I appreciate this tutorial! I'm extremely new to sewing and want to make sure I understand the end correctly before I start messing about with my clothes: Once all the pins are in place, do you flip the garment inside out and sew it inside-out so the seams are on the inside?

It would help to stop moving, though. She's on her knees, poor thing. It isn't easy when you''re not standing still.
What would you do if one side has a zip?
The correct way to do it would be to remove the zip, take in the seams as required and reinsert the zip. Although depending on the style, you might be able to take some of the fullness out using other seams or by creating or increasing darts and leave the side seams as they are. Hope that helps.
