My buddy bought a 1200 RS, and I was so excited about the 1160cc triple. It sounded so mental on paper, but after riding it, I kind of got disappointed. It's a very docile bike for a gentalman type of rider. It has a very hondish character in the engine, and I expected something like MT09 on steroids. It's an amazing motorcycle, but way too docile for my liking. The SDR is pure 1301cc of pure fun and dumbfuckery, just the way I like my motorcycles.
I own both bikes and the sdr is an absolute ANIMAL. The only other nakeds that have comparable shove are the z h2 and a de-restricted v4s. The v4s, when de-restricted, is the most ballistic missile on 2 wheels without a power adder.. Absolutely terrifying from 5-15k..
I was really looking forward to this mate. I have an S1000R I want to replace and these two are the ones I'm looking at. I had a chance to test ride the Speed and loved the triple (I had a daytona b4) but the ktm dealer hasn't got back to me and I've never ridden one... Now I know I have to find a way to test one for sure!
I had a 2018 S1000r full spec in white and sold it to buy the 2021 1290R tbh I was faster on the S1000R but after a few 100 Miles I got used to the V2 beast but it is in my opinion way harder to ride a 1290 fast in comparison to the BMW but more fun too :D
Mikey I’ve had both , imo I’d say the bmw is a better overall bike but the Triumph has something that you can’t put your finger on until you ride it 👍😂
I enjoyed that thanks. (SDR owner with snow outside.) BTW, I love my bike but nothing beats the sound of that triple. I had an STR at one time, 675 triple, fun bike.
Cracking video mate 👌, that ktm looks and goes really nice, I'm beginning to regret not getting the 890r instead of my mto9, I always want something else when I've splashed out on something then see something better, good video mate 😀
Ktm 1290 Super Duke and Triumph Speed Triple 1200RS. I would appreciate it if you could let me know the features, pros and cons of each model. And which model would you choose?
Great video! If you could choose freely from this bikes, wich one would you pick? Superduke 1290R, BMW S1000R or the Ducati Streetfighter V2. All 2022 models.
Hahaha iam at the Same Point my Friend i Drive the Triumph tomorrow and the Superduke on saturday, the Ducati Is really beautiful but it Is more a race bike and Not for all day. I think i buy the Superduke too but this opinion we will See on saturday
Sorry dude I thought I'd replied to this ages ago ,anyway I'm glad you enjoyed it ! . I'll meet you there again soon ,I've something to show you .......and no not that ! :)
I wanted to upgrade from my aging gen 1 superduke, and ultimately decided on a gen 3 lol. I contemplated the speed triple and the V4, but I just wasn't willing to let go of the beautiful torque of that V-twin. Plus the front end is just amazing to look at, looks like an alien fighter ship.
Nice bike but yeah I still prefer the Triumph , it’s just got something about it eh , I dunno what it is but I love it ! I think the Triple engine is what I like 👍
@@sergeantsodom6969 hope you get it sorted, either way it’s got warranty so it’s got to be fixed or a brand new one, if I was you I’d try getting a new one mate don’t waste your time on that one , or just get a solicitor and Triump head office involved, if it’s “ not fit for purpose “ which means it has to be ride-able then the finance company should accept it if you back the bike 👍
Lol, I rode an unrestricted beast last week. I think it's better for street muscle all day. Softer sprung and with a gel seat more comfy too. The Speed is a great track weapon if that is the kind of thing you do, and to be fair to the Triumph if you unrestrict it, I bet it wouldn't even feel the same. Bottom line though I do think the Beast is the ultimate street machine. Unfortunately people seem to know and they are going for over retail and add a tune and exhaust and your paying a pretty penny.
@@dhh6084 you can use ecu-tune to do that, but you need someone that really knows their stuff to do a full unrestrict tune. Some of that of course is for emissions but a lot of manufacturers are doing torque limit and throttle limit in different gears and such. Who knows if Triumph had done this or not. I would be surprised if they didn't. Cams can also be used as a restriction "hopefully not for the Speed."
@@RonnieM thnx for the reply mate. its hard finding someone capable of doing that where im from. p/s hate to see couple of rpm wasted when it reach the top speed.

I did a test ride on the speed tripple and the ktm and went home with the ktm the power is instant and no shuttering and jerking at low rpm like the tripple. I had a zh2 before and power wise they are both insane but the difference is the sdr handles amazing so easy to flick suspension is great. The z is too heavy really feel the weight and the suspension is rubbish.

Not true.. I've owned most of them and the tuono factory is excellent but more often than not, is running better tires than the others during testing/reviews. If the majority of riding is more track focused, it ranks very high on the list. If you aren't tracking or riding aggressively 8/10ths of the time, the sdr, z h2 and even the s1kr are much usuable on the road
