This game is so awesome. So many memories for me. Awesome music all throughout the game helps to make a game like this so much fun to keep fighting/playing. Such an epic game and one of the best on the N64.
I like how you lost to gargos it makes the gameplay seem more humane as i just can't stand perfection- and it was quite entertaining to watch content on my favorite KI character XD Great job man!
You know, I had planned to do more playthroughs of this game (I was first requested Orchid). Nowadays, however, I don't have the desire to make any more videos, or at the very least, any major playthroughs at the current moment as I just don't have the motivation to do so. So as of right now, I'm going to have to deny the request. I apologize, but I just don't feel it right now.
KI has the most epic music for a fighting game. I so want them to do anther one. There characters were interesting, fulgore being my favorite, coupled with a sweet combo system.
I've mentioned about that particular subject in the descriptions. Trust me, I would have done it if I could, but after not playing it for so long before this playthrough and the way the command is set, I just couldn't do it as easily as I used to. Not that it matters to some of my critics, though, heh.
Assuming you read my post regarding Sabrewulf's ultra first, then you have the means to access ultras. As for how to do Glacius' ultra, all you need to do is do a quarter-circle foward with the quick kick button after any combo, and there you go.
I recorded from the VHS, then transferred the VHS footage to DVD. I don't quite have the materials to properly record from DVD not without input lag as of yet with the DVD recorder I have.
@714cyjr Hm. I'll consider it, at least. I used to play as Tusk quite a bit, but it might take some time to learn him again since it's been a pretty long while playing as him. I won't make any promises to if and/or when I'll do it, but I'll give it a try to see what I do.
hahaha... i can't do any of that anymore, been years since i last played this game, but yet the only one i liked so much that i mastered everything, RIP KIG...thanks for the video, think i'm gonna try playing it with ps3 controller
Good play-through, but I'm surprised you don't end any of your combos with the Arctic Slam. It does a lot of damage and it's the most awesome move in the game to boot.
Always enjoy a good Glacius playthrough. Couple of random tips: Combo's AI is really easy to exploit; he'll try for an overhead without fail if you crouch a few steps away, and it can be parried. This makes it really easy to get a max-hit ultra on him if you've got full meter and finishers, since he's the easiest to trick into a move you can get the parry off of. On the flipside, Orchid, Jago and Glacius are very easy to get full meter on using combo breakers; their punches and kicks are flashy enough to more reliably see which breaker you need than other characters. Glacius can be baited into a Liquidize if you hang around medium range, maybe jump a little; since its slow, it's easy to get off the correct counter (Icy Grip, in this case,) every time. Glacius' crouching fierce kick hits twice and includes some forward motion; it's basically a low-hitting Pressure Move. The AI will fall for it a lot if you jump in and do it as they're getting up, and since it hits twice it can lead into a finisher right off the bat (in the arcade version the finisher has a tendency to whiff and you end up with a triple combo though, I don't remember if KIGold was more reliable. It may be safer to follow with a linker and a manual auto-double before the finisher.)
Well, first, I'll never say that I know this game inside-out as there are advanced stuff that I don't know about. That aside, I honestly don't prefer one over the other. Both Killer Instinct games are quite fun to me, so it I couldn't choose even if I had to.
Well, if you must know, I've become invested in doing speedruns nowadays. What I call "projects" in this case are speedrun attempts trying to get a good run to be uploaded mostly for fun, but also still good to watch. However, since these are heavily trial and error affairs with lots of random elements depending on the game itself and my own abilites, the attempts take a large chunk of my time. Once I'm finished with my current game, then I'll see what I'll do afterwards.
glacius is my favorite char to play with in ki1 and ki2, then fulgore, but i find myself back to glacius everytime. hope they bring this to xbox live. hopefully itll be the arcade version.
I use the the N64 D-Pad as analog is usually too loose for me to use. I like my inputs to feel as tight as possible so that I know that my commands feel in place. That being said, it can be tough to get diagonal inputs simply because of the commands that require what seem like pseudo-half-circle motions from what I've experienced, or maybe that my own issue. If that's the case then I would have hit Arctic Slams way more often.
Have you already tried out The_None's Glacius or Orbinaut's KI2 characters? They are pretty solid if you ask me. Unless you did already tried them out at one point, and they didn't suit your fancy.
Thanks for the compliment, but talented for criticism? Nah, that's not true, heh. If you dig through my older playthough videos, especially those with voice commentary, you might find a completely different and more sillier perspective of how I approach games (for better or worse, of course).
I think you got the wrong idea about the "fake-out." I know that it's his No Mercy, it's overplaying the fact that I got him to do it and reacting to it accordingly. Also, I mention a little bit about the Arctic Slam and why I couldn't do it as good as I used to in the descriptions. It's not much of an excuse in the grand scheme of things, but that was what has been happening every time I try to perform it nowadays.
I grew up playing Nintendo 64! Games like Killer Instinct Gold, Perfect Dark, WWF No Mercy, GoldenEye 007, and Wrestlemania 2000! This bring back so much memories! My cousins and I were playing these games every day! WWF is one of my favorite show! My favorite episodes Raw 1997 - 2007 SmackDown 1999 - 2005 I'll buy the episodes on DVD! I can watch it over and over and never get tired of it! When ever I have kids soon I'm going to tell them to watch every WWF episodes! I'll even buy Power Puff Girls, Dexter Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, and Kim Possible episodes! I'm going to raise my kids like the 90s I miss my child hood
I will WCW episodes! I remember playing Super Smash Brothers on Nintendo GameCube and Nintendo Wii! My cousin still got the games! I remember playing SmackDown Shut Your Mouth and SmackDown Here Comes The Pain! I remember playing WWF No Mercy, Wrestlemania 2000, Killer Instinct Gold and Perfect Dark! My cousins and I are going back to our childhood!
Do you use the analog or the dpad? I recently picked up a usb xbox controller to play on my laptop for a little nostalgia and I found that the joystick is completely useless in registering diagonals while the dpad is extremely sensitive to accidental ups and downs leading to very dodgy control of the move set. I don't remember if the n64 analog or dpad was that great because I was pretty young when I played this natively. On this remote I'm lucky if I can perform a super 1/10 times.
Since you seem to know the game inside out, do you prefer this, or the original? I didn't play much of Gold but I seem to remember finding it very...slow, harder to control. Could be completely wrong.
Off topic, but you can easily tell the mostly all of Rare's N64 titles have similar music. Who ever conducted all this music is a fucking genius. Rare has had some of the best music tracks in all of gaming.
This was asked before, but I'll repeat it again for those that don't want to read through earlier comments: Glacius and Saberwulf were originally going to be the only two playthroughs that I were going to do, but I did thought about doing more. However, with me not feeling like making more videos right now (barring random exceptions) and working on another project, I have no intention of doing any more anytime soon. So my apologies to those that were expecting more KI Gold playthoughs.
Cold Shoulder? That's Sub-Zero's move. Well, it's variation of his Slide move in the Mortal Kombat games, but Cold Shoulder has been there since Deadly Alliance
@TheEvilReverend Nothing wrong with that. Heck, I even encouraged people to actually say that in the comments of my other KI Gold video for a simple e-Cookie.
Heh I like to let you reconsider your own personally choice of words of how far video games can or had contribute to movies lol :) If not the whole storyline than surely some element of the subject.
Oh, I see. Because I have the KI Gold game downloaded on my computer and it doesn't show NEARLY as good as your display. Now I see why... it came off the N64 itself! I love Killer Instinct... I also have the Arcade Roms of both Killer Instinct 1 and Killer Instinct 2 on the NU64 Emulator.
Fine, I won't say Orchid because you said I can't, lol. Seriously though, as far as this game goes, it's always have been Saberwulf and Glacius tied at the top of my list.
Easily one of the best fighting games of all time
@ 0:17 what's the name of the song?
Killer Cuts is the name of KI's soundtrack. Should b easy to find
I'm leaving a like because that Jago fake-out was enough to leave me like, "DAMN!!!"
This brings me way back!
This game is so awesome. So many memories for me. Awesome music all throughout the game helps to make a game like this so much fun to keep fighting/playing. Such an epic game and one of the best on the N64.
What's the name of the song? @ 0:17
So much nostalgia! I loved playing this game as kid!
The good old days for killer instinct for n64=)
I like how you lost to gargos it makes the gameplay seem more humane as i just can't stand perfection- and it was quite entertaining to watch content on my favorite KI character XD Great job man!
I assume you always purposefully missed a question on tests?
@@DiggitySlice wrong. I always got one question on the test PURPOSELY wrong. Also weird to see a comment 8 years into the future lol
You know, I had planned to do more playthroughs of this game (I was first requested Orchid). I really dig your comments, I can see you're very talented for game criticism. I'm gonna watch more of your videos.
Thumbs up!
very entertaining annotations! finally an original upload, great gaming too!
@lordloch I think it says "Fight On." Kinda hard to tell with the other in-game SFX going on in the versus screen.
I really like the annotations, they are both informative and funny. :) I'll have to take a look at your other videos.

This is my childhood right here 18 years ago
Oldie but killer instinct gold
What emulator, lol? This playthrough was completely done on console with the help of VHS and DVD/VHS converting.
Oh my god, I think i came when i saw the build up to the start menu...
I love every moves of Glacius!! His style is ULTRAAAAAAA
I remember I played this game over 28 years. This game has been the best part of my life in history.
I couldn't ever play Glacius this well. Watching people play spinal and Glacius is like watching someone do calculus
He's a basic rushdown character
Assuming you read my post regarding Sabrewulf's ultra first, then you have the means to access ultras. As for how to do Glacius' ultra, all you need to do is do a quarter-circle foward with the quick kick button after any combo, and there you go.

Assume what you may, but I can 100% assure you that this is indeed Master difficulty.
yaaaaaas NOSTALGIA! and you killed it bro
man combo's theme man that music is BAD ASS

I missed this game very much
Good play-through, but I'm surprised you don't end any of your combos with the Arctic Slam. It does a lot of damage and it's the most awesome move in the game to boot.
Your annotations are very descriptive and evaluative. I like that in a playthrough!
Oh, God! That was a good fake-out! Clever...and sneaky, I like it.
They should have made that spinning "N" at the beginning of every Nintendo 64 game.
How come ???
Please may you do the same but with Orchid !! :D
Please ! jsut take energy this was awesome ! ^^ I'll be waiting c:
Quite impressive mate, thumbs up for sure
Ive still got my copy of this and my N64 still works fine to this day :)

Imma miss the old glacius
Decided to throw it back to some KI. That reaction on Jago’s ultimate was one of the craziest things I’ve seen in any fighting game. 🔥
jax from mortal kombat and tj combo would be a badass team, same with glacius and sub zero
Great vid! I enjoyed the annotations too.

This game put SF to shame with its sprites and animations!!!💪🏼👍❤️
glacius is my favorite char to play with in ki1 and ki2, then fulgore, but i find myself back to glacius everytime. hope they bring this to xbox live. hopefully itll be the arcade version.

I like how the camera scales back when you knock someone in the air. I hope they bring that back in the X1 version.
What is the deal with the multi-hit combo breakers? It seems like it only happens at specific times.
did u play this game with the d pad or the stick??
Have you already tried out The_None's Glacius or Orbinaut's KI2 characters? They are pretty solid if you ask me. Unless you did already tried them out at one point, and they didn't suit your fancy.
Awesome game! also better then Mortal Kombat;)
Thanks for the compliment, but talented for criticism? Nah, that's not true, heh. If you dig through my older playthough videos, especially those with voice commentary, you might find a completely different and more sillier perspective of how I approach games (for better or worse, of course).
Microsoft renewed the rights to the Killer Instinct franchise as of 9/17/2012.. Pray for them to do something with it..
Half-Circle Back, Foward + MK
I think you got the wrong idea about the "fake-out." I know that it's his No Mercy, it's overplaying the fact that I got him to do it and reacting to it accordingly. my fave char ever
@ 0:17 what's name of the song?

This bring back so much memories! My cousins and I were playing these games every day!
WWF is one of my favorite show! My favorite episodes

I miss my child hood
Idk if you should tell your kids what to watch, they might not like wrestling lol, you can recommend it but they might not like it just saying.
I'll give it a try
I'm also going to buy 1985 - 1996 WWF episodes! I will watch every single episodes of WWF and cartoons episodes! I'm going back to my child hood
This game will be in rare replay on Xbox one.

@LordVucious i'm pretty sure that the huge gaping pit in fulgore's place is a knockoff zone
Now that was impressive!
Since you seem to know the game inside out, do you prefer this, or the original? I didn't play much of Gold but I seem to remember finding it very...slow, harder to control. Could be completely wrong.
You know if you do all 5 combo enders the ultra is longer, right?
Wow those are some good moves
Orchid alwasy had the best soundtrack stage!
Fair answer. Thanks for the prompt reply, enjoy your weekend!
whats the imput for glacius' ultra?
The Icy Grip? QCF + Quick Punch
ULTIMATE COMBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Imagine Glacious drunk Glacious go crazy Glacious screaming Glacious loud
How do you make moves speed up and slow down?
Off topic, but you can easily tell the mostly all of Rare's N64 titles have similar music. Who ever conducted all this music is a fucking genius. Rare has had some of the best music tracks in all of gaming.

The a wolf was beast to use his combos are easy to master.
You are really good. I just bought this game and I have no idea how to play it. lol
Which makes me a n00b.
Halfway, through I just realised; did Nintendo censor all the blood in KI Gold??
Whoops, never mind. I just read the entire video description. Did you record this with the VHS or DVD option however?
How do u us your like finishers
I thought Glacius was scratching himself when I was younger. Had to find a clip to confirm lol
If they do make a Killer Instinct 3, I hope it has ALL the characters from the 1st two games, of course with a few new ones.
I emailed Rare to see if they are doing a Xbox 720 version, but they did not confirm it yet
how can i do the ultimate at 9:15??????????
Cold Shoulder? That's Sub-Zero's move. Well, it's variation of his Slide move in the Mortal Kombat games, but Cold Shoulder has been there since Deadly Alliance
so so many good memories :)
MORTAL KOMBAT vs. KILLER INSTINCT.
No not at all. You can choose the amount or whether to have it on/off.
I miss Rare so much. The natural order needs to be restored by bringing them back to Nintendo.
During the comeback against Kim Wu, all I could say was that LordVucious was like Charlie Sheen, WINNING!
@TheEvilReverend Nothing wrong with that. Heck, I even encouraged people to actually say that in the comments of my other KI Gold video for a simple e-Cookie.
my fave character im professional with iz spinal!!! but i like glacius too tho!!
This game hurt me a little cause no cinder but it made me get better with Jago and Glacius
lord vicious, what emulater did you download for the game?
Heh I like to let you reconsider your own personally choice of words of how far video games can or had contribute to movies lol :) If not the whole storyline than surely some element of the subject.
let me tell you, playing with six face buttons right there infront of you is very pleasant no bullshit dealing with the triggers
I just hoping soon some one will make a movie based on this video game. Or something.
4:16 compleetley agree

Hey can you do a Killer Instinct Gold: Tusk Playthrough.
