This game was my LIFE back in 1997! Ahhhh! I still remember all those epic stage fatals, the awesome music. the epic fighting, and especially playing on ludicrous speed on master difficulty. I forgot all about that sky stage until I saw the very end of this video. Such a blast to the past!

I remember the insane combos in this game, renting this thing at blockbuster with just enough money as a kid, only to button mash like crazy as sabrewulf and make little to no progress on normal. DAMN, those were the days. Man, it has been a while.
they really need to bring this game back. it had the best soundtrack out of all the fighting games ever made. i could imagine the graphics if it ever came out in the near future.
They should really be making more Killer Instinct games. Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter came all the way to the top. Why did they leave their son behind?

@vernaculos it's cuz Rare was bought by Microsoft (the people who make the xbox 360). i don't completely understand it cuz there has been a new Banjo-Kazooie game (but it was not the same as the first 2 haha). but anyway, i did hear a rumor about Rare CONSIDERING the idea of remaking the first 2 K.I. or making a new one. but yeah, fingers crossed! :)
this game gives some really good memories! AMAZING GAME WITH AN OUTSTANDING SOUNDTRACK! one of my main musical inspiration aswell as other rare games like the Donkey Kong Country series which also had amazing gameplay and soundtrack!
I would say for myself it would be the NES. Without it, video games wouldn't be where they are. But the N64 still lives on in my heart as not only a childhood memory, but also as one mean platform.

I member getting this for my 12 bday in 1997 for N64 it was the best game to play me my god sister and cousins played it all night non-stop till we took a break so they sing happy bday to me and ate cake LOL then continued playing
thats a more detailed explanation. but at the time, most people knew that when a arcade game being ported, there were gonna be downgrades. unlike today. but it came out nicely. i wonder how much of an improvement KIG would have gotten if it used the N64 expansion ram? i like to see them made available again. snes/n64 version on wii. KI1/2 arcade for xbox.
spinal is definitely 1 of the greats in this game because he was eyedols apprentice. eyedol trained him and made him his rigtht hand man. he also ressurected spinal to guard ultratech from the KI tournament!
i tout that this was the arcade version from killer instict onder the name ki gold. but the graphics looks so different and the tiltle screen and the character select intro looks like to be inforior!!??
since everyone's into cross overs (Marvel vs. Capcom, MK vs. DC, Tekken vs, Street Fighter, Smash Bros), I think Ultimate MK vs. Killer Instinct would work. I'm sure that would have to go through a platoon of lawyers before that ever happened, but I think those two games would blend well. The crazy combos, loud announcers, fatalities, joke finishing moves, they'd be a natural fit.

@Funtaman yeh but blocking does add interest to the game.however,blocking can get stupid if you are allowed to block a whole bunch of combos.if a person throws liek a 90 hit combo yuo should not be allowed to block it though.
My strategy with Killer Instinct Gold: 1. Jump in with a fierce. 2. Press buttons like a fiend until something cool happens. Me and my brother eventually used every Ultra and Ultimate in the game following this sacred technique. We never really beat the game on anything higher than normal, but it was fun.
@sr20DETdrift Thanks for comment - I cant see any resembling game play to mortal combat - only the blood splatter. But this cant be the reason. There have bin brutal fighting games before MC. So, I think all the strategy or reason why another game havent come up - Its Rare´s decision.

The Tusk Level music was so epic. On second thought, all of the KI soundtrack was pretty epic.
RARE kicked ass back in the day. R.C. Pro-Am and Donkey Kong Country were classics!

@Rosati84 Well what the game designers did was measure how fast Ludacris can rap and they matched that with the speed of the computers attacks ^.^

Should totally be following up the combo as they come down. Those are linkages just thrown in the trash.
It's supposed to be a karate gi but because Jago fights evil on a regular basis it's been torn like hell.
