I grow these every year. This year I harvested a 63 pound one! They are so fun to grow. And your garden is beautiful!

Thanks! How do you cook it? Is the flesh watery or starchy like a butternut?

@@fixthishouse3303 I usually cut it and cook it in the oven and then I puree the flesh. I freeze it to use in pumpkin pies, pumpkin donuts, and soups. You can also chop and roast the cubes or cook in seasoned beef on the stove top. And yes it is filled with water when roasted.

Your garden is amazing!! Where did you get the seeds? How do you know when it’s done? Same as other winter squashes?

Thanks! I’ve already picked 3 large and one small Lungo squashes. Squash bugs were attacking one, so I picked it. Another fell off the fence and broke off the vine. The other started turning colors (or light green with orange/yellow). The little one looked done, so I cut it open and cooked it! It was yummy. I bought the seeds on Etsy, I think. I haven’t cut any of the big squashes yet, but I *think* they would have the same signs of ripeness. Skin you can’t pierce with a fingernail, dusty waxy surface, etc.
