Growing cushaw for the first time. Glad to see how big it gets so i can plan. Thanks
Thx for the video! I just bought seeds and wanted to see a video on how much they sprawl!
so, how many Cushaws did you end up with for the two plants? They seem very productive. How was the taste? Did they store well? Thank you! :-)
Great as always.
Thank you for your kind words and I hope you have a wonderful day! Happy gardening!
Your cushaw are beautiful. Your red cannas are gorgeous and bountiful blooms. Mind if I ask your variety? Could it be President? Thanks

These pumpkins are very similar to the ones everyone on madeira Island was growing. My grandmother used to plant this all the time. Only thing is I'm not sure if they were a bit longer in size. I'm trying to find the name of this pumpkin... So far this looks to be the most similar.
Thank you for stopping by and sharing your information and I hope you have a bountiful garden season!
How can I send you a picture?
I thought it was a cushaw plant but fruit has no neck.
I planted what someone called a cross between pumpkin and zucchini. They look like Cushaws. how can you tell when they are ripe. These started out green and white stripe and now have turned a beautiful yellow. And very heavy. I don't want to pick too soon or too late
Cushaw squash can be harvested as soon as the stem begins to dry and the skin becomes too hard to pierce with a fingernail. Because cold weather can damage pumpkins, they should be harvested before the first frost. Cut the stem with a sharp knife or hand pruners leaving a 2-3" length. I hope this helps!
I have something growing that I thought was cushaw seed however now I I don’t know could you help me
Hi Paul, I would need more descriptive information in order to help you!
Plant-Smart Living w/ Farmer Fred Detwiler I have a picture if you have a way for me to send it
Is the Cushaw and summer or winter squash ?
That's a good question…Cushaw is a winter squash...It can be stored indoors over the winter for 3 to 4 months in a cool dry place!
We didn't know what we had planted until I watched this video. The plants have taken over the garden. At harvest time we will probably be able to feed the whole community. I'd heard about the squash in South Louisiana but I will have to search when to harvest and recipes. Thanks for the video.
