Yeah. Me too.I greatly appreciate Oscar-as such an outlier. I got that similar experience with Steve Reich. I don't know... just being around a smart person. Whoo...
Quite a few masters of the piano in history, but Oscar is the best to ever display it! He's my personal GOAT! And this is one of the tightest trios ever!
My God I can’t believe my ears listening to the great feel and swing this guy has. He might just be the best musician I’ve ever heard. Superb stuff and I’ve been a pro musician for over 40 years now. This is the shit and he is my new hero.
@@MrCatrig77 Obviously with my head under a rock! But find him I did and am now transcribing his piano work for guitar and mandolin. It’s amazing to hear and not easy to do! Inspiration is the hardest thing to come by and I’m getting a boatload from Mr. Peterson! Whoo Hoo!
PS Dad 💔Thank you for bringing me up as an embryo on ‘West Coast (!) , & THE GREATEST EVER, BEETHOVEN. I miss listening without you there physically: but l know you’re there MY DARLIN. I’m the muso today because of YOU. 💔 THANX PA…. 🥺🎹🎸✨❤️
What is it with Canadian musicians accompanying themselves using their voice and the piano? Oscar Peterson and Glenn Gould come to mind. Actually my father who taught me jazz told me to sing the melody while I was improvising in order to keep me on track. I think I just answered my own question ;-) When it comes to Jazz Piano, it's Oscar P...you know me!
One of my all time favourite performances of all time that I've been listening to for decades. But I think the remastering has gone completely wrong. The piano has a lovely tone in un-remastered versions but in this version it sounds like a honky-tonk.
Szép napot kívánok mindenkinek valójában tulajdonképpen ami szerintem Jazz királya Az viszont igaz hogy vannak olyan csodálatos Jazz zongorista csikó Rea Oscar Peterson valójában utánozhatatlan
What a great recording of the inimitable Oscar. This led to a very pleasant few hours down the rabbit hole on your channel. Thank you for this, my only request-apart for mor Oscar and Simone - would be please to harmonise your sound levels as it causes mayhem trying to find the control to adjust sound.
It's a given that Oscar is a monster. But the bass player is keeping up with him! And as a bass player I prefer electric bass because it lets me be more "mobile" and I just never enjoyed trying to tame that big monster even tho I have one and occasionally use it to make my videos just for variety in the look and feel of things, but I always use electric to record with. However, I don't play pure Jazz so there's that. This is way over my head lol! But this guy just quietly goes about his business and tames that beast lol! Oscar and Tatum. Close call, tho Tatum wrote the book and then Oscar came along and added some pages. But it's just too close to call tho I think Tatum has the edge in definition. The cleanness or clearness of his runs are from another planet. But again, very close call.
My dad would play his records back in the sixties when I was a kid and I didn't get it. I do now Dad.
Me too!!! I'm so glad to have my dad's Oscar Peterson records.
Ok son, i'm proud of you.
❤
Same here! I get it now!
Mine too!!🥰
It doesn't get any better than this. I would have loved to be there to hear it live.
Yeah. Me too.I greatly appreciate Oscar-as such an outlier.

It’s awesome to hear the undertones of Mr. Peterson “scatting” the rhythm and leads as he plays. What a gift to musicians and listeners everywhere.
Quite a few masters of the piano in history, but Oscar is the best to ever display it! He's my personal GOAT! And this is one of the tightest trios ever!
How good is he? This tune is the source of quite a few Jaco Pastorius riffs. After hearing this, I became less of a Jaco fan and more of a Oscar Fan.
that's why he's the GOAT!!!! ^
Canada's gift to the very top of the jazz mountain .
Sometimes you forget to appreciate the absolute brilliance of Ed Thigpen, drums.. difficult to find anything in here, that swings harder..
Ed Thigpen for president
Absolutley! 🎉
He was a nice kind man too, 100% class - got to meet him and will never forget it
The way he looks at the bass neck during the nuances, so in the pocket its sick
Oscar was one of the best... I grew up listening to his jazz playing, Radio & TV from Canada! 💟
Großartiger Sound! Das Trio ist absolut erste Sahne, allein die Einleitung des Themas ist unvergleichlich.

Bro...no joke..I've been playing for 40 years and I knew of him but what the hell have I been missing!...
@@lonewolf1053 Glad I’m not the only one. Cheers to your wonderful tastes! 😂
I concur!
New hero? Where have you been?

I love how held back he is at the start and then lets loose at the main part 😅 AMAZING
Thank you for sharing this wonderful jazz music ♥️
Hey Lorna
Oscar, Ed, and Ray- unbeatable
I bought my first LP record in 1974; C Jam Blues & Hymn to Freedom are my No.1 & No.2 favorite numbers !!
wow. my first album in 1974 was Rare Earth, Ecology. It took me another 37 years to appreciate this.
A long-time hero of mine. He makes it look so easy!
The groove in this so so deep.
what a total joy this is !
Just love Oscar, grew up following him and band♥️

He's takin chances and takin long solo ...the swng of this man was and still is the best in piano playing
Does this trio rock! Oscar could easily perform by himself but this particular just was on another level with this performance.
A wee bit of magic.
He has performed solo many times and pulls it off like no pianist can.
So many fantastic trios since but Oscar's remains the best of all!
Had the same thought when I first heard Wes Montgomery play...... How is that possible?. All the respect to you ,Oscar.x
I was in Brussels when I heard it live !
Wonderfully remastered! Many thanks 😀🎹
It makes me weep with admiration...Above and beyond xxxx

I love this it was so amazingly good
Wow😮 wonderful
We will have to do the jitterbug to this! Love, love, love it!!!
There is so much going on here, the communication and technique is staggering
🍃Very good!! Good ,only good!! Thank you!!👌
Eddie Thigpen is one of the reasons most rock drummers don't impress me much! What a musician!
I love how he lays the first eighth note back a little bit each time at 2:37. Makes it swing so hard.
My No.1 favorite song !!! OP is a magician !!
This just wonderful!!!
There's nothing cooler than this.
THE GOAT
Great jazz music !
As good as this gets. Just a perfect combination.
👍🏼Man if that Joint was just down the Street🍺
That rhythm section, though..
He deserves an Oscar for that performance!
Omg Ray .my hero steady and deep .
Better than this?
Never happen
Can’t happen❤️
Magnificent!!!!!
mind boggeling ly swingingly perfectly beautifully played....bach would have approved.
Thats swing!
Best intro in the history
une masterclass comme disent les jeunes !
Thanks for posting this new version Wow it is cleaner than the other posts of this performance

OSCAR RULES MAN!!! 🎹👊🏾
Endless cascades of shards of crystal...
AWESOMES

Nobody was more cool.
Dammit, beat me to it XD

👏👏👏👏👏👏🎹🎼🎵🎶
There goes my restless leg syndrome 😂
🔥
He’s the Michael Jordan of the piano- him and Art.
Thigpen is like a surgeon. And Brown...well...he's Ray bleeping Brown...
6:20-7:30. 8:00-8:21

Stop playin' Son !!!
not the audience clapping in 8th notes together
absolutely could swing any harder than Oscar
The only one to rival Art Tatum 😊😊
Хуже наркотика. Чем чаще слушаешь, тем с большей страстью возвращаешся к гению джаза.
If a piano player said to me, “I can only listen to one pianist for the rest of my life. Who should it be.” It would easily be Oscar.
Piano player is on drugs can any human sustain such an act naturally??
Why do they play that stupid little theme?
These olympian athletes kick ass.
