Truly amazing! I fell in love with the soulful Freddie Hubbard. You can tell his upper lip was already suffering. He gave himself fully in every performance. They are all wonderful. Herbie is so cool! No one can beat 4 afroamericans together 😂 where would America be without them?

I have no idea how anyone can give this a dislike. One of the most legendary trumpet players with an all star band. This could be in my opinion the best recording of trumpet playing ever made. Freddie, there may be others who play the horn at a high level, but there is no one who plays the trumpet like this in the world other than Freddie. The all time best!!

i used to watch this over and over as a kid. i have these solos memorized- this to me is a classic. love this chord progession (mode progression) and the funky composition. long before this sound turned smooth and electric and still had some grit to it.
He's on auto bass pilot. Been there many times myself. The trick is to not get distracted by that cute little number seated off to the left with her legs crossed and the mischievous little grin on come hither lips. Otherwise, before you know it, you're playing Maiden Voyage, while the rest of the group is looking at you like you just stepped in a huge pile of a well known substance, further guaranteeing you won't win any friends nor impress any people in this set!😕

Freddie Hubbard produces such a fat sound on his trumpet. With Miles Davis and Lee Morgan, Hubbard is one of the greatest trumpeters of the bebop generation. Joe Henderson is deceptively smooth at the beginning of his solo, then at the 4:50 mark he starts to head OUT THERE. He is mighty and complex on the tenor sax. How awesome is Hancock's group. Had this whole concert on dvd when I was kid. It was a big blue note records concert festival in ‘85. It featured tunes from people like McCoy Tyner, Jackie Maclean, Woody Shaw, Stanley Turrentine, Johnny Griffin, James Newton, Stanley Jordan, Michael Petrucciani, it was an epic concert

Except in the 70's. Almost nobody wore suits. Too "square" . Ron and all of them wore lots of striped bellbottoms, jeans, boots, afro-hippie wear, knit hats. Floppy Leather hats, Superfly hats with feathers, leather jackets, t shirts too. and Freddie unfortunately often sported a lot of polyester, color coordinated two piece outfits. tan. orange. powder blue. oi. ouch.

When they play at the Blue Note, they play as to be at home, they grew up there, it's nice to se how confortable they are playing... this is an amazing performance. I had the fortune to go there and listen to Lionel Hampton, was unforgettable.

When they play at the Blue Note, they play as to be at home, they grew up there, it's nice to se how confortable they are playing... this is an amazing performance. I had the fortune to go there and listen to Lionel Hampton, was unforgettable.

Probably one of the best pieces of music ever written, performed by great musicians. Freddie Hubbard just rocks it off. A great performance, great rendering of that magical song. I must say for those who have never heard trumpeter Freddie Hubbard before, here is a musician in his prime, extrovert, inventive and unafraid to inspire. A Musican at the time pushing out the boundaries of jazz. Go for it Freddie !!.

Herbie Hanckok walked into my life with Head Hunters like he belonged there. I was a student from Afrika in London. I was e tremely fortunate that Mr Hanckok came to perform in London in '74. I wasnt going to miss him for the World. Thanks HH, you brought joy into my life. Mr Carter there's no one like you
