The Batman one also wasn't discovered, it was a dev who shared it online after Arkham City already having been announced.
What still gets me is how stupid easy it was to do too. Like, we should've had that on figured out on our own haha
@@RenewedAuroraFr but it was in plain sight and we never though about it
I did it around the time when the game came out, didn't think anything of it for some reason.
To be fair, if I recall, the room didn't show up in the X-Ray vision so there was no indication to try anything on that specific wall and besides that, the wall required three uses of the batgel simultaneously to break which had not been a thing anywhere else in the game, usually one was enough. So the method required doing something seemingly random somewhere seemingly random. It doesn't surprise me people didn't find it fast enough.
Wasn't it actually from a patch to the game?
A lot of people forget that Brutal Legend had probably the most misleading marketing of any major game up until that point. It was an era where you had to rely entirely on magazines and journalist websites to describe games to you, and whatever small trailers they decided to give these outlets. Up until release it was marketed as a Zelda knockoff with a metal skin, and indeed that's pretty much what the first hour is. About a third of the way through the game you find out it's more akin to Pikmin/RTS, which wasn't shown or talked about _at all_ leading up to its release.
Glad someone mentioned it. It was style over substance
Got it later in life and was heavily disappointed
I basically begged for the game as a kid and was so disappointed when the RTS started. I still played it and was even more upset that I never could finish the last battle. It was so hard from what I remember
You’re right. It’s the only game I’ve ever needed to change the difficulty to easy so I could finish.
I love brutal legend. Still hope they make a newer one or remaster.
The tune to activate the t-rex easter egg is "The Entertainer" most known fragment.
How’d you not mention the secret Super Punch Out Vs mode that took like 30 years to discover
because this is 12 easter eggs that took years to find not 3600
I think its too old to be still kinda relevant today for most people.
@@Not-TheOne It's an easter egg, on an easter egg focused channel, I think most people watching this video would find it relevant to the channel's content. Also I HATE the rhetoric that old = bad/non-relevant and it's an extremely immature mindset to have and guarantees you'll miss out on something you would've loved had you given it a chance.
@@Not-TheOne You clearly have never played the gameboy zelda games. Those are some of the best in the series
@@jokerofspades-xt3bs yes, I never did.
@Captain Eggcellent
For the Last of Us Easter egg, That's an upside down screen shot of a bullet ant affected with the cordycepts fungus in an episode of BBC's Planet Earth. It was the very inspiration of the infected in this game.
TH-cam Channel: Playstation
Video: Grounded: The Making of Last of Us
Time Stamp: 13:27 (mentions of inspiration from BBC Planet Earth)
TH-cam Channel: BBC Earth
Video: Attack of the Killer Fungi | Planet Earth | BBC Earth
Time Stamp: 0:23-0:24 (screen shot in those frames that was used in the easter egg)
I recalled Neil Druckman mentioning this in the making of and i recognized that ant still as it seemed awfully familiar. lol
I hope that brings this easter egg to total light. If already explained somewhere, whooops I didnt know.
Nice work Columbo
@@Vub.
lol thanks, I never watched Columbo but I have watched the first couple episodes of Mrs. Columbo out of curiousity of Kate Mulgrew from 1979. I mostly knew this actress from Star Trek Voyager from the 90s and her voice acting as Flameth in Dragon Age Origins, II, and Inquisition.
can you imagine how many of this easter egg's people found & thought it was nothing new & forgot about until years later on. until someone brought it up years later on
The fact that the hammer in bo2 says you're not worthy makes me believe there is some sort of events you can do to be deemed worthy
@@TheWolverinecool23 Annnnd? What happens?
@@TheWolverinecool23 And there's footage of this?
@@TheWolverinecool23 All good, mate.
@@TheWolverinecool23 Thats called making something up. Not a Mandela effect. Just a lie.
@@TheWolverinecool23having a mandela effect? no, you just created a false memory.
Definitely discovered the spiderman EE 22 years ago as a kid who had nothing better to do.
Played the game many times as a kid. Pretty sure I discovered it but thought nothing of it
You can find that exact same picture of the spider man devs in the first mission of the game in an identical looking asset on a rooftop.
I don’t think that’s true, I don’t recall seeing the picture anywhere else in the game. I discovered the dev picture myself when I was a kid. I believe the door on the rooftop swims open if you spend at least 2 minutes and ten seconds in the level.
@@tundooriI remember finding it as a kid and we never played any of the time trials, my memory is definitely blurry but I know it’s there.
I always love seeing you mentioned about the Last of Us easter eggs, because when I first saw the post by IGN (or from another source, probably a guy from Twitter, as they tends to take sources from social medias), I always felt weird how wild it feels when they told it, while us being confused because some of us had been seeing it in your channel like a year before they covered it
Brutal Legend is a metal game
That's why it didn't 'take off' I feel
But I absolutely loved it growing up
I think part of it is just that a lot of Double Fine's games are really well made, but they're all a bit weird and as a result they don't get the recognition they deserve at the time. Some become cult classics though like Psychonauts and Brutal Legend because the people who played them know how good they were and talk about it.
Being a metal head, I’d have loved to play brutal legends
The Thor Hammer Easter Egg in BO2 also had a reward, which was unlimited explosives for the rest of the mission
2:32 this zombies easter egg was only found because a modder decompiled the game and found the steps to the easter egg there. then did it in game and found them.
He is the same modder who found the very hard to do easter egg in BO4's werewolf map about vases. I don't remember this one all that much
I need to watch videos more before commenting... legit 2:36 you said this
@@ThyTrueNightmare facts
The black ops 2 Easter egg also gives you infinite ammo for the crossbow.
More entries like this please? Or maybe shortest Easter egg discoveries?
I found the batman one naturally in my run, its one of those things i think about so often because i had no clue what i was seeing until the devs revealed it existed
1:26 Why is the picture in the Reddit post different from the one you found? Did they include a different picture depending on what console you played it on or something?
Yeah that was from the pc version so I’m guessing that’s the team that ported it over
GOW3 predict Eren's final form. 😂
I'm pretty sure it was discovered that you don't actually need to do any of those steps for the last of us easter egg. You just need to get far enough in the prologue then reload the save. That is assuming it is an easter egg in the first place, the game director indicated it was a default shader test that get triggered by a bug rather than being an intentionally place thing.
not sure if its a manddela effect, but i swear i saw that batman room when i was hunting riddler trophies back on x360 around its release
There are some similar secrets that are easier to find, including one you have to find to finish the Riddler quest. It involves some writing on the floor (and I think on the walls) indicating Sharp's mental breakdown & secret motives, which get further elaborated on in the sequel. I think there might also be blueprints near a gas bomb on a wall in the room where you fight two titans. And if I remember right, the secret boat room in Akrham City is similar too.
Slippy Slides explained 3 years ago that the ant from "the last of us" is most likely a placeholder or shader test image
As far as I knew, I was the founder of that "easter egg" as I'm the one who found it 7 years later in 2020, which is what caused it to blow up. Kinda sad someone else actually discovered it atleast a year prior to me, but regardless, I'm the one that made it very widely know. That being said, though, I can confirm it wasn't an EE, it was actually a glitch. The NDA crew member who put it there was simply using it as a placeholder (as you mentioned) for the female broadcast lady. As for why those specific steps triggers the ant to take over the TV, I, nor the dev who put it there don't know
I would love to play that Simpsons Hit and Run remake a solo dev created. Sadly will never be released.
I love you so much for including Brutal Legend. I actually found that easter egg id say late 2010’s when I fell in love with the game.
Did not know the Spider-man easter egg was that unknown. I've discovered it ages ago (like I was 12/3-ish? Am 33 now.) But I'm not one to make videos of anything or stuff like that either.
Nor did I manage to figure out what triggered it, but I do feel it was time sensitive. Considering where it is at.
Same! I was around the same age and didn’t think much of it since the game had a million Easter eggs! Plus I had dialup so looking this up wasn’t in my mind.
That Futurama Easter Egg is so in line with the show itself.
I recognise that ant screenshot easter egg in The Last of Us, it is a screenshot from a cordyceps video so that’s definitely an intentional screenshot and not just a random ant picture. I always love seeing people discover the cordyceps fungi in the real world and how shocked they are by it
Funny thing about the last easter egg was that it was actually known about for a very long time. people had been able to see it by looking trough the wall. But it wasnt until very much later the actual trigger mechanism to acces the easter egg was found.
as a fan of hit and run its a great game and the futurerama game is so much fun too
We need a remake or remaster of the ps1 Spiderman games
I'm curious did anybody else notice that the dev picture he references for the Spider-Man easter egg is not the same picture that he caught in gameplay????
I have some hidden details from dead rising 3 for you: in dead rising 3 if you select bad costumes with Rhonda (Bull costume, shark costume, mariachi outfit, Hawaiian outfit, etc), she will say "not so good hon" "uhh try again?" Something you wouldn't hear on the regular. Here's a second one, if wearing the mega man X suit while walking or running, the costume will make robotic stomp noises as, I'm guessing a nod to mega man? And here's another one, if you keep curb stomping a zombie nick will get furious (like a bunch of voice lines I can't keep track of.)And another one from the clothes locker, if you go afk with Rhonda (again) she will tell you to stop spacing out and I find it hilarious. so PLEASE see this it took me ages to find these.
in the new goat simulator dlc you can get clank by getting all lost relics
I quickly wanna send out a little piece of dialogue I found on Titanfall 2, in the ‘into the abyss’ mission if you jump into the water at the start, right at the start, this dialogue will come up: BT: “Be careful, Pilot.” And you have the option of saying 2 things, one I forgot the other is “jump in, the water’s fine!”
Already covered 👍
There's also a pic of I'm assuming the Naughty Dog devs hidden in Jak 2 that took years to find.
7:56 "if you manage to eliminate all the enemies without triggering the alarm, THIS will happen"
NPC - "Something triggered the alarm"
nice
brutal legend was my ENTIRE childhood come into one game and i loved it
Why the spiderman has a big head in the video? 0:54
I was using the big head mode cheat
@CaptainEggcellent maybe that's what triggered the door opening. Or attempting to open it multiple times
@@chipdouglas2430 na cause when I tried again I was still using the cheat and it didn’t work.
@@CaptainEggcellentI remember finding that dev picture when I was a kid. I believe you have to spend a little over 2 minutes in the level for that door to automatically open.
@CaptainEggcellent my guess would be the other assets on the roof exploded, maybe that's the trigger.
As a Metalhead I love Brutal Legend 🤘
Do you know any other Easter eggs?
I'm not even a metalhead but for years ive been thinking about giving that game a try. It kinda reminds me of the days of Fable, Beyond Good & Evil from a design standpoint.
@@otdreamer193 Damn Fable that's brings back memories 😆
I'm still impressed by the water simulation in wave race. Even today, water effects are usually an afterthought and don't even look this good. Idk, maybe it's just me.
1:10 I remember finding this as a kid. thought it was neat and left it at that
the arkham asylum one was so hard to find that the dev team actualy showed us how to find it
I remember I got my first job at 16 working at Arby's. I applied for the job solely to purchase my first ps3 and to get Arkham Asylum! And I got Platinum on that game! One of the few I've ever tried to get.
enjoyed watchin this
10:51 It's the _Cordyceps_ fungus. Quadriceps is a muscle-the big one on the front of your leg, opposite the hamstring. Jsyk 🙃
*Edit:* In the game, the infection is called "Cordyceps Brain Infection (CBI)" in a collectible medical pamphlet. So it is confirmed that the apocalypse is canonically caused by Cordyceps. The Last of Us pt. 1, "Museum" section of the third chapter, "The Outskirts."
"The Cordyceps mushroom is a parasitic fungi that can take over a host's mind and alter its behavior. Until recently it has only affected insects and some arthropods. A new species has emerged with he ability to target human hosts." ~ Centers for Disease Control [In Universe]
I haven't watched the HBO Max series yet personally, but I've also heard that they've expanded upon this explanation in the diegesis of the franchise.
Anyways, it's obviously still not confirmed that *this* is the explanation for the ant TV easter egg. But it's worth mentioning that the Cordyceps connection is confirmed.
Seeing the playstation Spider Man game takes me back. I replayed that game so many times.
I used to play the demo over and over lol
The Hit & Run Easter Egg definitely didn't take 16 years to discover. It just took that long to be reported.
No way. I knew about the photo on Brutal Legend, but didnt know it was that hidden
I didn’t know there was a futurama game that looks so fun 😮
Venom scared me as a kid in that Spiderman game
I remember finding the picture on Spiderman when I was a kid and literally thought nothing of it and never shared about it considering I was a child and didn't know about easter eggs and such.
LOVED BRUTAL LEGEND
Im not a plants vs zombies guy but i am a pianists and the sequence played, was the first Part of "the entertainer" by scott joplin
That Spider-Man Easter egg had a completely different imagine in the forum you referenced to the one you got.
I played brutal legend for a good time (ever since I was 13 I'm 28 now) it's cool to see all those year's it have one
That BO2 easter egg makes me so happy
Spider man EE is probably on a timer since it’s on a time trial map
As soon as I saw the COD zombies one.... the first thing i said was they definitely decompiled the code
I like that you guys didn't create a 6 years older kid in the thumbnail. It's like they haven't aged a day.
I only just realised Marcus phoenix is the same voice actor as bender how did that take me so long to notice
Man was honestly kinda hoping the WaveRace easter egg involved a hidden sea monster like in Splashdown.
i loved the ps1 spider-man game
Pretty sure the thors hammer Easter egg did something to a grenade launcher as well.
when i saw the title i knew cod zombies would be here lol
im pretty sure there is an easter egg/ secret in BO2 Zombies Transit map that still has not been discovered 12 years later. Stated by a dev.
I LOVE these videos. But I imagine it keeps getting harder and harder to make them
8:05 maybe you gotta go through the level more and then maybe pick it up. I have a feeling there’s more to it. Cuz you can customize your inventory yk.
They might've just programmed Homer to track the beat of the music currently playing so if something like lag or pausing too much caused the the music to desync with him him, he'd adjust, even if they expected it to always be the same music.
Similarly, in Undertale & Undertale Yellow, if you do pretty specific things in situations where music is slowed down, you can hear music slowed down that normally wouldn't be playing at the time anyway. Like if you're doing a genocide run in Undertale Yellow & you leave Mo's room & come back, he won't be there because he already left but if you go back in, his theme will start playing again for some reason but it'll be slowed down.
I always find that kind of thing neat though.
You don’t need to change the piano sound in pvz to get the Dino to appear, and the notes you play are the beginning of The Entertainer by Scott joplin. If you play it with normal piano you actually hear more of the song when the Dino appears. Such a specifically weird EE
The first time i played gears 3 me and a buddy did couch co-op and he spotted one of the coins. We figured it out and shot all the coins and did the easter egg. Im surprised so many people had no idea.
I remember finding the dev team picture in spider-man when I was just 4. I’m 27 now. I didn’t know what I was doing back then and was confused to why I was looking at a photo of group of people in this random spot.
Bro i found that TLOU Easter egg immediately by complete accident on Launch how did it take 6 years to find?
Just seen a clip from brutal lengends love that game man😂
The die eisendrach Easter egg was only for his wife (for either her birthday or Valentine’s Day I think, I’m pretty sure Valentine’s Day) that’s why it’s so complicated and random, so no normal player would come across it
8:04 i feel like there’s gotta be a way to become worthy to pick it up
I remember watching your other video about the ant zombie on Joel Miller's TV -- Yeah, people aren't working with the source material, they fib for some "Stem" authorship of what they saw in your video, only to be the type of author that has another actual King Author.
Funfact about Futurama they have find the easter egg very soon by clipping through with the camera
and many thought was an unfinished easter egg
I generally have easter eggs in my games and a lot of them haven't been found... There are ones in Jungle & Urban Strike that I don't think people have found, as well as in Strider 2014.
For the Batman Easter egg, what I heard was the devs were shocked nobody found it, so they told people how to find it. Not sure if true, but that’s also why it was so soon
Yeah I think you’re right. Who knows how long it would have stayed hidden if they didn’t tell people
loved playing simpsons hit n run
This video is a little late itself as someone yesterday just discovered an Easter egg in Life Is Strange that hasn’t been found for 9 years!
Those tan pustules, coming out of the long whiteish “cord” on the ants head in the last of us Easter egg is the Cordyceps fungus itself. It’s a complete picture of an ant post mortem with final stage infection. The picture itself is confirmation.
I believe that exact same photo in Brutal Legend was used as an easter egg in the black velvetopia or Lungfisholpolis level of Psychonauts. Iirc it is also one you have to turn the camera around to see the woman. Both done by Double Fine so not a huge leap
Commenting before I watch if the Arkham asylum Easter egg is shown imma tweak, I’m tweakinggg😭😭👽
10:42 I didn't know it was an Easter egg but I didn't do all them steps. I went akf and when i came back that picture was on the TV.
The hit and run one might be a glitch. I can totally see the developers making something to animate to a music track automatically rather than doing it manually
Really?!?! The black ops Thor's hammer was there for more than 12 years.
And just now you found out it can get electric and iteractable, trying to pick it up tells you that you are not worthy... And then you act like thats it... Wtf bro! I will bet my life that there's more to it
You can actually see the fungus grow out of the ant in the picture.
1:27 he may have discussed the location.. but the picture found is a different one.. surprised you didnt mention that
10:50 "...the real life cordryceps fungus is known to infect ants..."
Sounds liek they need some disinfect-ants.
There are a lot of easter eggs discovered, they just weren't filmed and broadcast.
When you say it took 10 years to discover it, you should rather say that it took 10 years for someone to record it.
Me, If I play and if I find an easter egg by clipping through a wall or some thing, I will never recording it. Maybe I would be the only one in the world to have seen this easter egg. Sorry if bad English I'm French
I saw the Last of Us one the day the game came out. Didn't know it was supposed to be an Easter egg. I don't remember going back to the main menu either. I just remember going into Joel's room and that was the image on the television. I don't remember seeing the live news feed either, so maybe it glitched?
It was the same for me, a fellow map explorer!
Maybe with the spider man one it has to do with timing. You were basically 1 minute in. is that a really long time for the trial? Are you expected to be well past that point by that time?
was the spiderman easter egg really just discovered not too long ago? Because I remember that image. I was a kid when i saw it and thought it was a random image of some people. Little did I know it was the development team. I thought people knew of it.
People knew the black ops 2 thors hammer Easter egg a long time ago, I watched the ign video about it and in the comments one of them is from 11 years ago saying that you can get the not worthy message
Pls try to find easter eggs in Madness Project Nexus 2
Joker even made a reference about blowing up a billionaire's mansion. It's probably just a coincidence though.
The ant image in the last of us has a mushroom coming out of its head…which is the final stage of that ants life with that fungus, it doesn’t need to be confirm or denied when it literally is what you said it was lol
Thanks for the videos!
The Monkey Konami code kill in Black ops 1 zombie in the map shangri la was founded 8 years later
you have to get there at a certain time in spider man ps1
