Not TOO BAD after all? 2024 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro!

  • I’ve been a little harsh on the 2022+ Toyota Tundra… I admit. BUT, I’m just being honest. Having disliked my ownership experience of my 2023 Tundra TRD Pro, I kind of gave up on this truck. I wanted to give it another try though, so shoutout to Ken Garff Toyota for allowing me to take this 2024 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro for a bit… it was nice getting back behind the wheel. There is plenty of like about this platform but there’s also plenty to dislike. It all boils down to “different strokes for different folks”… I prefer the previous generation Tundra TRD Pro with the 5.7L V8. But some people prefer this IForce Max hybrid twin turbo V6. This one performs exceptionally well, there’s no denying that. But the drama offered by the V8 is unmatched in my opinion.
What do you think? Do you prefer this 2024 Tundra TRD Pro over the previous generation Tundra with the V8? How do you feel about the color Terra? Would you choose that over Terra or Solar Octane?
Thank you for watching as always, I sincerely appreciate your support. If you enjoyed this video and would like to see more like it, please consider Liking and Subscribe. It helps the channel a lot and I really appreciate it. Thank you!!

Hands down, it's way better than the past generation! I've owned three past generations, and the new gen has had some quality issues, but the handling, power, and tech blow away the old models! I waited until I could get 24, hoping.some of the issues got fixed, and so far, there has been not one problem. I love the truck, and as far as pricing, every manufacturer is high, so that is not a good criticism.

Love all Tundras but after owning a 2011/2016/2018 and a 2020 (I Lease) I was so ready for an upgraded change. My 22 Platinum checked just about every box I wanted to see different. Little things like bed lights, underseat storage, better JBL radio, nicer and different interior, better ride with the new suspension set up, different exterior looks, more power, and better gas mileage. This truck is 3-4 mpg better than my old trucks driving them the same way. I would of loved if they kept the price the same but with all that said and so much more I didn’t mention, that is impossible. I have had very little problems with this truck and everything I did have was corrected by Toyota for free. I absolutely love this truck and and I personally think it’s the best on the market and and will definitely get another one over any other brand. It’s a great driving experience

Can’t really comment but we have a 2023 Sequoia TRD Pro, was originally planning on swapping a 2016 5.7 Tundra for either a new one or a Ford Raptor, but in we the end got the Sequoia and kept the Tundra. A year in, the Sequoia is great. Love the way it drives, it’s been holding up pretty well but then again, it’s only a year old. Excellent performance and has tons of power, my only true gripe for the Sequoia is that behind the third row, storage space is not the best. Then again, that shouldn’t be an issue if you get a Tundra.

I've owned 63 vehicles, (and three 2nd gen Tundras) so not a fan boy with no experience. Not sure why all the negativity to it when this review definitely showed you really do see some of the positives, and you haven't even towed with it yet or seriously off road/work truck stuff which to me is why to get a Tundra vs a Santa Fe or something. Towing improvement is amazing vs 2nd gen as is the off road performance, ride, handling, tech, etc. No doubt the 3rd gen still has some QA issues over the proven 2nd gen. but hard to argue it isn't a damn good truck. Also weird you like the Raptor V6 enough to buy a few but hate on the Tundra V6 not based on power just on cylinder count it seems. Sorry if harsh but you said let it rip :)

Plenty to like… for me, I just don’t enjoy the hybrid aspect in a truck. Don’t like the buzzing synthetic feel to that. I don’t get that same feeling in the Raptor (mainly cause it’s still a very loud, non-hybrid performance truck). After waiting a year to replace it, and looking at actual issues/ problems with new Gen, i bought a lightly used 22 cm with 6.5' bed. I think this truck is better in every aspect. I will admit that i don't always love the way they look, chrome, and if they have small wheels they look too low to the ground. But body matched and with a small lift and tires they can look really nice. Haters gonna hate, and people have been making big deals out of relatively small issues with this generation.

I wanted to like the new Tundra but hated the forward visibility and look of the giant tacked on screen. Would have to get an SR5 just not to have that screen. Also drove the the nonhybrid and iForce max back to back and the performance difference was not noticeable to me. Sadly I need to get rid of my Tacoma for a family friendly full size truck. I'm leaning towards the ZR2 Duramax Bison edition like the one you had. I'm not willing to put up with reliability BS though, if it gives me an issues I will immediately trade for a 21' Tundra. I wish Toyota offered a diesel option in their trucks!

Sounds like the "anything after the 22R will not hold up" revisited. I have been driving the 3.44 twin turbo in 2 different vehicles for 6 years. To infer that Toyota spent this much on this platform and it won't hold up is counter to everything they have done. I don't drive a truck, if I did it would be the new Tundra. Toyota is not responsible for inflation, and who is would be political so I'll refrain. Plenty of 21s available for those that want it, to each their own.

Toyota was forced to go “eco” on it due to Government regulations and that’s really what makes people sad I think. The tech is cool and all but the customer base for these is clear: we want a reliable truck with decent power and are willing to pay for it as long as we get what we want. I feel like the previous gen was perfect in many ways but my biggest complaint (owned two as well as the sequoia) was how damn thirsty they are. The mpg rivaled 1970s vehicles. From what I hear, Toyota improved mpg quite a bit.
The new gen front end bugs me. It’s taking some time to grow on me but I’m still not quite there. I think it’s that grill. Just looks too big.
I should add that I paid $50k for my platinum in 2014. $47k for my limited in 2020. The price increase is significant for the new gen.
The 8 cylinder to 6 doesn’t bother me. The engines today are superior.

On the highway I am getting around 18.1 not all that great. I had the engine noise cut off from coming into the cabin. Also i do not feel great about the turning radius of this truck. Other than that so far so good. If I had to grade it now I would give it a B. This may change as I own it a little longer. There is no truck that is going to be 100 percent perfect. I have had Chevy dodge and fords and they all had their little issues. Oh I forgot no tow hooks for this price. Shame on you Toyota

Toyota had a huge following on the 2nd gen tundras and most of those people won’t even get near the 3rd gen I know I won’t, if I ever get rid of my 2020 tundra and buy a new truck im definitely not buying a new tundra I’ll either go with Dodge or GMC something that still offers V8 over the 3rd gen tundra if I need boost I’ll add a super charger
My 2020 tundra 1794 is staying with me for a very long time 3” lift with 35” Nitto ridge grapplers on method 305 wheels it’s just a look and feel one can never get with the new tundra .

I have driven it and have gone over a mile at 35-40mph without the engine turning on. Plus the on board power is much better on the F150 PB.
