    Great advice, Todd. I'm usually tense until I'm within 100 yards of the pin. Then I relax, because that's when I am most confident in my abilities to get up and down.

    Good stuff, Todd. Golf is such a mental game. Proper breathing to relax helps me. Perhaps you could touch on that, or combine the two in another video.

    Hi Todd, I am new to the game (June 2023) but I am hooked and doing everything I can to improve including weekly trips to the driving range and lessons. I came across your video and found your teaching style easy to understand and to the point. I just subscribed and look forward to learning from your videos. Thanks Osvaldo Belews Creek North Carolina ⛳

    I had a humbling experience the last time I played a round of golf. I learned that I need to make some changes to how I approach the game, I have no pre shot routine at all. I can hit the ball but not consistently. Been watching a lot of your videos and I am getting a better understanding of what is wrong in my head and game next time I’m able to get out I’m going to try some of your advice especially on said video. Thanks for making the videos I enjoy them happy to have come across them. Thanks again.

    Todd, everyone stresses keeping your left arm straight in the backswing. Any tips on how to do that? I never am able to do that without creating tension.

    • @USGOLFTVshow
      @USGOLFTVshow  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question, keeping it straight is not the key IMO. It is more about the direction the arm travels that is important. Feel like it works more straight back and up vs around...hope that helps 👊

    Tod, great pre shot routine. There is one thing also needed to be addressed is energy level. As an experienced golfer I find that after around 12 holes my game goes to pot turning a 70s round into a mid 80s. I try different snacks and drink plenty of water. Is there something you would suggest that will help keep the energy level up.

    Hi Todd, Gerry here from Bethpage New York. Home of the US Open Black Course.
    Great advice.
    I would add a couple of additional steps to the information gathering step.
    Distance
    Pin Placement
    Slope and Ball Lie
    Wind Direction
    * Identify Trouble Spots
    * Evaluate
    * Determine Target/Landing Area
    * Determine Shot Shape
    Practice Swings

    Coach what can I say, I love this video a lot because you separated pre shot and shot.
    My pre shot mental process is a pilot decision making technique TDODAR. I will admit there are a lot of times I do a nice pre shot swing and hit the ball great and sometimes not. Tomorrow I am playing golf in the morning and I am going to try the 3 setters to feel if I can pick up an inconsistency.
    Hi Nick hope you are doing well.

    Hitting down with irons video was a great help, using your left arm as the dominant lead was a great help for me, now hitting straight hits. Q. Which dominant arm should you lead with when using a driver. Play in England 800 ft up on the moors.

    • @USGOLFTVshow
      @USGOLFTVshow  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question, in general we like to see the lead arm be the focus as most golfers over use their trail/dominate arm. We want to find balance between the two. Make sense?

    Hi Todd. I hit a very nice and solid shot and contacs each time in driving range but always topping the ball on the golf course. Is it my fear divot and get stuck. I tried to hit deeper but occasionally stuck on the grass. Any good advice?

    I am very athletic. Played college basketball. On the range I absolutely smoke the ball. Great ball flight.. Hit the driver a mile. Last round starts with a par 4, 3 , 5. Hooked every tee shot. The drivers were line drive hooks and the par 3 was a pull draw. Went home after the 9th hole. Hit driver off the toe ..something I never do on the range. So frustrating.

  • @willvarela1557

    Todd I know that feeling. I'm hitting the ball well at the range. Then I wait to play golf. But the course is busy and running behind. Your tee time is 9 a.m. But you don't get on the tee until 9:30. You have carts slacked 1 behind the other. What can I do? I am now in a hurray to tee off and play. That enters my head.

      @@willvarela1557 that’s a very good question you had. I hate being rushed cause someone is waiting for me to tee off but I’m waiting on the ones in front of me to move on. Every time I get in a hurry I guarantee that ball isn’t going where I intended it to go.

    • @willvarela1557
      @willvarela1557 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ScottMiller-rx2wc Excacty. I'm warmed up and ready. Now instead I'm waiting. Then in a hurry. You would like to play through but you can't. So it takes me 2 holes to get in rhythm. By that time I'm 3 over. Lol. Sometimes you'll get lucky. Long live golf...

    Todd, thanks as always. I am reading your book and watching your videos. One thing so far in the book I can’t figure out. Rotate your head slightly downwards so your chin points at your trail foot. If I tilt my head so my lead ear is slightly higher than your trail ear, how do you get your chin to point at your trail foot?
