I deal with severe anxiety and depression and this has definitely been a big help.

I raised 4 children by myself with no relatives living close enough to give me a break. Without a doubt they are all still living because I knitted.

I should also point out that this describes my own journey to begin knitting as I was homeless and wanted to feel like I was doing something useful and I have continued to knit as a means of controlling my symptoms.

I started knitting at a kind of hectic time in my life. I'd lost a friend, started a new relationship, and was trying to live a healthier lifestyle. My anxiety and stress was at an all time high. I meditated but I also wanted to do something more hands on and practical. I think knitting has gotten me through a lot of tough spots and I'm only about 4-5 months into it. It's therapeutic for sure, whether you're using needles or a loom.

I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis...hence my need to have 2 joint replacement...I had a hip replacement a few yrs ago. I decided that I would like to incorporate knitting (already crochet) to exercise my hand/finger/wrist more...especially my left hand/wrist that causes me a great deal of discomfort. I find that movement is my best medicine...

Blood circulation in the brain is improved by knitting. I have learned that the part of the brain focused on the use of the hands and continual use, is the surface of the brain, just under the skull. When the brain is active, it draws the blood but to get there, the blood must go through the whole of the brain. The circulation come up through the center of the brain. When the brain is getting the nourishment it should have, you will feel better.

Good grief! I have been working with 2mm needles for so long - that seeing the ones you’re using at the start of this upload actually SHOCKED me!

It’s funny, I started knitting because I like to make things, not because I was upset. It’s not relaxing for me but it’s frequently challenging.

knit and crochet keep me from killing people. :) Just holding my hooks or needles, is calming. Low cost?? HA!!! If you're buying cheap Hobby Lobby acrylic. Otherwise, get out your debit card 'cause it will cost you.
