    I remember when I was growing up in HK. I was bullied in school, so was super happy that schools closed. I wished SARS continued forever. I know that this sounds bad, but to a bullied kid, it was a savior without capes.

    2003 was a terrible year for Hong Kong due to 3 terrible events: SARS, death of Leslie Cheung on 1st April, death of Anita Mui on 30th December :(

    if lab mutation/modification theory is false then Its scary that this virus is evolving and learning itself to get stronger.

    • @BSnicks
      @BSnicks ปีที่แล้ว

      The virus originated from a lab! However, the last lab is gone now. Let's see how fast the virus can "evolve" without the lab. It will probably be around until a working vaccine is created.

    SARS and Covid19 have common symptoms.
    It seems to me that the SARS of 2003 evolved to the 2019 outbreak.
    Luckily Most of the disease didnt reach black Africa,😊

  • @canto_v12
    @canto_v12 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hong Kong was only able to construct and staff such large isolation camps so quickly with the sheer manpower mobilised by the mainland. Like it or not, China really helped control the fatality rate in Hong Kong--the scale and speed of Covid's spread would have been far too much for Hong Kong to handle alone. SARS, while having a higher fatality rate, spread far slower and burnt itself out even without the aid of vaccines.
    Early in the Covid-19 pandemic, I had a bad feeling that SARS never really went away in the sixteen years between itself and Covid-19; it could have just gradually evolved. Turns out I was wrong as genetic sequencing showed that it likely came from a different breed of viruses.

      @@Cosmo1093 you’re right China was the one refusing to reopen borders, but they were later to shut the Shenzhen border two days after Hong Kong began shutting theirs. I’ve amended my comment, thanks.
