"Is that what teenage boys talk about." Yes, more than you might think. Superbad was released in 2007 and I graduated in 2006. It was the closest we'd EVER heard to natural dialogue for teenage boys. You could hear this sort of thing as early as 7th grade, but most likely between 10th and 12th... Heck, some never grow out of it and your hear adults talk like that too... For me and my best friends, we mostly grew out of talking like that before graduating.

This movie was the movie of the year for every senior that graduated in 2007. This was the movie of my brother and his peers when they graduated that year.
So if Vkunia stated she was 11 or 12 years old when this premiered in '07, she was either born in 1996 or 1995.
As a teenage boy during the mid-2000's, I was focused on getting my own car because the girls in my school were that shallow.

The concept behind willingly being a mistake is actually not as shallow as it seems. He will try his best, but doesn't expect for it to last. They hear many girls willingly entering situations that are unfavorable, and say that it was a mistake. So, is the difference with him? or is the difference with her? He relinquished control over the outcome, because he doesn't know. He's coping, but hoping.

I really like the bittersweet ending as well, it always makes me tear up. Mainly because I relate to the movie and I have drifted from some of my best friends during that time.
And yes, as a teenager, my friends and I would talk about that kind of stuff, but it was a good balance of topics.
They played it up a bit in the movie, but it was still accurate.

*Some* teen boys talk like that. I never did...mostly because I was afraid a girl might hear me and you KNOW it would get back to a girl I liked. I used the f*** word in high school once (just once) and of course, a girl I knew from church was right in front of me...turned and looked at like I just started leaking radioactive waste. That's just my luck.

Teen movies before Superbad were glossy productions where everyone looked like a 25 year old supermodel and you could tell adults wrote the script.
Superbad captured what teenagers actually look, dress, and sound like. Their school is nondescript, nobody is dressed in Armani, nobody has a 80k car. Even the pretty girls are cute without being glamorous. It changed the game.
