Joe lynn turner the voice that introduced me to the world of rock, the first time I heard it was in my dad's car, I remember that "stone cold" was one of the many songs by rainbow and many other bands that he had in his pen drive . From then on it was a one way trip, changing and changing songs until I hit some rainbow songs, eventually they became my favorite band, to this day! I deeply admire each member who has gone through rainbow, they are my inspiration. I am especially grateful to my father for inheriting his excellent taste in music, his favorite guitarist of all time was ritchie!. I miss you father
I had this VHS as a young teen. A birthday present from my parents. I remember it being like 50 bucks or something (back when VHS tapes cost a ton). Always thought they played this way to fast. I loved the mid tempo of the studio cut
Joe Lynn Turner was a great singer for Rainbow. They were all good. Each had a unique singing voice It is hard for me to select just one of the singers - Graham. Bonnet - DIO. My personal favorite songs are - Stone Cold - Man on the silver mountain - catch the Rainbow - Since you been gone
The whole concert is out of this world. I saw this concert a million times. I ordered the VHS from HMV, Canada, for $150. 00 Around 1996 or 1997. That was the only choice I had at the time.
Ahh, Bobby Rondinelli on the kit! Most people don't know, he came from, and went back to Quit Riot! He doesn't talk about being in this band in his interviews, but we in the know, know, 😂!!!
Ritchie is an AMAZING Guitar Player.. and a Very accomplished musician.. That being said.. It really makes me wonder why on So many songs it would just take the tempo into the Stratosphere .. I can see for a live performance .. Pick it up " A LIL ".. But .. ( to me ).. This is nearly Double Speed of the recorded version and just takes all the groove out of the song.. Ok.. That's enough Kvetching .. Carry On Ritchie.. Glad you're still around..
Yeah, I can see that. It's a pet peeve of mine when bands speed songs up too much for live performances. The groove is probably the main thing that suffers.
What no one today knows is how that stuff sounded back then. Tons of crown amps, Marshalls,, even a reel to reel ..lol, I think RITCHIE used it as a preamp, or back in day they used it for delay… tons of jbl’s and cv, stacks. Now kids get array speakers and digital crap. Everything sounds like a shitty phone now
You can Google the Concert. It is Straight Between The Eyes Tour San Antonio 1982. The Concert was Broadcasted on VHI if I remember correctly. It is great. They didn't show the back up singers except one fast Camera move which I believe they should have gotten a little more attention. Enjoy!
Deep Purple !
Fantastic. I think Raimbow we’re far more, I dunno, exciting than Deep Purple Mk 2. Richie of course Is a brilliant guitarist, the best ? But he jusr somehow comes alive in the Rainbow songs. I so love JLT too
Turner couldn't help his disease that caused him to lose his hair. I am 62 and have plenty of hair with very little gray. Not everyone was as fortunate. If I was in his shoes and had his career I am pretty sure I would have done the same thing. No judgment on someone that has no control over their circumstances. He was a great singer and front man. He is also the first person Ritchie let play a guitar with him.
saw the graham bonnet line-up and this line-up and BLACKMORE walked off half way through, both times.... during his second walk off in 82 the crowd started chanting....'blackmore is a wanker, blackmore is a wanker, la....lah,lah,lah....' then ritchie started playing along behind the amps.... talented but weird geezer....
He doesn't do that every show. He was cranked up because it was being Broadcasted Live on VHI. He was super energetic and put on a show. When Ritchie felt like it he was one of the Top Performers in the business. Pretty sure he had a few beers before the show.

🎉
Ritchie uploading old recordings, a song that makes sense even today...
The song absolutely makes sense today. We could be on the verge of what the song is talking about.

Tempo is way too fast, Turner cant even catch his breath keeping up. Your spot on

JLT always sounded phenomenal! And still does today!
The hairpieces for this band had their own roadie.
Hahaha that’s is funny Ritchie and Joe the only two guys who grow more hair with age

Ritchie in his prime ultimate showman
THIS IS WHAT'S MISSING FROM THE WORLD TODAY ...........!

Love the live performances or music videos from this band.
I Was There!!!!
Brilliant! 🤘🤘🤘
Caught this tour in Toronto on Wednesday June 9th with the Scorpions as the opening band. It was a great show!
I was there too. A few rows back on the floor. Mathias Jabs was great!
@@jonholland6067 Hell yeah, he was. Our seats were 5th row, center. Still have my ticket.

I seen this tour live ,when Ritchie did the overhand tap I swore off guitar right then n there, then got home and practiced my ass off
A staple on the early days of MTV
Welllll...this is a perfect song!!!
Quite as well as Power...from the next record.
Gosh I love this songs.
Came from a Rush live concert, that sounded like a studio recording, this is RAW as a fu*k.

Amazing!
Fantastic!

Awesome
God given guitarist
Favorite rocker with Turner is Power. Ballad, Street of Dreams.
Wimp ballad

If this was live (it looks like it was) It has been sweetened with female backing vocalists.

Geniuses 🌈
This is live, the tempo is little faster than the recorded version. but still a great performance.

I saw them on the Difficult to Cure tour. It was amazing..
🇺🇸 it's 2023 and if we don't vote wisely in 2024 it will happen here 🇺🇸
EXACTLY THATS I VOTED FOR TRUMP
Woo hoo , Trump 24 baby!!!!
Thats why Ritchie ist a LEGEND

Looks to me Richie wants everyone to catch up!!!!
❤
Epic.
Saw this tour w/ the scorpions and riot opening at the civic center in Providence R.I.
Richie is getting the fuck down!!!
Joe Lynn Turner - that is all
😮 son son unos auténticos cojonudos
At 2:17 there seems to be a disappointed fan giving two thumbs down, apparently pointing at Roger Glover.. What's up with that?
Fantastic. I think Raimbow we’re far more, I dunno, exciting than Deep Purple Mk 2. Richie of course Is a brilliant guitarist, the best ? But he jusr somehow comes alive in the Rainbow songs. I so love JLT too
Chuck Burgi is under rated. I remember poo pooing him when he joined Rainbow. I was a dumb kid. He is more well-rounded than Rondinelli.
I love Rainbow but they played many of their songs too fast live compared to the studio versions.
Most bands do that. Partially do to trying to fit as many song into the allowed tima as possible, and partially due to being excited.
Bands who play to a click track suck. So stale and boring.
Excellent
🎉🎉🎉❤🎉🎉🎉
It looks like the guy at 2.20 min in the audience was not impressed, given the thumbs down 👎 😂😂 each to their own.
Ahuevo, el peluquín Turner ♥ _ ♥

Joe Lynn Turner wearing a wig,and nobody knew🤘
❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
De admirat.

Ohh, ohh, oi Aegu ammuseid. 😉🎶💫👌
Why does Blackmore always speed up the songs when playing live.
So he can get the F out of there as soon as possible!
Looks like they are all doing cocaine, it is 1982 ....

@@kurtsherrick2066 I read an interview back then that said he was usually drunk every show. Just to make him relax.
Well, the singer and guitarists have real good hair. It's almost real.
