- Keith Ford and Paul Levy are back at Rock Island Auction Company, this time to show us a semi-auto civilian variant of the FN FNC military rifle. The "Fabrique Nationale Carabine" is chambered in 5.56 NATO and was a "lessons learned" follow-on to the unsuccessful FN CAL rifle of the 1960s. Like the CAL, the FNC clearly shows FAL heritage and also points ahead to the FN SCAR. Paul and Keith give us the scoop on the FN CAL's commonalities with these other guns AND its unique features. There's an FAL-style folding stock and pistol grip, AR-15 style pinned-and-hinged upper / lower receivers, an adjustable gas block, AK-ish long-stroke piston system, and a lower receiver and firing mechanism that carrier over to the SCAR. The piston system is very similar to the FN Minimi / M249 SAW, which was under development at the same time as the FNC. It uses a steel STANAG 4179 type magazine that's interchangeable with a U.S. M16 mag. The FN FNC was eventually adopted by the armies of Belgium, Sweden, and Indonesia (where it's built under license as the Pindad SS1 and SS2).

I loved the AK-5 (A better version of the FNC), to bad my regiment was not issued with them until the end of my service. It's a good rifle, i wish i could get one as a civilian.

The short compensator with exposed threads is one of the standard configurations. The first 1,000 FNCs imported to the US (by HOWCO) all had short compensators exactly as seen in this video, and were not marked 'Sporter' as with the other 5,000 FNCs imported by Gun South and Steyr, which had the long compensators.
@@risbee Could be, in the US, i live in Belgium and here they were never like that, in the military or on the civil rifles, i have an example of both in my collection and had the FNC as my service rifle in my 28 year service.

Sir do you know where I can sell my FN FNC it have a lower serial numbers. I never fire it before,I bought new at early 1990's. I also have original bayonet for it.

the hand guard is not as i found it, this model is different. - the one i found had a issue with sliding hands due to wet hands ( perspire )

I'm with you on that I had also missed the times where you could get rifles like this, but there is another route you could go. If you are into foreign rifles you should take a look at JDI firearms they have a lot of Swiss 550 series rifles. The company SIG Sauer AG in Switzerland makes rifles and the SIG 553 is an unlimited import. Even tough you can't get a lot of foreign weapons JDI is a good place to look at.

Pindad SS-1 that built in late 1989 to 1990s have alidade and gas stop to launch rifle grenade (we call Tabung Peluncur) and next version Pindad eliminate it (since TNI use m203)
SS-2 is diffrent in outside but likely in mecahnism is same. SS-2 have diffrent upper receiver and didnt have dust cover

Emang bukanlah, klo ss1 beda di bagian gas tube nya ama foregrip depannya. Handgrip klo g salah beda. Gada gas stop sama alidade trus buat sling/tali sandangnya beda tarohnya
