Ally’s “Nat 20 to be alive” is the stupidest and funniest shit ever. Cause when players ask for that, and the dm is like sure what’s the harm in that, and it SUCCEEDS, oh boy.
Fully changed the fate of the school and the series.
Brennan looks so crushed at that point. His face was like "why in the world did i agree to that."
That nat 20 prevented a TPK

Honestly Gourgugs nat 20 to meet his dad was the most wholesome thing ever and arguably the best nat 20 on the show

The mini Hospital Drama they run in the middle of an episode that ends in a Nat 20 is honestly my favorite
Brennan said his plan in that situation was to make the situation get gradually worse and worse, with Fig getting sucked into hellscape after hellscape until she rolled high enough to escape. I'm glad for what we got, but I wish I could have seen this.

I always thought Kristen's Nat 20 at the end was the best but upon rewatching the season, Fabian's Nat 20 is THE best. The fact that you had to literally roll a Nat 20 to beat another Nat 20 is like almost impossible. I flipped out!

It's my second favorite actual play show (favorite specifically dnd show), but Dimension 20 just slaps.
Personal fav quote from that fight is "Goblin or nae, that's TIGHT AS HELL"

Ally's Nat 20 during the prom fight and Brennan's reaction to it is priceless. He just looks dumbfounded and you can see the gears turning on "well shit, how do I make this into a narrative?"
It's definitely my favorite Nat 20 in all of season 1.

also birthed a new religion
I know that Fabien's nat20 was the best when it comes to statistics, but seeing as Kristen's literally saved the entire game and came from just a simple "can I do this thing just because?" makes Kristen's the best cinematically

Watching through the first season, Porter calls Gorgug "Gorbag". Not sure if this was intentional or just a name that happened to pop up during improvisation. I like the idea that Porter was also Gorbag's barbarian teacher and like many teachers, mixed up the names without thinking about it.

It’s perfectly believable Brennan pulled a name to misname Gorgug in the improv scene early on then just wrote it down for later because he thought it’d be a funny name for his dad to have when they met.

Some DMs: *Refuses the roll as that's not how the rules work*
Good DMs: *Allows the roll, if it's a Nat 20 bring them back with 1 hitpoint*
Brennan Lee Mulligan: *Allows the roll, if it's a Nat 20 builds an entire scene with multiple lore reveals, allowing the creation of a new god, bringing back the character with full hitpoints as well as a powerful wizard (albeit indisposed at the moment) and granting them a magic item that allows them to instantly take a long rest, rearrange themselves, as well as bringing a new party member, Sklonda, into the fray*
I only hope one day I can experience Brennans DMing firsthand. Wealth and Prestige be damned, give me Brennan as my foreverDM and I can die happy.
Technologicaly rules as writen say that a Nat 20 on a death saving throw allows you to come back with 1 HP, so the first DM isnt bad he us just shit
@@carso1500 This is by default only the case during your initial round of death saving throws, the distinction here being that Kristen was already stable.

I think this was the first DnD game they ever played and from what they’ve said they’ve never played outside of Dimension 20 yet so it’s incredible how poetic and gifted their dice are and how quickly they became so feral in excitement over it.
The nat20 for finding Gorgug’s dad really gets me in the heart every time 🥺❤️

Lou's 20 in the arcade is objectively the best reaction from everyone. All seven people collectively lose their minds and scream. Ally's 20s just defy all logic and probability in general. Always pulled out with perfect timing its the definition of preposterous.

as an actual adopted kid, gorgugs journey to find his dad was hilarious but actually very realistic, though I don't think that was intentional. i know personally its one of my intrusive thoughts that i definitely dont act upon lol but a constant what if in the back of my head. gorgug rolling a nat 20 at the end in the finale and actually finding his dad brought me to tears.
