I'm calling it now: Neo will not be leaving the Ever After. She has no family, loved ones, or purpose to return to in Remnant. She's solely motivated by her thirst for revenge. Unlike Emerald and Mercury, I cannot possibly see her being redeemed and switching sides. While it would be cool to see her try to get back at Cinder, story wise, it makes sense to assume someone who went to the Ever After won't return from it. Maybe she'll die, maybe get stuck there, maybe she'll stay behind willingly. Either way, I'm predicting that she will never set foot in Remnant again. Update: Somebody pick up the phone… BECAUSE I F***ING CALLED IT!!!
I feel the one character growth for her might be relating to letting go of her anger to Ruby but that will only happen if Ruby realizes the reason she is rentlessly attacking is because she blames Ruby for Roman's death. Through Ruby will need to be reminded of Roman for her to get that.

This technically isn't the first time Neo's done this. As a child in RWBY Roman Holdiay she subconsciously created...well Neo, who was her imaginary friend/split personality; however it shattered on impact when it punched someone. The evolution works wonders with the fact that she's always been able to do this, but her semblance has strengthened through the fact her 'Overactive Imagination' does not shatter immediately.
Her imaginary Neo was actually pretty durable by the time she was 18, as were most of her illusions. "Neo" shattered when Trivia's mother smacked her, due to Trivia exhausting all of her aura escaping the fire. The quantity is impressive, however.

She only joined up with Cinder after she displayed her maiden powers and knew she couldn't win and from that point on she didn't really have a choice since she was only around Cinder. And when she wasn't with Cinder and had the relic she was an enemy to everyone else and couldn't exactly go to them either.

Who killed that Grimm with Roman inside of it the second she could? Answer: Ruby. What extra, super killed a dead Roman and Grimm? The air ship crashing lol Like at some point we have to remember the details of the series we're watching and and the actions of the characters within. Cinder's crime was strong-arming a fellow criminal into criminal activities and paying for said services. Well...actually her crimes are numerous, likely uncountable at this point, but still...She didn't kill Roman
Following Cinder's plan got him killed. But it was die to Grimm or die to Cinder, not that he knew that at the time. But Cinder would've eventually betrayed and killed Roman if he survived.

And don’t forget that it was Cinder who had control over the Grimm at the time of the attack, it’s easy to come to the conclusion that Cinder ordered that Grimm to come and eat him, after all we don’t see anyone else getting that same treatment, not even Neo who was floating in the sky surrounded by those nevermore. Why didn’t she get eaten? After all it’s not like she *wasn’t* feeling so many negative emotions at that moment. While Roman and Neo are of course responsible for their part in the attack, it’s not fair to place Romans death solely at his feet when he didn’t have a choice, it was literally so this or he and neo dies.
The Neo Hive Mind would be a pretty funny thing to happen. But regardless, she is beyond redemption. Hell she's probably killed more people than Cinder has. Same with Roman, he killed a lot of people in volume 3 and he was laughing about it, and Neo seems to enjoy killing. Neo ain't Emerald, she has no conscience; both she and Roman were murderous psychopaths who simply fell under the power of an even worse faction and had to obey despite resenting the power being wielded over them. Don't get me wrong, Roman and Neo are my favorite characters in the series even if Roman's been dead for ages, but neither one of them deserves redemption.
Neo can make clones of herself now, I'm sure this is her semblance power boost in general or in this world. I now can see Neo do some WANDAVISION stuff with her powers, like create a clone of roman torchwick all for her, or torture and enslave this world with her powers, or something else crazy like GIant Neo Clones!
She was already able to do some very High scale illusions though. Remember back in Volume 2 when RWBY fought against Roman in a giant Mech : Before Yang landed a Super Saiyan powered punch, Neo used her illusions to create a fake and allow Roman to escape.

one thing i have to say, when she summons her clones or copy's to attack the creature, they were preparing to sprint and attack but instead just sexy walk over to him as he just sits there taking the mommy beating like a champ.
I will point out that the shaded figures in the opening surrounding Neo don’t look like her at all, in fact some of them look quite masculine. Though each of them could’ve decided to take on different appearances/genders, in order to make each of them unique?
I just think that her semblance evolved in the sense that they have more physical durability. I mean, she did duplicate herself and vanish as a means of misdirection during her fight with Cinder. Now, it seems she can actually make something 🤔 but it's still fragile
She's been able to double since she was a kid. This is new cause she never made a squad before. Personally I was hoping her semblance would evolve to make the copies talk, but only in the voices of those whom are copied.
and shapeshift them into other people so imagine her creating 4 clones that shapeshift into team rwby and team rwby nearly kills one another and loses her trust in them cause neos disguised as them. and the 5th clone can stay as neo so once they realize the truth they attack neo only to realize it was her as a clone. not to mention the truama she can cause by shapeshifting into other characters. like adam, summer, pyrrha, penny
I mean neos never had a problem being outnumbered or outgunned really ever because of her skill. She’s taken out yang and Weiss together, all of team JNR and Oscar to get the relic, ruby and Weiss while she was trying to kill ruby, put enough pressure on cinder to make her pull out her maiden powers and honestly her and cinder took on all of team RWBY, all of team JNR, and penny as a maiden and cinder still won(really due to time constraints with Salem awakening and cinder running away because we know winter as a maiden was about to END cinder) all of rwby+ John fell, penny DIED as a last ditch effort to protect the maiden powers because even with all of them together cinder almost had it,and neo would’ve gotten her victory if cinder didn’t betray her because time and again Team rwby has been shown to not be able to stack up to neo and rwby was STRUGGLING balancing staying alive and getting people to safety which a LOT of citizens fell during that attack
It was crazy seeing her semblance evolve. Neo is already an amazing fighter and utilizes her semblance well. Now, they are less likely to shatter on impact which makes it even more OP. I wonder if her illusions will spread out and search for Team RWBY or cause even more chaos in the Ever After. There's so much potential. Also, this scene reminded me of Rey in Star Wars when she looks into the Dark side and sees reflections of herself. Absolutely gave me chills
They'll probably take different look but with Neo's kind of outfit ? Like Neo they will (I think) use illusion to change how they look, The shadows in the opening are corresponding in numbers, they're 9 and they're 9 Neos in this clip ! They might have they're own consciousness
Because it wasn’t overpowered enough before.. but yea this is gonna be troublesome. Although I do like the consistency of Semblances Evolving when the user is undergoing an Intense emotional state.
You know considering where they are I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw one of these clones adopt Trivia’s personality. Considering when Trivia first did this she created a friend/her split personality Neo, this could be an avenue for Trivia to come back. I mean if Penny could be giving a body from the creation relic who’s to say in a realm of magic weirdness that Trivia doesn’t regain her self back. But it’s cool to see her getting this aspect of her semblance back
Neo is very good characters she’s perfect the way she is and the fact you really have to guess what her intentions are bc she doesn’t talk makes her more loveable I hope she never changes and she gets the ending she deserved after being betrayed so much
I strongly disagree about the whole guessing intentions thing. Specifically because she is mute, there's ten times the work put into her body language. She seems like an open book to me.
Since her semblance is "overactive imagination," and the Ever After is a fantasy world, it makes sense that this world would respond differently to Neo. I'm guessing that her powers are going to continue to be elevated by the Ever After.
So near the end it seems that Neo's Semblance has been augmented. She can create duplicates of herself. By herself, she's dangerous, but now she has her own army Who would win? Neo vs Haku (Naruto)
Definitely still Haku. Those glass mirrors were only able to be broken by a nine tailed state boosted Naruto. Something the normal Naruto and sasuke couldn’t break. Doubt Neo is built with much power. Yes I know she one shot yang. But that’s because aura is written by 8 year olds on this show lol.

The whole fairytale they are in is Alice in Wonderland based, so this volume and the story of The Girl Who Fell Through The World is all a remnant version of Alice in Wonderland.
I knew coming back to this show was a good idea. Now I'm really intrigued to see how she puts this use. Also pour one out for the Jabberwalker that did not sound pleasant.
I feel like this evolution is great but not fully new. She has shown to be able to make clones before. (Her fight against Cinder and against Oscar + team JNR) But only 1 and not this many that are capable of acting on their own it seems
1:00 the animation/framing there is all wonky. Neo on the right gets right up close while looking forward off behind the camera, while Neo on the left looks down towards the camera. Overall just a bad shot. Also, they should have just had the right Neo have the same animation and speed as the rest, she sticks out way too much as she is the only one that's moving differently is different.
I like how Neo is clearly confused as it starts but once there's a few semblance clones and she sees that they mimic her if she's not intentionally doing anything with them she decides to try ordering them to fight and upon seeing that it worked immediately comes to the conclusion that she's got this.
This is so broken when you really think about it because now she dosent just need to turn into people she can make clones of them I honestly would rather this come before during the whole ironwood situation so it's more of false deseption then team rwby lying to ironwood for no reason
Like someone else pointed out this explains the others behind Neo in the opening. Though what I’m thinking is that Neo’s gonna turn the ever after against RWBY. With the evolution of her semblance Neo just needs to find someone with power like the Jabberwalker. The Red Prince is one example regarding his army, all she needs to do it kill him, make an illusion to take his place, and she’d have an army at her disposal.
I can’t tell if turning into Ruby and Cinder is intentional or a sign that Neo is losing control of her Semblance. Would not be surprised if her clones wind up attacking her out of confusion.
She actually demonstrates this clone ability in Battle Cross Tag, years before this moment, so it's less an evolution and more something obscure she could do getting the spotlight.

I will point out that the shaded figures in the opening surrounding Neo don’t look like her at all, in fact some of them look quite masculine.
Though each of them could’ve decided to take on different appearances/genders, in order to make each of them unique?
I just think that her semblance evolved in the sense that they have more physical durability. I mean, she did duplicate herself and vanish as a means of misdirection during her fight with Cinder. Now, it seems she can actually make something 🤔 but it's still fragile

She's been able to double since she was a kid. This is new cause she never made a squad before. Personally I was hoping her semblance would evolve to make the copies talk, but only in the voices of those whom are copied.

and shapeshift them into other people so imagine her creating 4 clones that shapeshift into team rwby and team rwby nearly kills one another and loses her trust in them cause neos disguised as them. and the 5th clone can stay as neo so once they realize the truth they attack neo only to realize it was her as a clone. not to mention the truama she can cause by shapeshifting into other characters. like adam, summer, pyrrha, penny
I mean neos never had a problem being outnumbered or outgunned really ever because of her skill. She’s taken out yang and Weiss together, all of team JNR and Oscar to get the relic, ruby and Weiss while she was trying to kill ruby, put enough pressure on cinder to make her pull out her maiden powers and honestly her and cinder took on all of team RWBY, all of team JNR, and penny as a maiden and cinder still won(really due to time constraints with Salem awakening and cinder running away because we know winter as a maiden was about to END cinder) all of rwby+ John fell, penny DIED as a last ditch effort to protect the maiden powers because even with all of them together cinder almost had it,and neo would’ve gotten her victory if cinder didn’t betray her because time and again Team rwby has been shown to not be able to stack up to neo and rwby was STRUGGLING balancing staying alive and getting people to safety which a LOT of citizens fell during that attack

It was crazy seeing her semblance evolve. Neo is already an amazing fighter and utilizes her semblance well. Now, they are less likely to shatter on impact which makes it even more OP. I wonder if her illusions will spread out and search for Team RWBY or cause even more chaos in the Ever After. There's so much potential. Also, this scene reminded me of Rey in Star Wars when she looks into the Dark side and sees reflections of herself. Absolutely gave me chills

You know considering where they are I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw one of these clones adopt Trivia’s personality. Considering when Trivia first did this she created a friend/her split personality Neo, this could be an avenue for Trivia to come back. I mean if Penny could be giving a body from the creation relic who’s to say in a realm of magic weirdness that Trivia doesn’t regain her self back. But it’s cool to see her getting this aspect of her semblance back

Neo is very good characters she’s perfect the way she is and the fact you really have to guess what her intentions are bc she doesn’t talk makes her more loveable I hope she never changes and she gets the ending she deserved after being betrayed so much

Definitely still Haku. Those glass mirrors were only able to be broken by a nine tailed state boosted Naruto. Something the normal Naruto and sasuke couldn’t break. Doubt Neo is built with much power.

1:00 the animation/framing there is all wonky. Neo on the right gets right up close while looking forward off behind the camera, while Neo on the left looks down towards the camera. Overall just a bad shot. Also, they should have just had the right Neo have the same animation and speed as the rest, she sticks out way too much as she is the only one that's moving differently is different.

I like how Neo is clearly confused as it starts but once there's a few semblance clones and she sees that they mimic her if she's not intentionally doing anything with them she decides to try ordering them to fight and upon seeing that it worked immediately comes to the conclusion that she's got this.
This is so broken when you really think about it because now she dosent just need to turn into people she can make clones of them I honestly would rather this come before during the whole ironwood situation so it's more of false deseption then team rwby lying to ironwood for no reason
Like someone else pointed out this explains the others behind Neo in the opening. Though what I’m thinking is that Neo’s gonna turn the ever after against RWBY. With the evolution of her semblance Neo just needs to find someone with power like the Jabberwalker. The Red Prince is one example regarding his army, all she needs to do it kill him, make an illusion to take his place, and she’d have an army at her disposal.
