First time I listened to this I did not think any of these would work for me 4 & 5 yr old kids. BUT I thought about our space and how much my kids love art. I floated the idea of turning our playroom into an art room. My kids actually CHEERED and happily agreed to pack up their toys to make space for it! THANK YOU for your help Dawn!!! Anyone reading this I would encourage you to give one of these ideas a try!!!

Thank you so much for your video! I played it with the sound on while my husband sat nearby on the couch doing something else. When it was over he got up (without me even asking!) and went to clean out the kids' toys. It was like magic! I think it also helps that I cleaned out and organized an area of the kitchen and he can really see how much nicer it is with just that one small change. Plus it really helps get a plan in my head of how I want to approach our problem areas, too. Thank you thank you thank you!

I listened to this a couple of years ago and decided to go back and listen again. My kids wanted to have a yard sale this coming Saturday and I was really dreading it. I just want this stuff out of my house! I told them that it’s raining right now and we don’t know if it will rain on Saturday, it’s right after Christmas so no one is looking for kids toys and we don’t even have enough to have a yard sale. Then I asked if I can buy their toys. They both (without hesitation) said, “yes mama!” I am so relieved right now! How awesome! I’m going to go pack up my car now! Woohoo! Thank you!

It's got me thinking, we can convert the toy room into a media/creative room. Craft and colouring in, books/library and tv.

A media room? that is a very good idea and one I hadn't thought of. I have 4 kids, myself, ages 7-13 and a media room would definitely intrigue them more than a library (they have a bookshelf full of books as it is). Thank you.

      Hannah Bezanson Dear Parents,
In my opinion, kids could also get toys at other times if they have been very good and good kids all the time. If there is any kind of trip or Disneyland going, then I think the kids should get something out there because the things they bought from the trips are still very valuable souvenirs that are not sold in shops, and every thing that is bought, will be remembered for their wonderful trips.
I highly recommend that you let the children choose what they like very much, their biggest dream and buy it. Children may not like them at all. Purchase only the things that they really wanted and make them really happy. Sometimes they could rarely allow children to have the toys they deserve with their great nobility. If children are still very good, then, very rarely, they could just as well afford more expensive things. Very expensive things, then for the holidays.
I advise against banning things that children really like, because then they start plans to just want more. I advise not to buy all the time, but sometimes very rarely still be able to afford something if they have been very good children for a long time. I certainly also recommend that you let the children choose from online stores, because there are just so many rare, popular, exciting, cakey, and sweet things that may not be available in stores.
Every child has the right to keep all the toys because they are valuable! If you have space, let them keep everything in their childhood! Keep the toys, if the kids like them very much!!!
Could you please forward these messages to the other people and parents too, because it is very important for all of us that every single kid can get the best childhood ever and their dreams should also come true and they will be very happy then!!! It will teach all the parents, how to give the best childhood for their children!!! This is the best lesson for all the parents!!!
      Thank You!
      Respectfully,
      Astra Viil

I hate organizing garage sales and Craigslist sales too. When my daughter was 6 a consignment shop started paying $5 for a paper bag of clothes. I offered that deal to my daughter, for anything she wanted to get rid of: $5 for each full paper bag. She filled so many bags to get rid of! It gave her a little money to buy new things, but not nearly enough to replace the amount of stuff she got rid of.
The kids want to get guinea pigs and actually the best place for a run would be where the toys are stored in the living room right now. Hmm...

This is so me too! My dad's love language to me growing up was putting a candy bar on my pillow or getting me my favorite toy that I was asking for, and I always felt his love so I have been doing this with my own kids but I don't even know if it's their love language. I've realized I need to figure out what their love language is and speak that, because it very well may not be gifts even when I think it is. I really try to explore all the other love languages with them like touch and words of affection and time spent with them and service. I've noticed they feel much more loved when I spend one-on-one quality time with them as opposed to buying them new gifts

You said that the boys loved the trucks they put into boxes to help out! Did they go into storage in the attic or did they go to other kids right away via a thrift store donation, or what?

Thanks for the advice, Minimal Mom! I was going insane from the amount of stuff we accumulated, and my son wasn't willing to let go of anything. He doesn't use money yet, but we managed to bribe him with small crystals. He asked for a collection of crystals and minerals, so I proposed a trade. For each big toy he donates, I would buy him one stone (priced $1-$2.) He rushed to his room to find toys to donate, it was like magic.

I honestly don’t know what to do with my son. His room is a disaster. I wish we had figured out his personality years ago and started him as a minimalist, because he’s got some ocd stuff going on. So if I offer to buy his toys, he’s just going to try to buy the same ones again because nothing is unimportant to him. 🤦‍♀️

I strongly recommend that you please all be so kind and let the children keep things that they really have been dealing with all the time and love them so much so far!!!If you see that children love these things very much and want to give up beloved things, then under no circumstances should you remove these things, and then not if they are already grownups and want to keep those things in mind in memory of childhood!!!If there really is no room, then just buy the storage boxes and the problem is solved!!! I also have many things at home, but I've been able to keep everything in good condition thanks to these storage boxes and I do not see any problem!!!If you can see that the kids are really good at keeping things up very well after dealing and the rooms are absolutely perfectly clean every day, please let them keep things until they really want it !!! If they can not clean it, then teach them and if they are cleaning everything, then keeping things is not a problem if there are big storage boxes. If children want to keep their things up,then let them do it !!! Children still want to make their own collections, videos and in the future they would definitely want to give their old things to their children !!!If there is no room at all, then take some things, but not all things, if they like their things very much !!! I consider collectibles of children's things to be very valuable, because for some time they become rare and there is no way to get them again! I have a very big Disney collection in my home and there are other things too. I do not give anything away because these are my things!!! If I have decided to keep my childhood things, then I'll keep them forever!!!I'm very experienced in childhood things and I know that things in childhood needs to be kept so that you can remember the old good times and in the future give them to your children!!!
Reminder and teachings for parents and children!!!

Hello! Dear parents Every child has the right to keep all the toys in place because they are valuable. If too much toys are produced, some things have to be done. But I would advise you to keep the rest of the toys. If the child is still a toy, then you do not have to give it. It's not like that. You can not buy too many toys. I would like to give superfluous toys to poor children who live somewhere in the countryside.
