14 year old hearing for 1st time in 90's couldn't figure out why song sounded so familiar i knew i loved it but felt more than just that. Later find that unaware to me i'd been listening to it since a baby an account of my mum playing Simon & Garfunkel lol .Don't know if the LEMON HEADS were a bigger deal in America but here in England this is basically their 1 hit wonder. Always considered this version on par with S&G version. If a band can do S&G cover without sounding like a pale imitation they've gotta have talent. What ever happened to The Lemon Heads ??
They didn't release this as a single in the UK as they didn't want to get that one hit wonder status on a cover version. What else can I say apart from "It's a shame about Ray".
Mrs Robinson is from the album “Bookends” by Simon & Garfunkel (S & G). I was just a wee lad of 4 when it was released, I lived near Chicago, Illinois in a town called Naperville. My older brothers had all kinds of albums strewn about the house, but by far my favorite was Bookends. I listened to it over and over, as a young lad is wont to do, and there is one particular thing that I always remembered from that album, and I will share it with you today. In the single “Voices of old people,” S & G apparently went into a nursing home and recorded some old people talking - I’m not sure if it was with or without their knowledge of being recorded, but I would guess they did not know - and there is one particular moment when some old lady clears her throat in a way only the old can, and then she blurts out “God forgive me, but an old person without money is pathetic.” I always remembered that.
As a teenager (which wasn't that long ago) I used to play this song over and over again just so I could jump on the couch and run around the living room like a maniac
Back in 1999, a dear friend of mine named Larry came over to my house, along with another friend who brought his guitar. I sat at the piano, and the guitarist and I started jamming on Mrs Robinson, as Larry and I sang this song in harmony. About five years ago Larry died of cancer. I will never forget the two of us singing this song in harmony. I know Paul Simon was originally mad about this cover, but eventually decided he liked it. I like to think he would have enjoyed me and Larry singing it in harmony too. I miss you Larry. You were a great singer.

It would have made more sense if you'd said, "roost" as that's how it's used as a euphemism, as well as the movie.
Chickens roost at night. Free range chickens will peck and scratch for bits of food during the day. But, as dusk begins to fall, those chickens will always, always come back to their roosts for safety. You can create problems and bullshit, but it will always come back to bite you in the butt. .. Kinda like that... It's what is known as a "truism".
Roost*
I'm roasting chicken lol
And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know
Wo wo wo
God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
Hey hey hey, hey hey hey
We'd like to know a little bit about you for our files
We'd like to help you learn to help yourself
Look around you all you see are sympathetic eyes
Stroll around the grounds until you feel at home
And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson,
Jesus loves you more than you will know
Wo wo wo
God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hide it in the hiding place where no one ever goes
Put it in your pantry with your cupcakes
It's a little secret just the Robinson's affair
Most of all you've got to hide it from the kids
Koo-koo-ka-choo, Mrs. Robinson,
Jesus loves you more than you will know
Wo wo wo
God bless you, please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray
Hey, hey, hey hey, hey, hey
Sitting on a sofa on a Sunday afternoon
Going to the candidates' debate
Laugh about it, shout about it
When you've got to choose
Every way you look at this you lose
Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio
Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you
Wu wu wu
What's that you say, Mrs. Robinson
Jolting Joe has left and gone away
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey

This song was originally written for Mrs. Roosevelt, First Lady to the President that lifted America out of the Depression, through WWII and into the economic boom, baby boom '50's... It was meant as a nostalgic song about a more innocent, honest time... A church-going time... A more hopeful time... America had lost its way and was looking back...
The wonderful 90s that will never come back...
Love this version! 🎵🎶🎼
when the cover is better than the original
The chickens had come home to roost.....whatever the fuck that means.
Idk why but I always imagine Donnie pressing enter and delete on first bear 😂 good song
If they had made a TV sitcom or dramedy adaptation of The Graduate in the 90s, this would have been the theme song.
