As a 12 year old in 1995, it took me about a year and a half to realize that weezer was in fact NOT a band from the 50s that happened to be in a sitcom from the 70's and for some reason ended up on the win95 installation disk.
I think the reason it was bundled on win95 disc as an "extra" was to demonstrate an example of high quality video playback. For many if not most in Generation X, this was the FIRST music video we ever saw on a computer screen, since it came on a CD with Windows 95. And that's for all of time!
Yes, same! My parents bought a 1GB computer with that disc, it was the first time I heard Weezer. This video confused me, as it was a total anachronism - really well done - loved it then and still do now. They became my favourite band from then on. I never get tired of their original sound, even now I'm 48.
@@BartkovSmirnovsky haha, no, I'm pretty sure 1GB was the whole thing, it was a big deal at the time to be entering the 1GB threshold. It was the main selling point of the computer. I think that's why they named it the Colossus 1GB. Seems funny now.
Even some of us older Millennials can remember this! My parents also bought a Win 95 computer with the disc, it was a Packard Bell pentium 166mhz, 16MB of RAM 1MB of video memory and a 28.8 modem that was updated to the screaming fast 56K modem (still remember my dad saying this when he bought the modem)! I just randomly discovered the video while bored browsing through the disc one time, it was a real holy crap a full music video is actually playing on my computer right now moment! It wasn't the first time I heard the song, my parents listened to all rock radio as I was growing up and song was getting airplay here, the only Weezer song to get airplay here until Hash Pipe years later.
I love the smashing pumpkins and always will. They got me through a lot of bad things in life so did bush I’m glad we had bands. That made us better people
I have a very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, unhealthy obsession with this song. I just can't help it.
Reminded me of my 9th grade US History teacher. One time when she was a kid, she got to be in the audience of the famous Howdy Doody show. There were no reruns, or home videos of this program when she told us this in 1996. Yet she swore that the scene in Back to the Future III, she was one of the kids in the beginning singing the theme song It’s Howdy Doody Time! If true, how cool would that be? Never knowing that one day you’d grow up and teach a bunch of kids who saw (heard) you sing in a very famous movie, and that one day, their kids will as well. BTW, that was also the same year I heard of this song. A bunch of kids wouldn’t stop singing it when I did Mary Tyler Moore for my project.
I was at Walmart two days ago and it started playing and I got VERY confused because this isn’t even remotely what I’m used to hearing there, but my Win95 CD nostalgia memories were very happy with that surprise.

For those who can’t quite put their fingers on what gives the song its unique sound, it’s written with the word 'girl'. It's a strange made-up word but it has its own vibe that Weezer pulls of masterfully.

For many if not most in Generation X, this was the FIRST music video we ever saw on a computer screen, since it came on a CD with Windows 95. And that's for all of time!
I remember this song and "Edie Brickell - Good Times" on my computer
Seems funny now.
and along side this great tune on the win95 cd was th-cam.com/video/tDl3bdE3YQA/w-d-xo.html

Imagine being an extra on Happy Days in 1975; then 20 years later, your kids are watching MTV and you see yourself dancing in the latest music video!
That's what I think of when I see Henry Winkler in this video.
THAT my friends, is immortality.
I love this song
That's good to know dear Natalie..I really love this song is my favourite...I hopefully you wouldn't mind us being good friends?
