It was the first Video I had ever played on my Computer. Produced by Gaffin Records. Those were the days my friends! We'd thought they'd never end.
This song is what got me through the flu when I was 9 years old and on the verge of death in 1994. It will always remembered as the song that gave me life. ✨
I had a time when I was vomiting and shite'n myself severely and the original Foo Fighters album got me through it. Mostly For All The Cows and This Is A Call. I believe I was 13.
The technology for this type of clip is commonplace nowadays. But when my 14 year old self first saw this in 1994 i was so genuinely mind blown that the only conclusion i could reach was that these guys were actually a much older group who had recorded that song years earlier and played it on a Happy Days episode. There was no other possible explanation.
I was 24 when the video came out and I still couldn't but think that I'd missed something on one of the "Happy Days" reruns. The production value of the video still hold up today tbh.
There was little to no technology used, and zero digital effects. I'd say the methods used here are largely dead because of (over)use of cgi, compositing etc today. Most of it is just alternating between old & new footage, along with 'Al' being acted in the new scenes by the original actor, in a recreated set. The new actors clothes aren't even identical, but it's close enough that you don't notice. None of the recognizable actors faces are ever shown in the new footage(with Weezer) for this reason, such as when 'the Fonz' is dancing and you only see him from the back. This is why it still looks good, because it's all real. The only thing I thought at the time they must've used some kind of effect for was having them with 'Al', as I didn't know the same actor did it.
Can we just acknowledge that this was made in the 90s and they made it look like they made it in a 70s show about the 50s!? This is absolute freakin genius! So seamless and done in such great taste!
hey, this might seem crazy but, i know the original buddy holly personally, my dad has worked with him and as a child i met him, he's a really nice guy! EDIT: it's a joke, not real. I only know the actor of the musical that plays him

Hi I Recommend a song & video called 'looking Into the Mirror' by Robert Nix
Like my life 😊
The technology for this type of clip is commonplace nowadays.
It’s also pretty cool they have period correct guitars, the bass is an original P bass with a single coil with no cover
Still one of my deceased grandma’s best live performances

Can we just acknowledge that this was made in the 90s and they made it look like they made it in a 70s show about the 50s!? This is absolute freakin genius! So seamless and done in such great taste!
Back in the 90s, I had thought this was done with CGI, but it's really just clever editing and using the real Al who was still alive at the time.
Why did you think they used CGI?
Yes, very cleverly done.
