    I have 2.0T Macan and it is an ideal premium family car. The engine is lovely and smooth and more than up to the job

    Great review, Brian! The 2.0 engine is more than adequate for daily driving. It's gutsy and punchy plus lighter over the front axle. This is the perfect entry into the brand

    People are crazy about engines, but I prefer comfort and style over 0 to 60, anything under 7 seconds are fast enough

    • @inox1ck
      @inox1ck 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      gary zhao Even under 9 sec is fine, I have a bmw x1 and it's 9.3s but still it does the job well. But under 7 sec is more than enough for a suv. But if you want 2 in 1, family plus sports car, you can get the bigger engine.

    I built one of these with the online configurator. I checked almost every option available and the cost of all the options ended up being a couple thousand more than the base price of the vehicle. In total the $47,500 base Macan with all the options I chose ended up being just shy of $100,000. Keep in mind that this was a base 4 cylinder Macan. Porsche and their options are insane.

    • @EverydayReviews2022
      @EverydayReviews2022  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, you can build up any model of Porsche to crazy numbers. I honestly think that the base is equipped quite well. I think all I would add would be the Porsche Entry and Drive and the 19" Wheels. It wold still only be about 50K

      No one checks all Porsche option boxes unless they own an oil field or print money on Wall Street. This is clear to people seriously considering these type of cars.

    Your last line sums it up quite well. This is a "GP" model meaning gateway Porsche. Another fine review BC.

    Wow I’m the second owner of my base Macan and it’s crazy to see how many upgrades the original buyer did. To hear that this car doesn’t have navigation or the sunroof is crazy!

    I’ve just purchased a 2015 diesel S in exchange for a 2014 Kia Sportage KX4. With over 17 grands worth of extras the original purchaser will have paid over 60 grand for the Porsche when new. These are some of the things I miss from my Kia. Reversing camera as standard, missing from a 60 grand car, shocking! Cleverly designed retractable rear parcel shelf was a nice touch I used all the time to deter opportunist rear window smashing thieves who could see clearly there was nothing worth stealing in the back. The autonomous parallel parking system was excellent. Some of the steering wheel functions far more intuitive such as cruise control. Keyless entry and start up was also a big plus for me, again hugely expensive optional extras missing from my Macan. I had the Kia over three and a half years and it never missed a beat. The Koreans are a clever bunch with an amazing work ethic. Ignore them at your peril.

  • @cserrie23
    @cserrie23 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Pretty fair video review. I own a 2017 base but added Nav, sun roof, wheels, cooled leather seats, and a few other things. Let's just say its the perfect daily commuter with a couple of small issues. The heated seat control doesn't automatically decline in severity like my Benz. You have to manually decrease the settings. No PCM in Canada so many features are missing and the voice control for navigation input is well...... horrible. Also, the Benz provides more highway info when traveling like hotels, rest stops etc not available in the Porsche or at least I can't find them. I also like that regardless how much you spend you get the same quality materials and switch gear unlike benz where the quality of the car and materials is dependent on how much you spend. The options do add considerably to the price so think hard before you check the box. I didn't see any value in experience or enjoyment by buying the higher end models. The improvements in speed were noticeable just not a good value proposition in my estimate for my needs. A better value in speed and space would have been the F Type Jag in that case.

      cserrie23 I need a 4 door for a car, since I'm young. I looked at the macan and saw an affordable Porsche that looks nice and is a 4 door. I designed one online, I just made it white, put the gts wheels on them, put the 18 way memory seats, black leather interior, for other modifications I put the navigation, Porsche detail on the headrests, fire extinguisher, heated seats in the rear, and that's all. It said it would cost about 53k but when the Porsche dealership called about it, they told us we would get it for 48k. I don't really care about sun roof or whatever.

    The price is a total lie because they rip out all of the options that are now standard on even the cheapest of cars nowadays, and then they charge ridiculous prices for putting them back in. Who the hell is going to drive around a brand new Porsche with halogen headlights when your neighbor has a corolla with LED lights?

    • @sidshetye
      @sidshetye 7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      True. Hard to call it a luxury vehicle when standard equipment falls behind even the economy segment. I love my Porsche and BMWs but it's getting competitive and the Germans better up their game.

    Modern tires eliminate the need for winter tires. I've driven in a storm with deep snow drifts and deep snow for a 400 miles stretch in the U.S. in a Volvo and never once skidded or lost control, this was on a major highway that only had a little more than one lane open in each direction and on secondary two ways highways at speed limit without a hitch. These conditions were more difficult than some I had encountered in Canada and the car handled superbly. It is an awd and had Scorpion tires. There was absolutely no need whatsoever to use winter tires. I'm sure the Macan is as good in snow if not better.

    What a trooper .... review on sick boy. Good straight forward review. My question relates to big mountain passes here at altitude in Colorado ..just wondering if you think that 4 cyl engine would still be enough here ....my gut says no. But never the less, that engine would be just fine for about 80% of the car buying public. cheers. BW

    This car will save you from all the speeding tickets, not to say you won't get any. Have a look at the Volks Tiguan 2.0T, Forester XT which also have 2.0T and significantly cheaper, not the same luxury level but they are nice.

    Funny, in the UK we pay more is £££'s than shipping them all the way to Canada where the exchane rate is $1.60 to £1.
    Same car here if you were paying in Canadian would be $75,000 CAD

    • @EverydayReviews2022

      iVlog Somewhere halfway across the globe a tiny country called Singapore, we are paying CAD$280000 or £161000 for a base Macan before any options. Prius costs CAD$130000. OUCH.

    The new Macan. $92,800 driveaway.*
    For all the missed opportunities and forced compromises. The litres of swallowed pride. It’s finally time you said yes. Your dreams have never been closer.

    I don't understand those that spend 80k+ so that there's a turbo badge on the back of their Macan. You're throwing your money away, when this base 50k model looks exactly the same. It's really well equipped, they even have PDK standard which is a 3500 dollar option on the 911/718

    • @Loachie90
      @Loachie90 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It isn't always about looks or the badge. Maybe they want 400hp?

    • @essel23fly

      Michael Vuong Because the Macan handles WORLDS better, looks better, and is nicer inside. The Macan, even the base, is a driver's car. The Toyota is the antithesis of a driver's or enthusiast's car.

    These luxury carmakers, most especially European, are milking customers too much. Sad thing is, they can get away with it because rich customers are willing to get ripped off. I love European luxury cars, but I don’t like to be overly taken advantaged of. Will have to settle with Japanese or even Korean luxury. Waiting for the release of Genesis luxury suv’s. I like how Genesis keeps it simple and basically fully loads their base models.
