Owned a Macan S for 3 years. It is a truly excellent all-purpose SUV. It's been used everywhere from unmade roads in Scotland in appalling weather conditions to Central London traffic. As with everything, there are compromises. It is not really an off-road car, but we didn't need that. It is not roomy in the rear and if you have the sunroof, that reduces the headroom. As a retired couple who travel a lot in the UK and rarely have adults in the rear for anything but short journeys, it is fine. We wanted a medium size SUV so not a Cayenne, a Range Rover or anything that size, not even an X5 or big Merc. Won't touch diesel, so the limited engine choice on an X3 3 years ago ruled that out which, together with some dissatisfaction with our local servicing, ended our 30 years+ uninterrupted BMW ownership. Width is an issue for us, and the FPace is wider. It is also far more expensive if you want S-level performance as is the AudiQ5. You can spend a large fortune on speccing up the Macan. My brother bought the 2-litre (he'd rather have lots of extras than performance) and by the time he'd finished, it cost £10k more than our S! For security reasons, we avoid keyless entry. Best buys are the sunroof and the 18-way sports seats (really comfortable with very good adjustable side and lumbar support) with full driver memory. Sat Nav is overpriced and does not show speed cameras. You can use one of the many free phone apps or, as we do, a high spec. independent unit. Niggles: 1. the alarmist parking sensors. They can drive you crazy when parking in a small space, which is exactly where you need them. They also activate automatically at low speeds so sitting next to a lorry in traffic can set them off. Merc or BMW are both better. 2. For some reason, if you activate the tailgate opening, it unlocks the whole car. Not a great problem, if when you closed the tailgate, it relocked the car. It doesn't so you have to lock the car again. This is not a programming issue. I have discussed this with Porsche and that's the way it is unless it has changed on the later iterations. 3. The car comes with a 340 page+ manual and it's not always easy to find what you need to know. I've had to go to TH-cam to find out how to change the clock because it's not obvious and is, in fact, counterintuitive. The infotainment system is a bit old-fashioned, but so am I. It is not a sports car, so get over it. The car is quick, even without engaging sport mode or using the paddles. The handling in all conditions is excellent, as you'd expect from a sophisticated 4WD. For sheer driving experience and driver engagement, it can't compare with a 2 seater sports car or even with our beloved M cars, but it is a pleasure to drive and ticks all our current boxes.
I drove my brother-in-law's new 2017 Macan S, and I loved it...Porsches are awesome! But for me, the revelation happened when I got back into my 2012 Acura TSX Sport Wagon, and realized that for $20k (letting the original owner take the depreciation), the quality of the interior, the seats, the suspension and the gem of an inline 4 makes that vehicle a freaking bargain. However, if I wanted to spend $50k+, the Macan would be on the short list for sure.
We own a Macan S and let me tell you, that my kids 9 and 12 are absolutely annoyed when I ask them about the space in the back... because they tell me, that they are perfectly happy with it. Personally I would like to have adjustable back seats as seen in the Cayenne but as I mentioned kids are happy with the seating. Looking forward to your coming Cayenne Adventure, thanks for all your fantastic reviews.
Great review Zack ..and Andrea !! I was hesitant before my test drive of the Macan 2.0T (Porsche would be mad I called it that) After driving it I found it to perform more than adequately, tomb silent .. but adequately. sadly, it's totally lacking the Porsche soundtrack that in my belief makes the Porsche experience so magical...For the price point it's excellent and like you stated , it will meet 99% of people's daily needs. Also If prudent you're able to build one to look very similar to a Macan turbo for under 60k.. that would most likely be my route, along with an aftermarket exhaust and a tune to open her up a bit. Sweet car though and a great review. Can't beat it, Thanks Zack !
All you doubters and misinformed Hyundai fans...my "other" car is a Carrera 4S. The Macan base w/Sport Chrono is as much fun to drive as you're ever going to find in a $50K SUV, period. While some SUV owners lust for sunroofs and push button starters, the primary reason I buy them is to be able to drive confidently, defensively and safely on icy and snow covered mountain roads. For that purpose, the Macan goes beyond the badge and exemplifies the slogan...there is no substitute.
Agree. It's not about mostly useless buttons and silly sunroofs. It's the driving performance. All Porsche Macans ride, handle, and accelerate beyond other manufacturer's vehicles. The steering feel and stability of their cars at any speed is superb. The race tested PDK transmission, dry sump oil system, and suspension system are superior. It's a driver's car.
Macan, Q7, or Model S ? For not necessarily a daily driver but something that’s spacious, fun/comfortable drive, and a good hint of luxury. Around 2015-2017 models
Why is it "surprisingly good"? Porsche make great cars. At least you acknowledge just how well they handle. It would be surprising if it wasn't good. Great review, I'm just surprised at your surprise. No surprises here. I prefer the diesel S, now discontinued.
Good review and well expressed on the reasons why the entry level Macon will be more popular, less cost being a huge factor. The thought that came to me is it could be the most reliable because of simpler options and tech.
I think this would go up against the used Macan S and Turbo that are just coming off of leases. BTW, I do agree that this will be Porsche’s best seller as long as the options list is short otherwise the used Macan S and Turbo will be a better option.

Another fantastic review. Here in OZ the difference in price between the petrol 4 and 6 cylinders equally specced is about $12,000 to $16,000 depending on which state you live in. In my state of Victoria is $12,000 so I don't think they will sell many 4's ($91K base drive away, $99K similar to S spec). I like the black RPM dial though, you can actually read it compared to the crazy white on grey dial in the 6.
Hi Zach .... nice review as always. I think the 4 cyl will be perfect for 75% of the buyers out there....but here at altitude in Colorado I need the 6 cyl diesel ( only available in Europe right now ) or S engine for safety.... passing heavy slow trucks on mountain passes. We currently drive the Audi Q5 TDI 6 cyl .....which I really enjoy. cheers, BW
That's one thing for sure, Porsches handle measurably better than other SUVs, the Cayenne is really good and I assume this handles better than the Q5 also. The Cayenne and the F-Pace are probably the only two SUVs I have driven that actually handle more like cars than they do trucks, the opposite of plodding vehicles like Escalades.
Nice and thorough review, however it should be noted that the "Sport" setting for the PDK is standard on the Macan R4, the Sport Chrono Package adds the "Sport Plus" setting (and other bits), which arguably is not really useful with the 2.0 T engine. The car is sufficiently quick without the Sport Chrono. As to the need to option a start button, call me old school, but I've driven cars with and without and it is certainly not something I would consider a "must have". I recently bought a Macan R4 for my wife (trading in a Cayenne) and can tell you, this car is going to sell like crazy. I think Porsche's prediction that it will make up 40% of Macan sales is on the low side.
I'm quite sure you can put a stage one tune on them. You can do it with the Audi already and from what I've read it gives +35hp and +60tq when combined with a better free flow air intake. Not bad bang for your buck I think :)
@Daniel Nguyen, as with most luxury car brands, sad to say majority of these Porsche owners bought the car for prestige and nothing else. They probably would not appreciate 6 or 8 piston brakes, or if they are floating discs or not. But I don't blame them, because these high performance parts are not realized in their everyday bumper to bumper slow traffic driving. I have friends who bought 911 only because they are more expensive than the all mighty mid engine Boxster. Back in my younger days 20 years ago, I bought the Boxster for its tremendous handling in the curves and the exhilarating wail of the engine broadcasted right behind my head. Daniel, if you own a Porsche for the handling and performance, then a big kudos to you. I do not know your age, but my love for great handling cars started in the early 80's with my passion of watching Formula One auto racing (before all the electronic driving enhancements).
@Hassan 2k Whiteside, Macan is a good looking SUV and glad to hear you are enjoying the handling! I am in Vancouver and the dense traffic nowadays is really not conducive to pleasurable driving. Driving a Porsche at snail pace is a real sin, LOL. I wonder how many city Porsche owners push their vehicle hard enough in a turn to feel the texture of the road transmitted to the steering wheel and into their hands when the front wheels start to slide. Funny story years ago, my wife, who is not into sports cars at all, have been making excuses to drive down to Seattle in her BMW with sports suspension because in her words "the faster I drive, the better the car handles".
Hey Zach, I am thinking about purchasing or leasing the Macan but I live in the heart of Vancouver. Do you think the base Macan is a decent purchase? I love the design and the interior of this car but I am not sure how much gas it will consume in real-world driving in the CITY. Thanks, Simon.
recently purchased the macan 4 cylinder turbo, sight unseen (vroom.com) I was worried it wouldn't have enough guts/get up and go, but I love it, plenty of power, especially in sport mode, that's all I need, and it handles great, fantastic, truly a Porsche.
Would u recommended this or a Cayenne for someone that would use it to haul the family around and use it for a daily driver? Also is the Macan more fun to drive than the Cayenne?
The Macan is a bit small for a family car. The Cayenne is a better choice but pricey once nicely equipped. I recommend checking out the new 2018 Audi SQ5.
Great Macan 2.0 review Zack, thank you...I have 2 questions: 1. Did you find anything unusual with braking, the way they the brakes are modulated? 2. Do I understand correctly that you need Sport Chrono Package in order to get Sport button and improve shifting and responsiveness?
The brakes are evidently not as large on the 4-cylinder Macan as on the V6 Macans. The Sport Chrono package is needed to get the dial on the steering wheel, but you get a Sport button on the center console without it.
I *REALLY* wished they would put in the flat 4 from the 718 in there instead of the inline 4 from Audi. Anyways, if one has the money, I think this Porsche Ja(Macan) is a better CUV than the Stelvio.
They should have put the great S4 engine into as is with no further tuning required. It is used in the Cayenne/Panamera hybrids. It might be a more costly engine.
@Joseph Pae But it should be in the base model and tune the S for more hp. My S4 is a 475hp monster feeling more powerfull than the 991s I drive on weeekends.
Hey @Motormouth I am 6'2 and looking into a 2016 Macan. I dont care too much about backseat space but care a lot about driver seat comfort with my height and back problems. Would you say it is a big and confortable driver seat? Thank you, great review BTW
People are buying Porsches without a Porsche engine is because what other choice do they have? Most porsches use other manufacturers engines in their base cars, but if the buyer were given the choice to buy a Porsche with a Porsche engine or a different engine at same or similar price the Porsche would win out every time.
Keep in mind that Canada before switching to the metric system, used Imperial gallons which were closer to 4 litres per gallon, while the U.S gallon is closer to 3 3/4 litres. The Imperial is a larger gallon. It's better if you're able to do the conversion yourself to understand in U.S terms what the autonomy of the car is.
Why does it weigh about 600 lbs more than the Mazda CX-5 Signature which is very close in overall dimensions? Definitely not worth $26,000 extra when equipped like the Mazda.
DoubleD 613 dude all Porsche cars have a key to respect the heritage. Even the entry and drive have this key looking thing attached. And as far as the base Macan, it's the best value in the Porsche line up. It comes with so many standard things that are optional on the 911,718. Also you finally don't have to pay 80k so that basically you get a turbo badge in the back of your Macan. You don't need 400hp on a small crossover.
Most people that will buy this vehicle will add several options putting the price in the high fives. Every base Macan I've seen on dealer lots also has options. I think I saw one that did not have the panoramic roof. I ordered one with key-less drive, memory seats, panoramic roof, Bose, 14 way leather seats, NAV, lots of other goodies and after negotiating it was $56K USD.
It's unnecessary... I'd rather complain about it not having a nav system, xenon lights and a rear view camera (since it's a big-ish vehicle) or the performance exhaust :D that's kinda fun
The SQ5 will cost in the low 60s. The interior is gorgeous, it's fast, but the steering is numb. You need to pay for the air suspension to get a superior ride quality.
Get the INFINITI QX50 -drives just as well -with more HP and it's 30% less. Just imagine how you'll feel, when you beat the 4 cylinder Macan off the line with the QX50- 0-60 - 5.4 sec. Macan 4cyl turbo - 0-60 - 6.1 sec, with the optional Sport Chrono Package featuring launch control.
no sunroof, is inexcusable! At that price...Wonder how it drives compared to my GTI with a Neuspeed power module, and Eibach springs and sways, My 2.0T GTI SE engine is probably close to 250HP now with a Neuspeed module, and it's QUICK, big improvement over stock with performance pkg? No stick either on this, in Germany most of the Tiguans where STICK! Not even available here,
It has paddle shifters, which have become standard in top-end cars, replacing cars with stick-shifts and clutch pedals -- much nicer, really. And sunroofs are way over-rated; they can leak and break, they're hard to keep clean, and they can make a car much hotter in summer.
@@cbatiau2528 I've had 17+ VW audi NEVER ever had one break, what are you talking about, never had one leak, you know MAINTENANCE, keep the drains CLEAN, simple, they do not make it any hotter, they have a shade, and let light in....it opens up the entire inside, makes car feels much more comfortable, Panoramic ones are GREAT entire roof open ad bright
I want the 6 cyl...but no sunroof? Come on..that's as disappointing as the golf R with no glass roof..my GTI has it..why not these? Gonna have to go with RS4? Audi...cus cousin vw and cousin Porsche are maybe being stubborn?
You can pay $1700 if you want one, but I'm ordering one without and am glad that they come standard without sunroofs. I hate sunroofs. I have them in two of my cars because they came that way, but I almost never use them, and I always worry about them leaking and breaking (lots of examples of this happening across all car brands).
I agree a 4 cyl is adequate for every day use, but you know, 4 adults, full tank and a full cargo hold and I'm telling you, you'll be disappointed when the gas pedal hits the mat, particularly pulling grades. Not only that, push it, and keep it in the boost, and you're looking at V8 levels of gas consumption. You can get the same power levels out of a Hyundai Santa Fe for much less money. So, you're really paying for the badge.
You are getting the superior engineering. The PDK Gearbox, PSM traction control system, and the advance Porsche AWD. You are not simply paying for the badge.
I'm not sold, every manufacturer has stability, traction control among other electronic babysitters depending on trim level. I can imagine how the conversation's gonna go with the insurance company.."so, you wanna insure a porsche"....Not saying I wouldn't cross-shop if I were in the market, but for that money, I'd want at least a V6.
BAC0828 I agree you'll probably be disappointed by the power in that scenario. There is more to a car than just power and traction control though. Handling, steering feel, looks, etc. all factor in as well. It's not just the badge.
4 adults in a Macan is not a recipe for a good time, brand snob or not. It's a surprisingly small car and is a poor fit for regularly carrying more than 1-2 passengers.
Hahaah yea a Hyundai Santa Fe and Porsche in the same sentence. Enough said... but as far as the HP I had a 250hp Honda minivan. That thing still gave you a kick when pedal was on the floor. 250hp and more importantly 270 torque is more than enough for this small SUV.
52k for a vehicle with a GTI engine.... sorry there's not a lot of value. They should put a Porsche 4 cylinder engine in here with 300hp or at least the Golf R version of this engine.
@Ethan Pae nah, super fast and very pleasant but the car simply has no soul. And the go fast turbo s is stupidly expensive. Too many better vehicles at that price point
@Joseph Pae lol yeah i only test drove one. I saw motortrend. This was years ago. 2016. I bought amg and didnt regret it. Much better value for money and much more entertaining.
Porsche must be paying this guy some good money to promote a underpowered 4 cylinder vehicle that looks like a hatchback which was raised a couple of inches. For a proper SUV that drives phenomenally well and has some space I would try the Jaguar F Pace with a V6 engine with 340hp and a 5 year 50K warranty for the same money. You could buy a Audi SQ5 for almost the same price and get bang for your buck.
you want a 4 cylinder cause in other parts of the world anything over 2.0 is extreme luxury & you are punished 1) for earning way to much money so they tax you 100-200% depending o what country 2) anything over 2.0 you are damaging the environment so there is an environmental tax added & an annual license plate renewal fee 10-15x more than a regular car. So I Porsche wants to really go global and add sales they need a 2.0 or less
Except that Sensus sucks. And now the 2019 Macan has the far superior computer screen introduced last year into Panamera. This new Porsche computer system and the maps are light-years better than Volvos. When Volvo replaces Sensus with Google OS/Maps next year, that will be a huge improvement in those vehicles.
I am sure it does, but if car manufacturers think I am going to pay the same prices as a V6 or V8, they are crazy. Plus I am more inclined to buy a high horsepower car without turbos as they are very expensive to repair.
the trouble is Porsche vehicles are priced much higher than Merc Audi and BMW . a top performing macan base price is gbp70k and a gla45 is gbp45k. a base macan 4 cylinder is around gbp46k and is not a performance vehicle in any way. I'm inclined to agree that a 4 cylinder macan just isn't worth it. the v6 3.6 litre vehicle performs really well but starts at 70k which is ridiculous. the gla 45 performance is on par with the v6 macan.
Andy P Porsche has the highest mark up of any manufacturer. So, you are paying to some degree for the badge. 4 cyl turbo vs 6 cyl, well i imagine it cost the company the same to make, the turbo, intercooler etc im sure offsets the cheapness of 2 less pots. The fact that you have to buy an option so the car makes proper boost ( Sport Chrono) is BS. Options is where Dr Porsche gives you a rectal exam with no lube and doesnt take his ring off.
No matter what you would pay for 4T, you're not the only customer on Earth. Downsizing is now the global rule for every car's manufacturers in Europe. And they can because they know how to do it right, just look at the last RS3, RS Q3, GLA 45AMG etc. they are all stunning little engines, this works good (Japanese are also very good to achieve powerful 4 cylinders). In fact, V8 or V12, V10 and all that gas guzzlers are becoming just archaic. Europe ≠ North America, here we want a conciliation between automotive spirit and less crap emission, bad for environment, bad for us, bad for everything. People in North America are much more autistics about this, sad for them. You're too individualis, but it's normal, you're from the "empty mind" culture. Because it's a place made by whores & convicts on the Amerindian genocide. Here in Europe, we have a long History made by a savant dosage of progress, conservatism and deference about nature. And it's way better like that. Well, back to the point : a page of the automotive era is just turning, waiting for all-electric in the future. Not soon, nuclear still a big problem too... but some alternatives are in discuss. But keep smile, you can easily keep buying some of your N/A prehistoric cars 😄
Agree on the 4 cylinder. However I prefer Apple Play with Google navigation; just tell Siri where you want to go and it's mapped on the Porsche large display. Other car manufacturers require you to buy expensive Nav systems and continually bill you for upgrades before they will include Apple or Android Play with the car.
there's nothing porsche about this except for the badge, refinement and status. the engineering is the same across all VAG products, from the most expensive bentley to the cheapest Seat or Skoda. this product is just a market segment filler, nothing more. i'm surprised that after so many years the world hasn't learned that the germans aren't making cars anymore since 1990. that's the milestone where they learned to do business instead. And this is another example, a ton of marketing and parts from other models. We also get the macan diesel in Europe - imagine hitler rolling in his grave.
They have the Tiguan, they have the Q5 and they have the Macan. Of course Porsche and Audi are their premium brands but I don't see any big differences among the three compact SUVs. Besides I don't like the look of Q5, so yes I would do the same and pick the VW.
Honestly, that makes a Porsche quite affordable, just get the full leather interior. People don't know how much it's worth, the Porsche badge itself = expensive

Is this the same engine that’s in the Golf R as well?
Hi Zach .... nice review as always. I think the 4 cyl will be perfect for 75% of the buyers out there....but here at altitude in Colorado I need the 6 cyl diesel ( only available in Europe right now ) or S engine for safety.... passing heavy slow trucks on mountain passes. We currently drive the Audi Q5 TDI 6 cyl .....which I really enjoy. cheers, BW
If you want to save gas this is the way also you still drive a Porsche fun!
Aladdin's flying carpet on 22" spinners would handle better than an Escalade, would do so with even more swag
Great review.
Thinking about Macan S to supersede my Q5 in a couple of years.
did you end up doing it?
@@VainCape I decided to upgrade my Audi TT to TTS instead
Zack, you've reviewed both the Macan 4cyl and new X1, all things being equal, which would you buy?
I also wonder about the Panamera's glass button console and about it reflecting light.
I does some, when the sun hits it just right, and that is annoying. The chrome trim around the console and dash is also bad that way.
Hopefully you can chip it like the Audi/VW models and get enough power so you don't need the V6
What I've been wondering, exactly.I think you should be able to chip it though,it's an Audi powerplant afterall
I'm quite sure you can put a stage one tune on them. You can do it with the Audi already and from what I've read it gives +35hp and +60tq when combined with a better free flow air intake. Not bad bang for your buck I think :)
I only have one thing to say: If you can't afford a Porsche and have never, ever driven one, then do not knock it!!! Lol 🤣
Daniel Nguyen I agreed.
Great review!
What does that button that says "nav" do?
this car vs 2017 C300 4matic fully loaded, which car would you guys buy? Thanks
good question
Base Macan or base 530i? what I should buy?
I'd never buy a base model luxury car. I'd rather have a less expensive car (C class, 3 series, etc) that's mid spec or stretched to the upper spec.
Hey Zach,
I am thinking about purchasing or leasing the Macan but I live in the heart of Vancouver.
Do you think the base Macan is a decent purchase?
I love the design and the interior of this car but I am not sure how much gas it will consume in real-world driving in the CITY.
Thanks,
Simon.
recently purchased the macan 4 cylinder turbo, sight unseen (vroom.com) I was worried it wouldn't have enough guts/get up and go, but I love it, plenty of power, especially in sport mode, that's all I need, and it handles great, fantastic, truly a Porsche.
Scott Pitts plus 30+ mpg when you turn of the ac
Well presented!
What about air suspension and PASM? What's my tab if I include sunroof n PASM?
youll be pushing macan gts territory in terms of pricing
Would u recommended this or a Cayenne for someone that would use it to haul the family around and use it for a daily driver? Also is the Macan more fun to drive than the Cayenne?
+Drumming Ace I prefer the Cayenne
Motormouth Canada ok thank you for your opinion
Motormouth Canada
The Macan is a bit small for a family car. The Cayenne is a better choice but pricey once nicely equipped.
I recommend checking out the new 2018 Audi SQ5.
macan is small but sportier fun drive.
Very impressive vehicle.
is it an awd?
Great Macan 2.0 review Zack, thank you...I have 2 questions: 1. Did you find anything unusual with braking, the way they the brakes are modulated? 2. Do I understand correctly that you need Sport Chrono Package in order to get Sport button and improve shifting and responsiveness?
The brakes are evidently not as large on the 4-cylinder Macan as on the V6 Macans. The Sport Chrono package is needed to get the dial on the steering wheel, but you get a Sport button on the center console without it.
Is this also missing HID Headlights?
I *REALLY* wished they would put in the flat 4 from the 718 in there instead of the inline 4 from Audi. Anyways, if one has the money, I think this Porsche Ja(Macan) is a better CUV than the Stelvio.
They should have put the great S4 engine into as is with no further tuning required. It is used in the Cayenne/Panamera hybrids. It might be a more costly engine.
@Joseph Pae But it should be in the base model and tune the S for more hp. My S4 is a 475hp monster feeling more powerfull than the 991s I drive on weeekends.
I really like it and I am not a SUV fan.
Hey @Motormouth I am 6'2 and looking into a 2016 Macan. I dont care too much about backseat space but care a lot about driver seat comfort with my height and back problems. Would you say it is a big and confortable driver seat? Thank you, great review BTW
I think you should be fine but I always encourage you to go and try one out for yourself. Everybody's different
So what are you paying $50000 for ? No sunroof , no nav, no key less entry or was it push button start? So essentially the engine costs $50000.Please
you are paying 50k for the badge.
that sounds even worse when you put it like that
Damn you !! why do you have to pull us all down to reality !! ahhh, most of us want to leave in lala land you know...
Manny Echaluce Sorry man
mark williams you made me realize my HONDA CRV is worth more for what I pay for it :D its all good, all 85 horspower good
People are buying Porsches without a Porsche engine is because what other choice do they have? Most porsches use other manufacturers engines in their base cars, but if the buyer were given the choice to buy a Porsche with a Porsche engine or a different engine at same or similar price the Porsche would win out every time.
I'll buy used , 50k is really expensive for 4 banger
You should always buy a Porsche used...depreciation is a beautiful thang!
Costs like from 70K now
Very impressive.,
How does motormouth make money?
Great review...as always! During the MPG segments could you please equate to gallons per mile? Just easier for your american subscribers!
Test drive one..
You'll see...
Porsche's built bullet proof and for High SPEED!
No sunroof? No start button on a $55,000 car? Wtf that's terrible
Stealth333 no such thing as standard with Porsche. That's why this is a good value.
Most people that will buy this vehicle will add several options putting the price in the high fives. Every base Macan I've seen on dealer lots also has options. I think I saw one that did not have the panoramic roof. I ordered one with key-less drive, memory seats, panoramic roof, Bose, 14 way leather seats, NAV, lots of other goodies and after negotiating it was $56K USD.
this car cost almost $200 000 here. Basic model.
It's unnecessary...
I'd rather complain about it not having a nav system, xenon lights and a rear view camera (since it's a big-ish vehicle) or the performance exhaust :D that's kinda fun
With 4 passengers and their luggage I wonder how it will do on hilly terrain?
not many people will probably load a Macan completely full with 4 people and luggage... people doing that a lot would look at another vehicle...
Wheel gap is insane in this configuration tho
The Audi SQ5 might be much better value....? Right? Plus you would get a six cylinder rocket.
Ryan people buy this because of the badge
The SQ5 will cost in the low 60s. The interior is gorgeous, it's fast, but the steering is numb. You need to pay for the air suspension to get a superior ride quality.
great car......
Your already spending 50k plus might as well get the V6.
hopefully gonna sell one tonight …
I test drove it the other day and when I attempted to change lane, there was a lag. I was disappointed but can't afford the S.
Grand Cherokee SRT any thing of this little guy.
$50+ grand for a badge. No frills or thrills. Option it up and it would get into $60 grand territory.
Rip-off!
Max Troy not sure when is the last time you walked into a Porsche dealer but $50k Porsche can reach $100k with all the options.
Better option?
def never driven a porsche bro 😂
you have the same car my uncle has a different tire
I just want an almost affordable, porsche daily driver. Sounds like a crime. eeeeek
So it’s a q5 Witt a porsche logo.
Thanks. That is my next car. Just gotta save up a little
I think 252hp are totally enough for this car! It's cheaper, quick enough and with some good options a very luxurious car
no sunroof, is inexcusable!
@Joseph Pae it opens up the space..panoramic is best...no problems...the roads suck here in the u.s. thats a problem
@Joseph Pae I had moonrise also..great stuff..no problems
@Joseph Pae no stick is the real problem
My 2019 golf r is 288 hp..new mk 8 is 315...porsche better up the anti
Better be good, look at da prices 😜
I seriously looked at the macan and skipped it in the end unfortunately .
Why do Porsche have to make the steering wheel the same color as the seats? Yuck. It's just too much taupe. Or tan. Make it black.
I'd rather pay a bit more for a fully equipped XC90 whose interior doesn't look it's from 2007.
I would never pay big dollars for a 4 cylinder car. They are putting in a cheaper engine without a cheap price.
femaledeer amg 45 is 4 cylinder and rocks big time
I am sure it does, but if car manufacturers think I am going to pay the same prices as a V6 or V8, they are crazy.
I wouldn't pay for any car over $40k with 4 cylinder and no navigation
Agree on the 4 cylinder. However I prefer Apple Play with Google navigation; just tell Siri where you want to go and it's mapped on the Porsche large display. Other car manufacturers require you to buy expensive Nav systems and continually bill you for upgrades before they will include Apple or Android Play with the car.
50k base price and no proxy key? PASS
My father bought this for $200000++
I would rather get a Jaguar F-Pace at this price
yes, but than you have to drop quality ... up to you.
And it will be in the shop all of the time...
You want a Porsche for the driving dynamics and the power. This car is for posers.
Leonard Read I couldn't agree more. I'm a Porsche fan but this vehicle is lame AF
Drive one
there's nothing porsche about this except for the badge, refinement and status. the engineering is the same across all VAG products, from the most expensive bentley to the cheapest Seat or Skoda. this product is just a market segment filler, nothing more. i'm surprised that after so many years the world hasn't learned that the germans aren't making cars anymore since 1990. that's the milestone where they learned to do business instead. And this is another example, a ton of marketing and parts from other models. We also get the macan diesel in Europe - imagine hitler rolling in his grave.
Too bad Audi and VW have a carbon built up direct injection gasoline engine
You lost me at 4 cyl.
Alot of newer vehicles are 4 cylinder look it up u will be surprised, but their still fast!!!
Not worth it. I could get a decent Alfa Romeo Stelvio for less than 50 grand
U got ur alfa yet lol just playing....
zhang jerry no I did and I feel like a bad bitch
I'm trying to decide on the two right lol both are beautiful, fast and reasonably priced SUVs😳😬
Miss Kay I honestly would say if you are looking at Porsche to try the Romeo... it’s pretty nice
@@TD-il6ju its ok to be honest lmao!
yeah, but it's a Porsche...
(I prefer the buttons too - not a fan of touch buttons because of the finger marks)
I would buy a real VW and save some bucks instead.
They have the Tiguan, they have the Q5 and they have the Macan. Of course Porsche and Audi are their premium brands but I don't see any big differences among the three compact SUVs. Besides I don't like the look of Q5, so yes I would do the same and pick the VW.
Overpriced
That's why I don't buy Apple and use Windows/Andriod ;)
@@aceboy897 You cant set Apple and Porsche as consideration. Porsche is gold Apple is rotten

azalru dx
So it's a overpriced q5.
Yes it is. And worth it.
The only reason I don't get a Porche is because it's not android compatible.
Interior looks dry and basic.
Honestly, that makes a Porsche quite affordable, just get the full leather interior. People don't know how much it's worth, the Porsche badge itself = expensive
