Literally had tears listening to it! How rich complex music knowledge we Indians have, especially Ilayaraja is the boss of Indian music industry no one can come closer to his compositions . What a legend!
What a treasure did I just land on! Salutations to swamigal Ilaiyaraaja, the emperor and boss of bass lines. Grateful to Prasanna for doing this video. Thank you sir
Great analysis. Now we can imagine how Raja Sir had composed the score. His brain has to be insured like Einstein. Truly a wizard and emperor of music who has touched all forms of music from folk to Symphony. Proud that we are living in midst of him. Salute your genius.

I don't know how I landed up here but it is a real treasure!! I still could not wrap my mind around the fact that how the idea of coming up with all these individual notes for separate instruments and combining together to give us legendary songs like this came to this person - Isaignani Ilayaraja. Another beautiful thing in this video is that though musicians in this video are from different language, culture, country etc. but they could easily communicate with each other in one language called music.......
Thank you! This was special! I have always wanted to learn this song since i was 17. This gives us hope to get within 100 kms of your precision playing. Much appreciation. IR is in the zone of greats like Beethoven & Bach. A rare diamond from Tamil Nadu.
This is amazing guys! Huge Thanks and appreciation to Prasanna and team in breaking down and explaining the technicalities and intricateness in IR's compositions . As you say, the bass lines are complex and filled with counterpoints which are hallmarks of IR's scores. This session itself has taken 30 mins approx.. Imagine writing the full scores for all the instruments and record it with full orchestra and singers in under an hour. IR is beyond genius 🙏

The first guitar interlude, is identical to Django Reinhardt's (1910-1953) gypsy jazz A minor scale run, transposed to the scale of ilayanila (most likely C Minor). Nevertheless, the intellectual dissection of the guitar part is appreciated. Thank you, Prasanna.
Myself heard that referred composition..it has nothing to do with ilaya nila except the same scale i.e similar to ragam. But chords are not same as mentioned...please give correct information. Thanks and regards
And to realise this was composed in 1982, almost 40 years back. We are blessed to be living at the same time as Illayaraja.
