- Last month I had the honor of making a guest appearance on my teacher Guitar Prasanna's concert in Terazza 7 in New York Queens. This is a special moment since this is the first time I am ever playing with him live in-person (since we always meet on Zoom meeting) and also this is the first time I am playing on a show with a live band. What is even more crazy is none of us rehearsed for this and the concert was a live improv for everybody while on stage. That's a pretty awesome experience for my first live concert in the US! I had a lot of fun and created many fond memories. Thank you so much Guitar Prasanna for inviting me and also thank you to the amazing band Shalini (Vocals), Panagiotis Andreou (Bass), Manu Koch (Piano/keyboards) and Engyn Gunaydin (Drums). It was an honor playing live music with these incredibly talented musicians! Also a special thanks to Terazza 7 and the owner Freddy, who is so awesome and it was so great meeting him.

Maya, you are truly a gifted child. At a young age you play at par with Mr. Prasanna. Amazing and God Bless you. If u come for any Concert in Atlanta, post a video, I will sure come n enjoy your concert.
I have repeatedly watched your rendition at AGT. It gives me the chills. Amazing performance. I am 71. I did have a guitar during my teens. Did try to teach myself 🙃 😄😂
Maya I am 62yrs since my childhood I love music but due to financial problems because I am from a very poor family I couldn't afford to learn, though I love guitar it was my first preference so no chance but after I was married and had 5children I started pushing my interest on them so two of my daughters are trained Indian classical music both of them are graduate, but no one play guitar so my youngest son started showing his interest in guitar so I sent him fo classes but unfortunately only for one year he stop, today after watching your you tube I feel that if I got a good teacher interested to teach an old lady of my age I'll find one and I'll start seriously.😂God bless you dear Keep it upand All the best for your future 🙏🙏🙏
Go for it....I'm 66 and I started learning blues acoustic guitar at 63..I love it and it's great fun!...Give it a go!

Bravo, Maya! You played like a total pro, and that was your first time playing live with a band, and improvising too. Amazing. That was great!

Maya you have a creditable performance in your kitty. Keep going... ❤🎉🙌🙌🙌
Thank you! 😊
Incredible indeed
Thank you! 😊
There might be no other folk (classical) music that brings along this amount of improv. It very much appears that you are familiar with the tunes and the actual instruments (sitar? or even rudra veena?). The dress could have been a precursor, but that night was not about riffing;-) Wonderful display.
Thank you so much! I agree, I love that we can improv so much in Carnatic music. No, I don’t play veena or sitar. Only guitar at the moment. 😊
@Maya. Have you heard the late, great Shawn Lane on guitar with Jonas Hellborg, Selva Ganesh andUma Mahesh? If not, please do. Also Mathias Eklundh. With Prasanna as your guru, I look forward to you inventing a whole new genré. Carnatic Metal Rock. With Gamakas and all.
May you go on to do brilliant things. May you forge the way with new musical ideas.
Much love dear.
Hello again Maya! Love this so much as it really shows the range of your talents! Just wondering though, as a fellow alt fan, what music are you into the most - other than Tool of course ❤😁👍 Love from the Uk xx
Thank you so much!! 😊 Right now, other than TOOL it’s definitely Carnatic music for me. I enjoy playing and exploring the improvs in Carnatic music more than listening to songs. This way I can feel the music. Other than that, my next joy definitely comes from playing Thrash metal music. Heavy ones like Exodus, Testament, Slayer etc. It’s always fun. Now I’m beginning to listen to other fusion albums that Alex Skolnick gave me when I met him last month and I’m really enjoying that too. 😃
That's sooo cool, I so identify with that! I love thrash too, am seeing Mr Bungle in the next couple of weeks over here. Obviously Mike Patton is the main guy, but Dave Lombardo & Ian Scott are amazing musicians as well!! Don't know if you've heard of them but I'm seeing Empire State B**tard again soon & I'd definitely recommend, again it's Lombardo of Slayer but with a couple of the guys from Biffy Clyro. Really hope that you're doing great anyways, much love ❤️x
@@MayaNeelakantanwonderful, very tough to play those notes, so crisply… God bless
Oh Maya Gosh😮... ma super talented baabu pickachu is the best🤗🐇

@@MayaNeelakantan you rock bro👍🏽

Thank you! 😊
In Sanskrit, Māyā means "illusion or magic". Did we see an illusion, magical illusion or magic?
She is so mature for a ten year old :::
S she Indian origin?
I was born and live in India. 😊
@@MayaNeelakantan your performance feels like I am seeing Saraswathy devi playing
She's changed those electric guitar into Indian sitar... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Veena and not sitar. Sukumar Prasad had done it decades back.
So rude of ppl to talk loudly in the background
