I don’t have a cable cutter yet, just pliers. What’s a good way i can lube and clean my dual-pivot rear brake cable and housing? Can i just open the pinch bolt to loosen the cable and move the housing. Great channel i just found btw. Lots of very useful stuff. Subscribed.
You're welcome! I'm glad the tutorial was helpful for you.🙂 If you ever have more bike-related questions or need assistance with anything else, feel free to ask. Happy riding with your newly changed brake cable! 🚴♂️😊
I am trying to get brakes working on my son's bicycle. I need a new "barrel adjuster" I think. This one does not seem to have threads to screw into the handle assembly like the one in your video. His bike's looks like a square hole where the barrel adjuster would seat. Where can I find the correct style that I need? Thank you for this well put together video.
Hi Josh, thanks for your comment and the question. Yes, these types of barrel adjusters have two flat sides and they slide in the brake lever body rather then screw in. The best shot would be to visit your local bike shop. They should have a replacement part. I hope this helps and good luck with repairing your kid's brakes. Let us know how you got on.
The end on the MTB brake cable I got is smaller than the original one on my bike, so it doesn't fill all the space in the hole in the lever. Is this normal? I'm not sure it's safe to use a cable with a smaller end...
Hi, thanks for your question. Apologies but I'm unable to give you the right answer without seeing the bike. We do have a vgreat ideo explaining different types of brake cables here: th-cam.com/video/zvD2F3JwQc4/w-d-xo.html . You can check if you have the correct cable fitted. Let me know if this was helpful.
Hey, thanks for your comment. Unfortunately I don't speak Spanish, and Google Translate did not provide a clear translation of your sentence: "How to remove the ball from the back so that it enters through the hose?" Would you be able to explain your problem in english or put more details in spanish so that the translation will be more clear?
