This has just reminded me of the time in 1986 when I cut open a baked beans can, wrapped it around my Mk2 Escort's mid section, slabbered it in gumgum and tightened it up with 4 large jubilee clips. It passed an MOT and a trade-in inspection with flying colours. Zero shame and zero f***s given. I'm also hoping that The Citroen Whisperer up in Scotland can fit my shiny new undertray (that's been in my garage for 6 or 7 years) in the month ahead. Lastly, I feel your DPF pain but do let me know where you saw the cheap replacements. Lastly x2....glad you're no longer selling it.
C6 stuff is age related as you’ve mentioned, the timing sucks but I hope you’ve not lost hope in it as it’s a lovely car. Hope you have a nice time in France at least!
Glad you’ve still got the C6. Sometimes we hold onto cars not necessarily for practical reasons. I’m currently running my old car (my first car) and my new car because I can’t let go of the old one.
Make sure you check the Eolys fluid level. It is only calculated, not level sensor. It can run out before it warns you and cause DPF blocking. DPF's for PSA cars are cheap because the catalytic converters (the really expensive stuff) is separated from the DPF.
I feel your pain Kitch - something always seems to go wrong with one member of the fleet just as I start working on the 'less broke' member of the fleet. Coincidentally, the two german members of the fleet started having horribly electric issues soon after install a decal from Mr. Hub's store. Hmmmmm
In 2005 when I bought my C8, the salesman sidetracked me onto one of these. I was blown away by it, it's interior, exterior, the engine. Beautiful ! He said tat I could be the first customer in that branch to buy one. I was very very tempted but didn't. Watching your videos I'm so glad I didn't but at the same time I still want one!
You dont actually need a new DPF! You can get yours cleaned (Burned) out so its almost like new. My DAD had it done on his at 240k KM and it's still got at almost 340k KM. So I'd recommend looking into this...
Cleaned my DPF with 3x dishwasher tablets with hot water, then used a toilet cleaner with 30% phosphoric acid in, come up like new! Left the the clener in with hot water over night. Blocked DPF caused breather pipe to split. Oh also there is a reasonably cheap DPF place in Waterlooville "European Exhaust and Catalyst"
Hello, french C6 owner here. Thanks a lot for your videos which are going to be quite helpful to go through C6 adventures. I think you can do a force decloging of the DFP using the Lexia. Don't really know if it can help you now but in juste in case ( the option is called regeneration forcée du FAP). Cheers !
Dpf filters blocking is normally a sign of something else is wrong. Having a exhaust leak before the filter will give incorrect pressure readings for the dpf sensor ie low pressure at the sensor. This will lead to a miss calculation of soot loading at the ecu. And no self regen. Fixing the exhaust leak means the ecu can now see correct filter pressure ie high. After market dpf filters are pants. Run cleaner or 2 through it and see if the pressure comes down.
I blew the rear box apart at the seams on my Xantia a few years back. Hilariously didn't notice despite it being in 2 halves and put it in for the MOT. When I took it off it was datestamped 94, the same year the car was made. Nobody would believe it was the original as there was no paperwork to suggest and I doubt anyone kept a backbox on the shelf for that long!
There's a new silicon carbide DPF on Autodoc for 350 quid. Definitely not something you'd buy for fun, but I guess it might be worth trying as the original part is probably over 1000 pounds (it's either €1200 or €1460 where I live)
Ahhh the DPF... I've had that clogging issue with a cracked manifold on an i-CTDi Civic. It's vicious because the leak causes lessened flow through the filter and since it doesn't heat up as much, it clogs itself more, which aggravates whatever leak is present upstream of the DPF. I appreciate antipollution equipment (DPF/SCR) for the work they do but god damn do they spell migraines once they start behaving. I wonder if, now that you've patched up the leak, if running it calmly at highway speeds for like over hour would heat the filter up enough that it could regenerate on its own. Or if you could run a forced regen through some software gizmo. Look on the flip side though: you won't need to take the engine out to replace the filter on this car! Already a huge win compared to some other cars (cough cough civic 8)
The comment from @khalidacosta7133 is spot on. I used to have a c5 (same 2.7 engine) and had the same problem and dash warning. I ran it on dpf cleaner and that got me out of trouble until the Eolys was refilled.
I was all set to chip in with a time honoured Panto "Oh no it isn't - Oh yes it is" quip but .... well it all makes sense now. Knowing what the problem is might not magically fix it but I do find things easier to deal with then, it's an age thing, both me and the C6. On a more positive note, rejoice in the fact that you are married to a very sensible and logical person.

Don't change the dpf, clean all the cats, not only the dpf, you should use a good product to clean it, there are some good ones that don't even require to take the parts off if you have access to the cat/dpf through p.e.a temperature sensor. You don't even need to force the regen with diagbox
I’d absolutely watch if you did a forced recharge of the dpf (not sure if that happens with PSA and the additive system) and/or a DPF cleaner by Liqui Moly or others. You see so many reviews on Amazon but have never seen a pro do it. Is that…. Did I see an SM? 😉🤪
Question Mr UPD. What temperature will the orange sealant handle? I need to do a short term exhaust job for my MOT about 0.5m after the maniverter and flexi. 😢
