I think Clement could be a character in a children's TV show like Brum. Seems to have that character about him. I love how you just get on with the C6, seeing you working on these cars is motivating me to crack on with my BX
The C6 isn't *too* difficult, to be honest. Lots of modern(ish) cars are like this. CANBUS was used way back in the late 90s, for example. The engine/gearbox are the two that I get nervy about, plus anything behind the dashboard. The rest is pretty straightforward. BXs are much easier, though!
Thanks for the C6 update, Richard. Glad to see some tlc in the tyre dept too. Having changed a couple of ABS sensors recently, I can testify that they are indeed an absolute jigger to remove. That dose of good fortune hopefully made up for some of the week of pain to which you referred.
Lane keeping, just shows how advanced Citroën use to be, its a shame they've been sold down the river now. Vaxhall, Peugeot Citroën etc all the same cars underneath.
Citroens and Peugeots have been the same under the skin for decades; The C6 is a 407 underneath. Vauxhall have just been thrown into the mix as another brand, but I agree Citroen don't seem to stand for anything anymore. The golden days are firmly in the past.
We were told that C6 needs regular direction checkups, because of the heavy engine. Ours was also using the tyres unevenly before the direction adjustments.
Mmmm, not sure about that. Plenty of cars have heavy engines these days. I suspect the bigger issue is the fact the car travels at differing ride heights, so you probably need to get it 'spot on' as opposed to just 'in the green zone' as most tracking companies do.
God, I love the C6. Not just because it's gorgeous and desirable, but many of the faults it has are similar to my current C5 X7 Tourer (yes, I know, everyone hates the X7, looks like an Audi, bla bla bla). That front brake rattle happened on my previous C5. Bloomin' thing wouldn't STFU. No mechanic was either able or willing to fix it and it drove me nuts
@@UPnDOWN thank goodness for that. It makes me feel less bad for not having a C6. It's been my aspirational car ever since it came out. I'd kill for a 3.0HDI.
The specs of those tyres are pretty good for that money, I wish I could get a pair of tyres for my motorbikes for that, not fair. Good work, thank you.
Great little tinkering video Mate, had to laugh at Clement taking a while to rise and then deciding he did not want to move! Wonder if Hubnut wants to test the theory if you can drive a C6 on 3 wheels
I saw a thing the other day that made me think of Clement. Use the cigarette lighter to jump the relay contacts for the starter, instead of having a started button. Thought it could work quite well
Too right, that never happens! I remember getting a s/h hub carrier for my Relay van. New hub had the sensor wire cut. No way was that thing coming out. Ended up leaving it in and splicing the wire to the original! Lucky the sensor was working ok!
Another fab video what is the software on the laptop. Is it Delphi or Citroen own was looking to buy a Delphi or a used 2015 launch X 431 diagun changed the timing belt kit thermostat housing water pump fanbelt and a second hand suspension pump on my own last week as the axcess was easy to them all while doing the timing belt thanks anyway

Very interesting and informative as usual. But as an 2 x AX, BX and XM owner who had no real trouble with these 4 vehicles over 30 years+, my idea of buying a C6 when I retire soon has been abandoned. I have a reasonable sized garage to do work, but not a workshop. I worry for the future of these fine vehicles.
It's all relative. The C6 is as complex for its time as the XM was for its time. And, to be fair the kind of issues with ABS sensors and needing software to log in is no different on any other modern(ish) car. I would say the C6 is less complex than its contemporaries than the XM and BX were, if I'm honest. As for the future of them, they only sold 23,000 (compared with 300,000-odd XMs) so they're going to be more sought-after, more quickly, especially as they're the last big hydro-Citroen.
Good stuff as ever, really enjoying this series (it's also cemented that I MUST have a C6). Only one slight quibble - don't grease hubs and wheel bolts, I know it's a pain when they get stuck, but a greased joint face is significantly weakened, and the wheel bolts are significantly over-torqued (not that it really matters for them) even at the book tightening value.
Have to be honest, I've always done it and never had an issue. It's common practice, you just have to use common sense when tightening things up. Mind you, I definitely put too much on the disc on this, hand held high!
Did you say you had a knock on the suspension? She worked her way quite a few lower hub carrier bushes before we found that the P bush the stabilises the whole lot had play in it. Had previously been replaced with C5 items which look the same but aren't. knock happens on acceleration from stationary or when braking for junction
Ah¸ good old PP2000/Lexia/Diagbox! Essential for PSA cars. I'm thinking about getting a CLIP or similar for my Renault Master II next. Edit: You know you can change the language to English don't you?
You can normally, yes. But you can't when it glitches out, although - as things stand - it's back in English! Don't know why or how, but I'm not complaining.
@@UPnDOWN Yeah lucky escape there. Any Auto gearbox stuff is a very different can of worms. I have an auto job coming up where it doesnt go into any gear and says all speed sensors are broken. (was left to drain the battery to). Is an opel so maybe itäs just a bad ground.

My theory is that one day the SM, C6, Clement and BX will all be in the same shot, but at a semi-derelict French race track/Blackpool tower I'd be more than happy to offer my services as a pilot for one of them... assuming I'm still alive.
Oh, that's what dreams are made of. I'll do a charity run one day when they're all on the road, like Chris Evans in his white Ferraris and get channel members to bid to drive them down there.
In the 20-odd years I've used 'em, I've never ended up in a ditch. In fact the only time I did (21 years ago) I had Fulda or Falkens on, but like most crashes, it was driver error, not the tyres!
Mate take my hat off to you. WHY all 4 wheel's to drive a speedo? I just don't understand. 🤪 love the car but don't know if I would cope as well as you. Actually I know I wouldn't. 🇦🇺
Most cars since 2000 do that, to be honest. The ESP needs to know the rotation speed of all the wheels to detect whether it's sliding or not. Just makes sense to use that same input for the speedo output.
Didnt Ian also complain about it being a little "too much like a rocking chair", and people in the comments mentioned that it needs the spheres regassed
He did. Many of the comments he got were just 'armchair experts', but I do think there's some traction in the gas pressures in the spheres, so I'm going to look into it.
I had a 2008 C5 2 litre diesel automatic with the pneumatic suspension and it was a nightmare of unreliability and huge repair cost. After 9 years and 100,000 miles the stearing rack died. I scrapped the car (£2,000) for a KIA. Do not buy French!
You've come onto a channel predominantly featuring Citroens of varying complexity to tell me not to buy a French car?! If you have an issue with a hydro-Citroen, and you take it to a regular untrained garage, you will have a bad time.
