Couldn't help but take a "Google Maps" walk up the High St., from the site of West's. Reminded me of how much I wanted a "fizzie" when I was 16yo. Mum said No! & that was that.. but she was a great driving instructor.. it's been 4 wheels since I was 17. That "new car smell" seems to envelop most things mechanical.. but that may be just me.
@@lightanddreamsphotography7140 Wonderful! Fiskerton airfield was also my introduction to 4-wheelery, with dad supervising the months leading up to my 17th birthday. Sadly, he expected me then to be perfect in traffic, which took "a while". Conversely, mum just sat quietly & let me practice the craft.. of satisfying an examiner.
Great stuff !!
Thank-you, most appreciated :)
Absolutely fascinating, I didn't realise West's had been in so many different places - Thank you
Thanks, I also had no idea until I realised how many old photos I had of them!
spent the first ten years of my life down gaunt street just down from wests motorcycle workshop, how things change!
Thanks for sharing that memory :)

I somehow avoided having a moped phase and went straight to cars as soon as I could after lessons from my Dad on Fiskerton airfield :)
