We now have a situation where free speech is allowed if you are supporting progressive causes but not if you are supporting conservative causes. I’m a victim of a high profile serial rpst. He went on the run for 2yrs (until he was caught in Spain in May). I panicked and reached out to his friends and family to ask if they knew where he might be. I was so scared. I never sent anything to them which was malicious (as was confirmed by the police), but I was subsequently arrested and charged with stalking! I now know there was no evidence against me or anything shown to the police, it was simply their words and alleged distress. When I first appeared at court, his sisters and dad were sat there like they were at a theatre show, knees up against the chairs in front. The court staff said it was odd that they were there as people generally don’t go to a first appearance. I was so frightened, that court staff ushered me out of the back door. The case against me was dropped 10mins after close of business the day before the trial, due to the intervention of a human rights lawyer, an MSP, Scottish women’s rights centre, and also an email from me to the fiscal explaining the context: A rpsts family and friends trying to revictimise his victim. I was processed in 4 months, however my attacker was to be on bail for 28months before the trial, although he faked his death and fled the country after 19 MONTHS ON BAIL. I’m now working with a team of solicitors and academics to bring a complaint against the police for their handling of the matter. No common sense was applied to this issue. There was no question of, are these complaints retaliatory against a victim of their family member. A scathing report was fired off to the COPFS and I was to be charged. Can you imagine the embarrassment and public outcry for them if I was forced to explain, in court, the nature of my reason for contacting these people - WHILE my attacker had not stood trial, and was on the run because his bail “conditions” didn’t see him as a flight risk so no restrictions were placed on his passport. Sorry it’s a long one, but yes, the law regarding electronic communication is a farce. I’ve read section 127 of the communications act (scotland) and the “victim” doesn’t have to prove any sort of distress. They simply need to state that they’re offended.

I have read the words of Britons claiming they have freedom of speech. What say you? Is freedom of speech more than a concept? Is it codified into your laws? It seems it is codified out of existence. We now have a situation where free speech is allowed if you are supporting progressive causes but not if you are supporting conservative causes. Both of our main political parties are left wing by US standards and we have police forces which have been infiltrated by these progressive causes, affecting their senior officers who aspire to be politicians.
Certainly if you're white, born here and have a family history going back a couple of generations. Oh and worked hard and paid your taxes, hold Christian values, believe in law, are in no way racist, support those less fortunate than yourself.......

I’m a victim of a high profile serial rpst. He went on the run for 2yrs (until he was caught in Spain in May). I panicked and reached out to his friends and family to ask if they knew where he might be. I was so scared. I never sent anything to them which was malicious (as was confirmed by the police), but I was subsequently arrested and charged with stalking!
I now know there was no evidence against me or anything shown to the police, it was simply their words and alleged distress.
When I first appeared at court, his sisters and dad were sat there like they were at a theatre show, knees up against the chairs in front.
The court staff said it was odd that they were there as people generally don’t go to a first appearance. I was so frightened, that court staff ushered me out of the back door.
The case against me was dropped 10mins after close of business the day before the trial, due to the intervention of a human rights lawyer, an MSP, Scottish women’s rights centre, and also an email from me to the fiscal explaining the context: A rpsts family and friends trying to revictimise his victim.
I was processed in 4 months, however my attacker was to be on bail for 28months before the trial, although he faked his death and fled the country after 19 MONTHS ON BAIL.
I’m now working with a team of solicitors and academics to bring a complaint against the police for their handling of the matter. No common sense was applied to this issue. There was no question of, are these complaints retaliatory against a victim of their family member. A scathing report was fired off to the COPFS and I was to be charged.
Can you imagine the embarrassment and public outcry for them if I was forced to explain, in court, the nature of my reason for contacting these people - WHILE my attacker had not stood trial, and was on the run because his bail “conditions” didn’t see him as a flight risk so no restrictions were placed on his passport.
Sorry it’s a long one, but yes, the law regarding electronic communication is a farce. I’ve read section 127 of the communications act (scotland) and the “victim” doesn’t have to prove any sort of distress.

Essex police turned up at the lady's house unannounced. They spoke and warned her about a tweet. They didn't disclose to the lady what was in the tweet or who the victim was!. How on earth was this lady expected to be able to defend herself?. Also it was and has been labelled as a non-hate crime, so why did the police feel that it was necessary to visit, talk to and warn the lady?. I can only imagine how afraid, nervous and uncomfortable she must of felt when the two police officers turned up at her home. These really are strange and frightening times that we live in. 😢
