The idea for the title of this song came from when they would watch TV and when it talked about the weather in the USA it seemed like they would always say "the sun is shining". Because in Norway, where they are from, and in England where they moved to to pursue their music career, it was often cloudy and rainy. The song, Hunting HIgh and Low, is about Paul, the one playing the guitar, while in England fell in love with an American girl (Lauren) who was in England studying in college. Her study visa ended and she had to return to America. That song was his desperate plea for England to let her stay. The two eventually got married, and to this day they are still together. The couple created another band called Savoy, which they named after her last name.
This is great too! I already pinned your other comment, but I like this one also! I think I might pin this one instead, as you mentioned origin of the title. You're awesome, thank you!😎👍🏻
The song is from their first album, so they most likely were in England at the time. The sentence is taken directly from the reporter on TV, who said "The sun always shines on TV". They immediately knew it would be a great title for a song. Watching american movies in western Europe, you know. Always nice weather. I guess they have the same feeling about the weather on TV in Washington State and in Vancouver, Canada.

But Morten himself gave me the impression they weren't together long enough to be in a serious relationship. She was just a girl he dated for a short time. He met her when they were making the Take On Me video. (edit: I want to also comment that Morten seemed uncomfortable talking about it. I can't say why. I don't know if it was because it was a private matter he didn't want to discuss or if he was tired of talking about it or what. But I got the impression he would rather talk about something else.)
@@desktopkitty Yes, I also read that's how they met. You say Morton himself told you all this?
Have you reacted to Train of Thought? It is the last video, same animated style of Take on Me... and great vocals from the lead singer.
We have not yet, but have got a lot of suggestions for Train of Thought, so we're definitely gonna do it! Unfortunately, Ryder is only with me in the Summer time, so we'll have to wait a few months to film new reactions together.
What is funny is the "drummer" wasn't even in the band. He was hired for the video to make them look like a full band (A-ha used drum machines for recorded drum parts).
That's awesome! lol Thank you for sharing, I love hearing stuff like that! 😄
AHA was far from a one trick pony. Also check out "Stay On These Roads"
Will do! Thanks for the recommendation!
Cousin Ryan ten albums, plus an mtv live unplugged album, currently now on a world tour, they are doing 3 shows in America next year.
Please buy speakers for your laptop.
this song was on the same album ,so they did not recreate ,just lucky i guess
This A ha's reaction to becoming famous. fun for a while , but mostly fake.
My idea on the title is tv shows no darkness or truth and the manakins symbolize inanimate people following and the faces on the wall sybolize the fake faces you see on tv thats just what ive thought of not sure if thats the angle
That's a great interpretation! I like it! 😁
Another A-ha song I like is Cry Wolf. th-cam.com/video/3c53Ii4irZY/w-d-xo.html
Whats with the sound, sounds like an old transitor radio crap audio is
I saw your reaction to Hunting high and low where you said you were a-ha fan, but i really think you mean you are a Take on me fan. Never heard of either Hunting high and low or The sun always shines on tv dont really make you an a-ha fan :)
You are correct! This reaction was filmed pretty early on when my son and I started this channel... I "thought" I was an A-ha fan when we filmed this, based on how much I love Take on Me. But since filming this, I've been exposed to just how awesome A-ha really is, beyond Take on Me!😁
@@CousinRyan Happy to hear how you have discovered this great band and what they have to offer besides Take on me. They are my favourite band and have an amazing catalogue. Good luck exploring more of them :) My all time favourite song is "Memorial Beach" from the album with the same title. Closely followed by "Scoundrel Days" also from the album with the same title. Would really love to see a reaction to them if you still have not yet discovered these songs.
@@onlyme064 Thank you for the recommendations! I've never heard of those songs, do they have music videos? I'll put them on my list of videos to react to. I've got three weeks of videos scheduled already, but I'll definitely schedule these for the next round! Thank you!😁
@@CousinRyan I noticed now that you only react to songs with a music video and im sorry to say that neither of these songs have one. Ofcourse there are lots of live performences and other videos of these songs you can find here on youtube but no official music video. Scoundrel Days though have a fanmade video where they use live footage from the 80s movie "The Lost Boys" There is also a short video of the tv series "Baywatch" where they used Memorial Beach you also can find on youtube. but i guess thats not what you want to react to. Since im more into the music itself, rather than theire music videos i recommend that you will at some point listen to theire music without letting theire music video play such a big part. If so, enjoy that journey.
@@onlyme064 I'm definitely gonna give these songs a listen. It's just that the focus of our channel and reactions is about the music combined with the performer's music video and I'm not sure I want deviate from that format. I want to react to these songs, but I also don't want to set a presidence for reacting to requested music without a video. I hope that makes sense, I'm not saying "no" to these, just please give me some time.
