Nice analysis! You picked a great one here! (One of my favorites) Lyrically speaking, all their songs are pretty abstract and visual, some even taking on a narrative of sorts, but they are almost never "empty nonsense" or devoid of meaning. Every song on this album has a vein of social or political commentary running through it, a lot of it dealing with the post-9/11 malaise, and the Iraq War, but a few, like this one, explore the dark and exploitive side of human nature. And honestly, you were pretty close, this song explores the victim mindset and how the perpetrator's use the sympathy of others to feed themselves, eventually destroying both parties involved. Johnny (the high-pitched singer) talks about it in a recent interview, recalling that he drew inspiration from personal experiences with these kinds of people.
Huge fan of TBB from early 2000s era. I saw them again live recently for the first time in 20 years . INCREDIBLE live show then and now. I had the best time.
Wild timing, I saw them a lil over a week ago during their first live show in about a decade. absolutely the best performance i have ever seen. What is already present in the studio recordings translates to truly unparalleled energy live
Best show I saw this year! Maybe in the last few years. They sounded amazing and I was so happy they played this song. As much as live albums are hit and miss, I'd love to see one from them, because there is no comparison. They are a "must-see" bucket list band if you are into any post-hardcore/screamo/punk-related music.
One thing about Blood Brothers, they really leaned into surrealism when it came to lyrics. That said, at least a few songs I can think of from them actually do have a specific meaning despite the juxtaposition of words. Every Breath Is A Bomb, for example. And honestly against the chaos of the music I find that surrealism works extremely well to create a pretty cohesive aesthetic. For me anyway hah!
Nice, a blood bros song! I requested giant swan a while back so it's great to see more from them, and this is one of their best songs. Johnny Whitney is insane!! I've really never heard another singer like him. But the other vocalist Jordan Blilie is great too.
A lot of great bands I grew up with lately , I love the aggressive controlled noise and vocals like this. Up there with at the drive in , Black Eyes, Arab on Radar etc
One of my favorite bands, although this is the album where Johnny Whitney’s vocals started to become a bit…too shrill…like almost to the point of sounding out of key at times. Preferred the previous albums.

This band is so much more influential than anybody gives them credit for
Them and Circa Survive are like the unsung heroes of rock in the 2000s
Love to see fans of the band in the comments. It is very interesting to see people who love this work talk about it with insight.
Their such a great band, they have a really great style, very unique within their genre. I can see the vocals being very polarising, but I love it.

Well that was definitely a surreal story they told here 😅
Great comment. I always loved the images and concepts they came up with in their lyrics.

One of my all time favorite bands. This was my myspace song for awhile lol
Oh wow! I totally forgot about putting a song on your myspace page. That unlocked some memories :)
Crimes was peak. Can't wait to see the reunion show.
Holy shit lol so excited for this

SKRAMZ BABY YEAHHHHH
I love blood brothers but I like Johnny's work in headwound city more.
Johnny was not in the band!
That was Jordan.
He wasn
That would have been Jordan.

i never liked that 90's San Diego [Three One G / Gold Standard Laboratories] sound
Weird to call this screamo. Burn piano island burn is their best album.
I got into them by listening to burn piano islan burn, but their most appreaciated work is crimes, although my favourite is young machetes.
absolutely unbearable! this must be a bad joke. i love finding gems
Incredible band. Just not your thing.
