I always hated something from Mario Kart 64....
No matter what difficulty you were, how many mushroom boosts you did, there was always a racer programmed to always stand 2nd or 1st if you slipped on 1 banana on the whole race

I love how up to Mario Kart 7, the "Now Try For a Trophy" themes were sad and "loser"y, but in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, it's got a little bit of a "Sonic Lost World Map Theme" feel to it, or something.

Yes me too I was so scared of that screen when I was little when I got 4 place and below I would get scared and turn of the DS so it would restart the game i was terrified of the “nOw TrY fOr a TrOpHy!” And the music made it more depressing

I don’t remember ever seeing it, but I did have many a nightmare that would end with the Super Mario Sunshine and Sonic 3 & Knuckles/ Sonic 3D Blast game over themes ringing in my ears no matter how quickly I would wake myself up from them… it happened so often I got irritated by it, but fortunately it hasn’t happened for over a decade now since I never lose those games anymore.

The Mario Kart DS one is nostalgic but in a depressing scary way. I used to be scared of the losing screen because I would see in purple a big “nOw TrY fOr A tRoPhY!” The music made more depressing so I always made sure I never got 4th place and below. I had weird fears at a child
