I’ll never forget on the N64 version, if you jump off the side, you can land on another part of the track and be miles ahead of the other racers
I found a small skip on the special cup rainbow road. It will never compare to the n64, but... makes me proud that I found it on accident even if it's not original

My brother actually did that trick! Me, him, and my dad were playing some MK64. I will never forget the look of surprise dad had when my brother did the jump. Dad later asked us where we learned it and we just said "TH-cam" and went, "Fair enough". Ah those were good days
This is why I can’t stand any other Mario kart. The N64 version allowed you the physical mechanics to leave the course or skip parts of the course. I have the Switch version and any time you hit air you turn into a glider and can’t do anything but stay on the course. Why not let the players go crazy and fly wherever they want? It’s because they catered to the young children who would inevitably be playing it.
@@davidswanson5669 I never played that version, but isn't that kind of cheating skipping parts of a course? You get docked for time or DQ'd in races for doing that usually.

The star bits from Galaxy was a great touch, especially since Galaxy was a recent game at the time

64, super circuit, some parts of ds, and some parts of 7 are also transparent. However I do absolutely love the colors and lighting on the wii rainbow road. It's so joyful.

Been playing Mario Kart since the original and I've always found N64's Rainbow Road to be massively disappointing, it's one of the worst tracks in that game. It looks great for its era but that's about all. It's a boring track with far too much dead space, not enough items, and guard rails that don't belong there. The course would be literally 3x as good if they just got rid of the guard rails.
MK8's update had to add so many extra elements and alter the course a TON in order to bring it up to date, way more than they had to do with the SNES track.

Mario Kart DS will always have that special place in my heart. Easily thousands of hours put into that game and I don't regret a single one.
My favorite is the DS because it was my first Mario kart game plus it introduces loops into the course, also I remember doing a glitch falling of it and flying into space

The SNES one is perfect. No wonder it came back on many times after. I remember playing it when it came out. There was nothing like it. This music was great, the track itself was kind simple but made you stay on the edge because it was so easy to fall of. A masterpiece!

I do like how 7 and 8 change the formula of RR. Instead of just a random track in space, there's actual life and atmosphere to it. I hope 9, whenever that comes out, continues this trend and goes crazy with the idea. Maybe a colony? or traversing a black hole or some crazy space shit like that.

Rainbow Road 64 (original)'s the most visually appealing. It's certainly not the best RR racing track, but visually speaking I prefer the RRs with vertical stripes over those with horizontal stripes (I know horizontal gives more of a sense of riding the rainbow, but vertical just looks better), I like that the colors don't blend into each and also aren't blocky, and then there's of course that simple yet great background with neon images of the characters that really pop out in the darkness of space.

favorite will always be Wii version, but I have a special place in my heart for ds and 3ds rainbow roads.
I remember setting a record on the DS version. I beat that record held by one of the testers who put it in there. (Anybody remember those?)
Then I proceeded to beat my own record.
Both by about a second if that.
I have Mario Kart DS still to this day and I do remember the Staff Ghosts in Time Trials, and nice, the fastest I raced was about 2:19, and that was years ago.
Double dash and 7 are my favorites but 64 has the best theme
IMO double dash theme is better than 64. It’s just a redone version, and I think it sounds better

I grew up playing the SNES version, and later the N64 version, of this game. It truly moves me to see these remakes, especially the N64 remake of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I can't believe what my eyes are witnessing - such breathtaking visuals and an incredibly beautiful level.
Graphics have really changed so much, when i was younger i could have sworn the ds games were high quality looking and now just look at what modern graphics cards can do, its insane

What's Cool about Super Circuit is that in the Background, You can see Bowser's Castle from Paper Mario (From The 1st Paper Mario Game)
Rainbow Road from Wii and DS has the best song,while Rainbow Road of 8 Deluxe from Special Cup has the best style.

Wii one is the most fun one especially if you know jo to skip parts but the N64 one was my first Mario Kart so it’ll always have a special place in my heart :) (we used to go over to my neighbour who was in her 50s and her children were already out of house just to pet her dog eat sweets and play this on her kids old N64.. simpler times)

N64 will always be my favourite. Too many memories. The different sections being their own lap in 7 was an amazing idea that deserves a lot of credit though.
N64, Wii, and both the N64 and SNES remakes on the Switch were the best rainbow roads in my opinion.
Sidenote: Seeing the Switch really shows how the graphics have evolved over the decades; it looks fantastic

I was at a clarinet party during our marching band season back in 2017, and we had this party at my friend's house. She had Mario Kart Wii, and I told everyone I would whoop their butts. I did not disappoint. Then, I challenged her brother to a one-on-one race at Rainbow Road, and he beat me. Good times had by all. Mario Kart has been and will continue to be one of my favorite video game series of all time. I absolutely adore Rainbow Road, no matter what version.
