    I'm glad to hear that I"m not the only person who cuts himself with a knife. Last fall I cut a tendon in the back of my hand that took six weeks and a hand cast to heal. Last week I almost cut my thumb off. It seem to me the older I get the more dangerous knives get. I enjoyed your video and stay safe from the funky flu.

    How do you rate the handle? Is it wide enough to give a positive grip, without rotation?

    Sounds too much like El Burrito...sorry. This knife is huge and my hand is already tired and aching just watching you process the wood. I have a Schrade SCHF 9 (call it my Chef Nine) that I love but after a couple trips into the woods with it I found it just a tad too difficult to wield with safety. My favorite knives are my Gerber Strongarms. For me they are great bushcraft knives. The gauntlet series prompted me to buy them. Another knife I love is the very inexpensive Camillus titanium that Walmart sells mostly around Christmas. It came in a package with a green ballistic nylon sheath and a mini blade with an 1 1/4" length. I made the mini blade into a neck knife and 550 wrapped the larger Camillus. It has a 4" drop point and flat grind and is all black. After several hours of sharpening with a mini file, a Lansky puck and a Japanese whetstone it is razor sharp and it will split a forearm hair...that's BS, of course :) I've found it to be a great all-around camp knife and if I lose it, no big deal as it cost under $15. With the 550 wrap it has a pretty cool tactical look and it fits nicely on a 5.11 backpack shoulder strap, my reconnaissance pack. Thank you, Bryan, for all of these videos...nice to wake up to these rather than all of the depressing news on TV.

    That handle doesn't look like any ebony I've ever seen. Ebony is very dark or black, like African ebony. Beautiful knife though.

    • @SurvivalOnPurpose
      @SurvivalOnPurpose  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, much of the ebony is lighter colored or even streaked but in the past that has been wasted because it wasn;t considered as pretty. (I learned that from Taylor Guitars, who have been leaders in sustainable forestry practices to ensure enough wood for guitar components)

  • @mikeboone4425
    @mikeboone4425 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Brian. I am with you on the big knives years ago when they came out with the Arbolito. I was unsure about the handle texture it looked like it would have many hot spots . So I bought the Esculta which has the stag handle and only 11-1/2 inches long it has been a real winner for me. Over the years I've stuck to the more mid range and low end knives . But at 77 going to the higher end but not supper steels yet and have been happy . My Ka-Bar big brother and Trail Master to really different knives but very good knives. What did you think of the handle. Happy Trails

    🎵I like big knives and I cannot lie, you other brothers can’t deny🎵 Put the knife on a good sharpener, and retry the chopping and knife stuff. That is a nice knife. Go for a head to head with that knife, and the Schrade uncle Henry Bowie knife you have.
