Ayo, I've been playing him for a few weeks. short answer: yes. this guy is so much more taxing than chipp it's actually impressive. everything about him is so strange. he has extremely strong zoning, pressure and mixups at the cost of having relatively low damage, poor defence and extremely weird input requirements. figuring out how to use ]H[, stance cancel, reload cancels, dash cancels etc. is genuinely pretty overwhelming. not even to mention the two resources that he is bound to.
In like the early stages of learning and just having to like gain experience and understanding by getting your ass beat, yeah it can be rough. But after a while and a lot of practice and effort he feels really rewarding, and imo playing characters with tons of depth and complexity, and ACTUALLY building your understanding of that character is such a good feeling that it’s worth it.
@@thuroria7631Leffen played Chaos back when he was top 1 and he’s still a high tier character. Not that there’s anything wrong with playing good characters, it’s just that you shouldn’t pretend that Chaos isn’t good anymore, especially against Johnny.

Johnny just can't really go beat for beat with Chaos in neutral. There are a lot of situamations where his best option is to do nothing. BUT chaos builds him a lot of meter and Johnny with meter is POTENT so he does just randomly murder chaos lol. On paper Chaos wins this MU though definitely.
Ups and downs? Just lean? Find your one way? Disaster of passion? Those low level noobs stand no chance against the theme of INT UR ui goku theme from Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle. I’m under hyping the theme it’s that good.

And if the HC has curse on you and focus up then you probably deserve a disadvantage. And what's the disadvantage? Mixup. And you can even throw HC out of the dust startup so it's an interactable mixup. L2P.

this game might actually have more individual defensive mechanics than any other big fighting game right now
About the only defensive mechanism this game is missing from older gg titles is like, slashback and dead angles.
