Gobou knowlege checked あろん so many times throughout these sets, that I lost count. Many Asuka players will do this just to see how much they can get away with, and to see if the opponent knows the match up, or if the opponent is giving the Asuka player too much respect (a problem I see in a lot of NA/EU matches - if you play like a scared animal against Asuka, you've lost even before the screen reads "Slash" - patience is different, and you do need that when playing against the character). Also, a tip from Gobou the Asuka GOAT: When blocking the gravity staff and cubes, it is best to block standing up as much as possible. This is because when crouching, the cubes rotate around you and above your character's head - much like how moons rotate around a planet - this causes the cubes to hit you at a delayed rate; meaning, any cubes that missed your character's head will come back and hit you later on. This increases Asuka's plus frames significantly, and things can get out of control very quickly if Arpeggio is involved. By blocking while standing, the cubes will hit the front of your character, and you won't have to worry about delayed hits of the cubes, and the Asuka player will have less plus frames to set things up. I understand that this isn't always possible when the Asuka player is in range for a 5k > 2D blockstring, but most Asuka players (including Gobou) will use gravity staff with cubes at 1/2 - full screen away. Now I know applying this is much easier said than done; but no other Asuka player is doing gravity staff blockstrings for the same length as Gobou, so hopefully this tip was helpful. Last, Gobou tried to knowledge-check Poka ( ぽっか), but was unsuccessful - Poka clearly knows how to fight Asuka - check out the video from Gobou's stream below: th-cam.com/users/liveRFhAAuIfmYk?si=dR-UUwrEI8M5eM5c&t=2433
@@SoriokuWhether you're losing or winning, having character knowledge will give you an edge that you wouldn't have otherwise and can increase your chances of winning.
@@having765 it's the slowest dp in the game, (frame 14, most invincible reversals are frame 9-11) It has a relatively bitchy hitbox, not going above him at all It costs 20% mana, which is a lot, and something you are nowhere near garunteed when you're on defense given how much mana you lose for getting hit It does bitch damage (not a *huge* downside but still a downside) But the main issue besides its startup is that it's inconsistent It's *1* card in *1* of his 3 testcases, and holding onto cards in offense is a bad idea, so usually it's just trashed because it has a stranglehold on your hand
I like to think Happy Chaos uses a gun over magic because it's just easier to kill someone that way. He could go all cube-vortex-armageddon if he wanted, but that's too much effort compared to just pulling a trigger.
Gobou will still make the character look strong once his offense/win condition is started - just like they do when using Zato. Now, if the nerfs to Asuka (which I am expecting with the December balance patch) are so significant, that Gobou drops the character; then at least Gobou can say that they were the only Asuka player to win a major. The 4 other worldwide players who played Asuka will most likely drop them as well.
@GawainW Gobou makes Zato look busted. Infact Gobou beat quite a few ppl even a premiere nago player with Zato. Gobou is the evidence that Zato players are just capping.
They use Wild Assault to wallbreaks because it grants the same kind of knockdown as a super does for a wallbreak, and it takes away a bit of the opponents burst.
Hydrogen bomb vs hydrogen bomb
If you described this matchup to someone, and then told them it was a fighting game, they would not believe you.

this has to be the first good comment i’ve ever seen on this channel
The guy was still getting rekt. What's your point

@@Sorioku you would have been the type of guy to say Yoshi can't win in melee before this year
insightful comment thank you
I wanna see Gobou’s Asuka with an eye tracker
Man, so many times during arpeggio there were enormous holes to throw out a 2S and Aron just sat there while Gobou built Mana.
The benefits of being a known player is the other persons fear of attempting to disrespect you.
dude got aura’d
I love that these two replies say the same thing

this is probably the most fun matchup to watch. not to mention, Lore accurate.
Fighting gobou has gotta be like fighting a dark souls boss
Training for Gobou’s Asuka gotta be really hard because no one plays Asuka like Gobou

Which should never be confused with That Man, two totally different people
Which man?

I mean even with a full time job 12 sets is an evening's gaming session

Gobou picked the wrong genre to be this insane. It's too crazy what he's doing.
Just wait until he's nerfed like Zato lol...

Nah, gobou is the op one
Gobou is OP but this matchup swings in either characters favor but HC has an easier time setting up and managing resources.
