  • Are you a parent getting ready to guide your teenager through the process of learning to drive? Look no further! In this comprehensive video, we've compiled a list of invaluable tips to help you navigate the challenges of teaching your teen how to drive confidently and safely, all while preparing them for their upcoming driving test.
We're going to delve into the fundamental understanding that your teen ought to possess. Our focus will be on key aspects such as hand placement on the steering wheel, achieving seamless acceleration and braking on straight roads, and an exploration of the vital considerations that young drivers need to prioritize for optimal safety while driving.
Subsequently, we'll address the techniques for executing left and right turns at intersections, along with the adept utilization of road markings and markers to execute turns that are both smooth and secure.
🚗 Driving Straight and Staying Steady:
We kick off by addressing the fundamental skill of driving straight. This involves understanding the balance between acceleration and steering, keeping the car within the lane, and maintaining a steady speed. We share practical tips for parents to effectively communicate these concepts to their teens and help them develop the muscle memory required for smooth and stable driving.
🛑 Stopping at Intersections with Confidence:
Navigating intersections can be nerve-wracking for new drivers. Our video covers the art of smoothly coming to a stop at stop signs and traffic lights. We discuss techniques to ensure the vehicle comes to a complete halt, without jerky movements or abrupt stops, enhancing safety and providing a calm driving experience for both the teen and other road users.
👀 Observational Skills for Safe Driving:
Being an observant driver is paramount. We delve into how parents can instill the habit of checking mirrors, blind spots, and anticipating potential hazards. Teaching teens to scan the road environment constantly helps them make informed decisions, react swiftly, and maintain control in various driving scenarios.
↪️ Mastering Left and Right Turns:
Turning may seem straightforward, but it requires precision and coordination. Our video highlights techniques to make confident left and right turns, including using turn signals, positioning the car correctly in lanes, and yielding to pedestrians and other vehicles. We also share tips on judging the right gap and timing to merge seamlessly into traffic.
    👩‍🏫 Patience and Encouragement:
Teaching your teen to drive requires patience and a positive attitude. Discover effective ways to keep the learning experience stress-free and enjoyable for both you and your teen.

Is there a specific reason why traffic lights in the US are placed on the far side of an intersection? In all european countries as far as I'm concerned they are placed on the near side

I'm guessing it's for visibility. It's easier to see the signal changing when it's 20+ feet ahead of you than when it's right overhead. There are a few cases in the US where the signal is right near where you stop you car, and I have a difficult time seeing it because I have to lean forward and look up. If the sun is bright and I have my visor down, I have to move it just to see the signal.

Not sure what state you’re in but in ours our teens go straight from the DMV into the car with us. There’s no instructor requirement here.
