  • Welcome to foord offroad
This is Instructional video on how to change the serpentine drive belt on a 1kd Toyota engine
This one is a Toyota Hilux, it’s the same for a Toyota Prado with this engine from 2005-2015
Drawing a picture always makes it easier to put back together, especially if it will be apart for a while, changing the water pump for example
A long spanner is easier to do it with than a socket too
    Hope this helps someone out
    Thanks for watching

I’m not much of a mechanic but I solo explore most of the time. I always carry spares and tools and have downloaded videos like this on my iPad in case I get stuck I can refresh my memory if I’m in the middle of nowhere. Very well explained. Just subscribed. Cheers!

I hate putting it back on. Can those tensioners not be locked in position so you can use both hands? Just curious. Thanks anyway. Well explained.

Your videos are really helpful mate! Well done. I’m shopping for a Gates belt and have noticed they come standard or ribbed. Which would you recommend? (2013 Hilux)

Could just be a typo on the retailers website

Thanks, there’s not really any difference in the belts, well there is but not noticeable at the power level of a Hilux
gates is a good brand to go with though

I’d go with gates but up to you on your own car

Great vid. What size is your wrench? I can’t fit my 1/2in ratchet onto the tensioner bolt. The fan is in the way.

      I’m using a 3/8 short ratchet
