Thank you kindly for the video, thanks to you i flawlessly replaced the timing belt on my Hiace (same engine) and im not even a mechanic and basically never work on cars, definetly saved me atleast €300. Ofcourse we cant ignore the fact that these engines are typical Toyota; very easy to work on and extremely reliable.
Brilliant video, want to buy either an N70, Mn triton or D40 navara and just watched one on how to do this on the triton and its so much easier on the Toyota.
Another great vid, thanks for the clutch one too. I'm going to do the water pump and auxiliary belt and pulleys at the same time, according to the workshop manual its quite involved!
Good clip you have however forgot to mention to take care not to drop the washer on the back of the tentioner bolt . If you tighten this bolt with out the washer it will lock up the movement of the tentioner
I’ve watched a few videos of cam belt changes but both cars we have use chains as I am paranoid about belts after my uncle blew an engine up years ago! . I was thinking of getting a Transit Custom (wet belt)… what a shit design ! I ain’t getting a vehicle with wet cam after what I’ve read!:).Your vid is the easiest cambelt change I’ve ever seen. No cam lock tool required, no removing engine mounts to enable access to take off an expensive, one use, wafer thin cam belt cover etc etc Looks like a good engineer designed this engine:). Btw thx for video very clear and to the point. I’m off to Autotrader to look at Hi Lux. Btw I thought HiLux used chain?
It’s just good practice to run the belts this way, generally try do have a direction.. I’ve seen belts fitted the wrong way and never know late any issues tbh
The best tutorial on you tube on how to change the belt just after changing mine
👍👍

Excellent guidance ... easy to follow in order to do correctly. Possible improvement could be guidance on resetting the timing belt light.
