I followed your instructions and everything worked perfectly on my m first try! The coral made the cake really pop and the birthday girl enjoyed eating it. Thank you so much for such a precise, engaging, and easy to follow tutorial! I’ve been watching your other videos and tried the cocoa butter coating to protect the “coral” from butter cream, and that worked perfectly, too! You’re a wafer paper genius!

      Yes you can! Unfortunatly, I don't know your recipe, so would recommend to do a test.

      I haven't tried with rice paper, but maybe to make the mixture thinner (more water) and use higher heat? Bubbles are from boiling the mixture quickly

      You should probably take it off the pan sooner - it breaks when it is too dry

      wafer paper is made out of potato starch and rice paper is rice starch.

      Thank you. Piping gel is a clean neutral gel. It's thicker than glucose syrup and dries faster.

      Yes! If you are living in a very humid climate, you might cover the back side with melted chocolate.

      Yes you can! I recommend using powder color, I find gel color might make it sticky

    Loved this technique, thank you. I wanted to ask you can I use them on a cake with Swiss butter merengue? And for how long can it be in the fridge?

      Yes you can! Generally, if a flower is fully dry (made a few days in advance) - it is safe to put it on the cake and in the fridge.
      I put my cakes in the fridge in a corrugated cardboard box and let them sit at room temperature for a few hours to avoid condensation. And I never have any fresh produce in my fridge, if I’m working on a cake. However, it is important to know your fridge and your room humidity because the difference causes condensation, not the fridge itself. It is better to use a hygrometer and check the humidity to protect wafer paper from melting.

    Hi Anna! Thank you for the tutorial, my lace was beautiful! But I do have one question. I tried to attach the lace to a buttercream (not fondant) cake with edible glue (water and tylose powder) but it wasn’t working great. What to your recommend to make sure the lace will stick to the buttercream?

      You can use buttercream or royal icing to attach wafer paper decorations.

    This is Pam and wondering what heat did you cook your lace on the stove? Also I live in Florida so could I still make the lace in advance? I have a wedding cake coming up and would like to use the lace. Very pretty!

      About medium-high. Yes, if you watch this video, I show how to store this lace, so you can make it in advance (months in advance is fine)
