Not even solitude or windhelm were that big either. They are both called “cities” but they are both the size of towns. Maybe a village but that pushing it. And those are the “big” cities. The the smaller ones are literally just truck stops. Like a bar, a place to trade and the jarl of the “city” oh and like one other house that the bartender lives in. 99% of open world maps are just trees and roads so its not like they don’t have room to make the cities into actual cities. They definitely do. I also hope that the “cities” in es6 have variety and there isn’t like three cities whole the rest are copy/pasted.
I love how it seems similar to Windhelm in architecture while still being distinct from it. It really fits in with the style of the College. The layout finally makes sense, too. It never made sense to have the Jarl's longhouse right at the front of the town where it can easily be attacked. I just wish it expanded the city limits and population just that tiny bit more, because even as a ruin it still feels unnaturally underpopulated.
There are mods out there that add more generic unnamed npcs to towns like winterhold like populated towns and cities but idk how compatible it is with this
@@kaydonb.5706 Yeah, that's my main issue. This feels deceptively a lot like an actual city, so the small population really bugs me. Just one or two more people would make it work. Maybe I can _"learn to code"_ and add them myself, but who knows if I'll get around to it?
I cant wait for winter in my game. Seasons of skyrim skse changes everything. The great cities is phenomenal. I hope that he updates the main all in one mod at some point.
We need a mod where we can answer Faralda's "What do you expect to find within here?" question with "I am seeking the secret magic of transmuting wood into gold."
It's never documented to be Skyrims capital. Edit: I was wrong. Sorry about that. Winterhold was capital of Skyrim in the first era under the Rule of Borgas.
I like the Winterhold ruins idea but winterhold is meant to be an entire kingdom, the city itself should have more life to it and be more restored in recent times, even if it isn't very well travelled or visited, and more villages dotted around to keep the kingdom afloat. How else would it still exist? obviously people still live there and are able to keep it around.
@@Abrakadabro666 Did arthmoor pay you to say that? Or are you just one of his cult members that believes he is the one true Mod author that everyone should bow down to?
I read Windhelm and was about to say: the community has no love for Windhelm 😅 I love this Winterhold redesign. In the vanilla game and in the other great rework of Winterhold, I always find the college out of place. In this mod, it looks like it belongs. 😌
So I gotta be honest I love what’s going on here but I really think a fully restored winterhold, filled with skilled mages, could do something crazy. I’m talking an island of greenery in an arctic tundra. Surrounded with magic suns and ecosystems from different mage embassies, think house telvani. It would be great to see bustling docks with a variety of ships and imports. I want to see something that makes solitude look like worst part of town.
"As with Whiterun, the name Winterhold describes both the hold and its capital city, though the word "city" hardly applies. The hold capital is a meager village built near the mages' college." - Holds of Skyrim. Doesn't match the ingame descirption but it looks good.
So Ive tried this mod again and again. Patched everything imaginable. Started a new game. Generated a new DynDoLOD. Yet, I still have clipping everywhere. Buildings disappear in the distance and reappear, roofs float around, guards bump into walls, etc. Would it be possible that my lower-end gpu card simply can't handle it?
Yeah or something like the helgen reborn quest mod but with winterhold. Imagine if that was the quest to become thane of winterhold rather than just finding a helmet and getting a drunkard to pay his tab.
Hey this is about a mod u did a bit ago on Skyrim. Guards armor replacer. U hav ur whiterun guards equipped with Chan mail on their face but the mod has them open faced so pls tell me how u made them hav chain mail
Do you have a load order for this along with the other cities + patch? My TGC Winterhold isn't working correctly. I think the vanilla town didn't get overwritten and is popping up inside TGCW causing a whole slew of navigation issues. The initial entrance is completely blocked.
Love it. That would've been cool if skyrim had an economy system similar to fable. The more people you help and the more stuff you buy and sell in a town, increases its income thus changing buildings from run down, to fancy.
It's beautiful but just a big empty dead place. There are no new voiced NPCs etc., old mods adding NPCs (Inconsequential NPCs for example) are incompatible with no patch authors wanting to make a patch for it. So it's pretty on the outside but just an empty set dressing.
Agree. I absolutely love the texture and the architecture of the city from this mod, but i hate the fact that most of the Winterhold overhault doesn't add NPC's and buildings/interiors, it seems so unnatural... ok the Great Collapse, but if Winterhold before that was the size and population of Solitude and Windhelm (in vanilla game both around 25 buildings and 60-70 people living), even after the disaster and the decline it should be left something equal or at least close to Morthal and Falkreath (the 2 smaller capital)... well, those 2 are double of Winterhold in buildings and have triple population (unless one count also the population of the College, in wich case the population is nearly the same, but i think this is a bit like cheating)... with 4 buildings and 7-8 people outside mages it's only a Stonehills with more buildings but less economy and life, nothig to do with a hold capital
Remember everyone, the only reason this city was "destroyed" is because Bethesda is so damn lazy that they couldn't even be bothered to complete there own game... & it's only gotten worse, Fallout 4 didn't even have 1 major Town, Dimond city was all we got & its a glorified shack @ best.
At last, a Winterhold that would have been a true rival to Solitude or Windhelm before its collapse.

Finally. A mod that has mastered the delicate balance of making Winterhold super cool and beautiful, but still a broken shadow of its former self.

Truly worthy of being the former capital of Skyrim. Fantastic work.
Hey Artic great video! Have you done a Seasons of Skyrim video yet?

Now gen Tulius will be happy to take Winterhold in exchange in Season Unending quest.
