  • India and its foreign policy, largely defined as having strategy autonomy, has remained the same since India's independence in 1947. Despite efforts from across the international system, especially the US in recent years to court New Delhi closer, Modi's government has remained staunchly neutral.
However, as Abhijit Iyer-Mitra, an expert on India, explains this might change after India's latest election and Modi's now weakened government.

India's strategic autonomy is a legacy of India's Freedom Struggle 1857-1947.

Boring, Boring, Boring. AY Mitra is trying to avoid correct answer by going back to distant history, which has no meaning today.

It seems Modi has not succeeded in preventing Russia and China from getting very close after all.

Out of his hands. Both are cornered by US. It was just a matter of time before they joined hands.

      Lou,
NATOs 32 countries support Ukraine, who did you expect heavily sanctioned Russia to go to, Somalia?
But the best part is we can always blame Modi & call it his failure.

Russia loves Pakistan more than India. And will clearly become a vassal state of China. China will eventually pit Russia against India.
