I do like how soft Trumpeters PE is. Very easy to work with. Beautiful pit, wing seam filled in easily. Like the flap set up, nice detail. This'll be a good looking bird
Tip to prevent creating flat spots, and preserve surface geometry when filling a seam on a curved surface: Use a file that cuts in both directions or a sanding stick. Never file parallel to the seam. Always file perpendicular to the seam. On the forward stroke, rock the tip of the file upwards, and the handle of the file downwards such that the near part of the file is following the geometry on the near side of the seam. On the back stroke, do the opposite such that the far side of the file is following the geometry of the far side of the seam. Even pressure on both forward and backward strokes is key. Imagine the file's point of contact as the tangent point between two opposing curves - the surface of the object and the mirror image of that surface created by rocking the file in this manner. This tangent point will move either side of the seam as you stroke and rock the file, but the arc created by the file will always be a mirror image of the object at that particular tangent point. It takes a little practice to perfect this non-intuitive motion, but the result is well worth the effort... No flat spots and the original surface geometry is much more accurately preserved. I learned this technique many years ago from an old Italian gentleman who hand-crafted aluminum body panels for Ferrari for a living. Hope someone gets some use from this tip.
Nice build!! I hear this kit has some more accuracy issues around the nose, but it looks lovely to my eye. I think i might have to get me one of these?
Thanks mate, yes the kit itself has a couple of notable issues that being the cockpit floor and the top of the nose, it’s major problems are in the marking options all being wrong with the exception of x55 (only because I have not been able to prove either way), two of the others are long fuselage variants and one is lacking majorly in the additional markings needed! If you’d like to have a look I’ve done a video on the issues here: th-cam.com/video/VX-GHiNYoSo/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching 👍 btw I got mine from Antics, so they may well have this in stock......;)
Hey man would just like to give you a sanding tip I made my own Flex file years ago before Flex file came out with theirs use coat hanger bend it to the shape of a slingshot cut your sandpaper strips any width about 5 in Long with loops on both ends glued with Superglue slide them over your slingshot and you have your own Flex file works great I've done it for years give it a try my friend
No problem Paul, it seems like a good idea and would work, I will definitely give it a go not sure when but I will. I make my own skinny sanding sticks with 2 or 3 mm balsa, just some auto wet and dry slap some copydex down slap the balsa on weight it down and just trim, I think the latex glue gives it a bit of bounce like the foam sanding sticks. I do love a bit of diy maybe that's why we model too. Take care buddy and once again thanks for the tip.
Thanks again for getting back. I noticed I forgot to mention the whole idea of the use of the slingshot style sanding you may know but just in case. It's for sanding rounded surfaces what fuselages without creating flat spots it allows the little sanding strip to curve around the surface you are standing sorry man thought I bettered add that so maybe you would have a better idea FYI I made one peace my friend
Mate I like your videos, but I would rather hear you explaining any kit issues and how you worked around them or just a general commentary on the build. Let's be honest TH-cam music sucks.
I take the point but an overwhelming amount of people don’t like that, I have since settled on some with music and some with commentary. Check some of the older builds for more in depth commentary
I Appreciate the feedback but if I don’t speed it up people complain and if I do people also complain, I’ve had complaints about the music and anything else that can be complained at so..... This is now my format and I’m afraid you’ll just have to take what you can from the video and try to rein in you anger, I appreciate you watching, thanks.
You advertise this as a "full build" yet the video ends with the aircraft not 100% built or painted. I would suggest titling your videos better and say part 1, part 2, painted...etc. I have to say I was a little disappointed when I was wearing the end if the video and realized I was not going to see a finished product.

Nice work. I've made a couple of Trumpeter 32nd scale kits (109 and 262). Very happy with both fit and detail of both.
Nice build, great looking P40, well done!...Bill
Really like the way you have displayed your video build. Excellent build on the Trumpy P-40. Looking forward too part two.
great work so far. I know how the seam line was on mine you did good. cant wait for the next video
Man oh man you worked your butt off on this one...
Nice one mate, looks like a pretty decent kit. Enjoy the painting stage, look forward to seeing her with clothes on! Cheers : )
I build trumpter models all the time. There not bad. I wish they put pilots in the kits. Great job on the p-40 by the way.👍👍👍👍👍
That looks a nice kit mate! Look forward to the next one.Wouldn’t mind doing this one 😍 Great work so far🍻👍
Really nice kit!
AWESOME WORK
It is looking very nice indeed and I like the scale as well
Excellent job so far 👍
Great work and great video👍 it is coming along well!:)
ASTONING PRESENT ONE BY ONE STEP.
excellent build

I liked the cockpit and the gunsight is to bad. But will look great when done. Nice so far.
The "sideways" clippers you use, what is the technical name for them? You don't see them often and I could use with a pair myself.
Thanks for the narration and construction tips. Or not….

I will try thanks .... actually I haven't seen a wire coat hanger in probably a decade 🤔.
Any good stiff piece of wire will do. Thanks for getting back with me man have a great day stay safe

P-40F... That's rara avis.
I wish someone would do a kit in 1:48th.
Otherwise it's coming up nicely!
That hectic fumbling makes me nervous and ... angry !!! Good work, but that video !???
