Yojimbo was the first film we saw in Film History Class...wayyyyyyy (wayyyyyy wayyyyyyyyyy) back when.....so good.....is it possible you do the whole samurai movie thing in January because it ties in with Lunar New Year????? Safe travels

If you want a good Samurai film and also released by Criterion Collection, my favourite is "Samurai Trilogy" starring Toshiro Mifune (i.e. starring in numerous Akira Kurosawa film, Yojimbo, Rashomon, Seven Samurai and to name a few), directed by Hiroshi Inagaki. Its pretty much a "Gone With The Wind" like epic story about the legendary swordsman, Musashi Miyamoto. I would say give Criterion Collection a go with Japanese cinemas, not just Samurai related, but other slow burn drama or Japanese horror, i.e. Kwaidan. :)
