    19:47 Mizen to Malin is popular with the Irish cycling community often as charity fundraisers. One morning last week I met such a group leaving Sligo headed for Letterkenny and on to Malin the next day. Fair play to them they're hardy, and some of them weren't in the first flush of youth.

    • @midlifemotorcyclediaries
      @midlifemotorcyclediaries  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      They certainly are a hardy bunch! Tried cycling once but couldn’t get used to not being able to twist the throttle! 😂😀👍

    Ah, I know this road and area well. We took the girls from Derry into the Republic on January 1st 1999, when the Euro came into existence. They loved the name Loch Swilly for some reason! We went into a bank, gave them both some sterling and got them to change it into Euros. Poor kids, two parents who were teachers, always looking for an educational experience!!. So the most fascinating 'experience' was seeing the bus to Derry City pull up in Buncrana. On the shelf by the driver, there were three plastic cups, one with sterling in it, one with punts in it and their other with Euros..Oh joy!!..Sue W..

    Hi - its Big Rodders in Ireland. Glad this leg of the trip was mainly dry. Donegal is a huge county and Malin Head is beautiful but you missed some glorious scenery and roads in the north west. I have a place there and this year have done 4500 miles on my fabulous CB125F exploring places including the Bloody Foreland, Horn Head and Mt Errigal to name just a few. I'm also very familiar with your next leg and hope you do a lap of the famous NW200 race circuit where 210mph had been reached on the public road between Portstewart and Coleraine.

      @midlifemotorcyclediaries  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Sunday morning breakfast with MMD playing on my phone. I always enjoy your vids and the informative editing style 👏 btw have you ever posted a review by Sue about her Triumph 900? Good and bad points?

    • @midlifemotorcyclediaries
      @midlifemotorcyclediaries  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Alan, we did an 800 to 900 video in 2021 when I first bought the 900 and I struggled to find anything negative to say about it. Two and a half years and c12000 miles later and I still have nothing but praise for it ☺️ I’ve been asked by other 900 owners if I can feel any unusual vibration or excess heat from the engine but I haven’t experienced either - and it’s a great bike to ride 👍Thanks for watching our adventures ☺️

    How wonderful to be on the roads less traveled! The Gap at Mamore was stunning and wasn’t that sunshine I saw? Sue appeared to be at the top of the world at Malin Head. The drone footage and soundtrack were right on . Thank you Brian and Sue for another wonderful travel video. The inspiring story of Newton’s Amazing Grace was one I hadn’t been aware of. Greetings from Berlin, Jim. (P.s., on the weekend I will take a look at the new GS ….just looking!).

    • @midlifemotorcyclediaries
      @midlifemotorcyclediaries  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Jim 🙏 the Gap of Mamore was a great road! The story of John Newton was new to us too - we knew about the Olney connection (having lived there) but knew nothing about the Irish connection ! 👍😀( I’m also looking to check out the new GS - but only looking!)

    Shame the weather wasn't a little better for you. But always enjoy watching you journeys. Bet a following drone like itchy boots uses would have have given some stunning shots of the area. Check out the new weiser products for the poor indicators and rear lights on our gs's.

    • @midlifemotorcyclediaries
      @midlifemotorcyclediaries  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks very much Tim 🙏 yes the weather could have been much better! Did want to get the drone up more but the wind didn’t allow it most of the time - not sure if it’s worth spending time on the indicator issues! 👍😀

    Enjoyable episode. Glad you had a bit of half decent weather. Views from the final stop bedroom windows were stunning. Finding decent coffee is getting better virtually everywhere, we a fans of a decent flat white.
    We just wonder with the publicised routes like this, how many great roads and places get overlooked? When we do Scotland we now deliberately don't ride many of the NC500 roads simply because they've become so busy with folks following the 'route'??

    • @midlifemotorcyclediaries
      @midlifemotorcyclediaries  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Richard, we were so glad to have some sunshine for a while! As a coffee snob I’m always on the lookout for a good flat white 👍 You’re absolutely right about publicised routes - in fairness, the WAW is nowhere near as busy as the NC500 but there’s no doubt sticking to any route means missing some other great roads. But that means more reason to go back and do other stuff! 😀👍

    Thoroughly enjoyed your final Wild Atlantic Way video. I climbed The Gap of Mamore during a bicycle race in the early seventies and wished I’d had a GS then. By coincidence, I also stayed at the Seaview in May 2018 at the end of a 7 day WAW trip and I think your rating was generous. Keep producing those great videos. Many thanks, Brian.
    Ps. What mileage have you done on your bikes at this stage ?

      @midlifemotorcyclediaries  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Brian - the Gap of Mamore by bicycle sounds horrendous 😱! Give me a GS anytime 😀 Sue’s Triumph has just over 11,000 and my GSA has has just under 4,000 - so not even run in yet! 😀👍
