That said , if you kip a muscle up af like the average guy (I was among them lol) it just makes u ridicolous rather than "cool", unless your purpose is to impress people who dont have any minimum knowledge about bw training and strength in general

Honestly the first time I did a muscle up it was the most exhilarating feeling. It literally felt as if I was on top of the world. Over time however, I realized that it was a movement that put stress on my elbows and shoulders. It was also replaceable with other movements and wasn’t some unique move for secret strength.

The muscle ups strangely feel awesome when you do them. There's no other exercises that feel as rewarding as them, not sure why. I love them, but I do them mostly as a 'warm up' before a workout. 5-6 clean muscle ups for a few sets and after that, I feel hyped and ready for my levers, pull ups, etc,

As soon as your form breaks down enough that your chest touches the bar, start doing dips, then finish with pull ups (or another muscle up). I've been doing these for years, sure they might do nothing for front levers and handstand pushups, but I've never known a move to be so useful for motivating me to do more reps

I say it is more of a skill you learn to make sure you can pull explosively. I was at like 18 pull ups before I got my first muscle up because I would pull slowly. Not necessary but just helps you be a more well rounded calisthenics athlete if you are able to do them.

I had started working on them at age 16 when I saw a guy do one behind the high school gym and was hugely impressed, made a horizontal bar behind my parent's house and worked very hard at it, getting that first one. I was a wrestler (not very good - average); so, was an athlete and weight lifter. The trick was an "over grip" on the bar and having very thin, light legs, lower body. My strength was all in my upper body. I am now 81 and can not do a regular pull up.

The goal is to go straight up and down as much as possible, but this is great for starting muscle ups nonetheless!

Basically a muscle up is like a ferrari. Its a symbol of consistency, practice, hardwork, dedication and also is great to show off. However you can have other cheaper cars that will have the same function as the ferrari in terms of being a car that drives you from A to B.

3:44 Muscle ups can also help in pulling skills like front lever ,backlever and one arm pull-up right? Like not directly but learning the muscle up is good start for lever and oap journey right?
