Okay, okay. Caraval is for sure worth the next two books. Tella is a really fun character to follow around and it’s definitely different- things kind of expand in the world- but also Tella’s romance with the characters introduced is just *chefs kiss*

Hi Cari! Totally feel you on the reading slump, even though I caught up on the Grishaverse and finished Rule of Wolves at the end of April, I feel like I've been in a funk ever since LOL. Also listened to Crying in H Mart on audiobook after catching your reading vlog, and I totally feel you on the nonfiction for audiobooks, I'm way too much of a visual person to manage fiction like that haha. And yes, loved that Michelle narrated it! *chef's kiss* And I have The Gilded Wolves on my kindle right now, so perfect timing to hear your thoughts on that! Sending love and good energy from the Bay, as usual xx

Cari! I have 3 recommendations for you.
1: The Song of Achilles. I'm sure you've been recommended this book hundreds of times but its such an amazing book. And if you do read it, could you please do a reading vlog?
2: A duology called the Sands of Arawiya duology. The first book is We Hunt the Flame and the second book is We Free the Stars. The book reminded be a bit of Six of Crows so i'm sure you'll be interested. It's based off ancient Arabia and there is a heist with an extreme slow burn romance. And trust me when I say its a crazy ride of emotions. I swear I cried like 10 times for each book.
    Love your videos Cari!

I found this video because I'm currently hooked on the second book of Caraval, "Legendary." and I didn't really want to continue after Caraval because of the same thoughts as Cari but I still did because I am obsessed with finishing series books. Anyway, I'd say read the second book of Caraval. There's a whole lot more and I think a better plot with the mystery, uncovering the back story, and slowly (not yet sure but) falling for Master Legend as his identity gets revealed. I haven't finished it but I say go for reading the second book. :)

RED RISING by Pierce Brown!! Perhaps a bit outside of your wheelhouse since there's no "main gal", the protagonist is male. The first trilogy is told from his perspective, but the 2nd trilogy (2 books are out thus far) have more than one narrator. Great world-building and super interesting characters. I'm so sad you DNFed Mask of Mirrors! I LOVED that book! It's a slow political intrigue and, and I think the imbuing magic is very soft and vague (and I'm still not sure why there is Pattern and Numinatria for different ethnicties, but they all seem to be able to imbue) - and I was VERY confused in the beginning, but I kept going and ended up falling in LOVE with the story. I think the next book will really pull it all together. Oh, and who the Rook is takes quite a few twists and turns, so you are probably wrong. It is a complicated, adult fantasy - and it's not perfect, but I still gave it 5 stars because the good outweighed the bad by that much to me. I understand it won't be for everyone, though!

but maybe it's because I like more anxious and insecure main characters instead of sassy and confident main characters because I think they're more relatable and give room for more character development

For video ideas, I love all your outdoors reading vlogs, but for indoors you can do tag videos, like the mid-year book freak-out tag that's going around right now, or you can do themed recommendations lists like summer reads or books for a rainy day or fairycore books. You can also do a short readathon. I'm excited for the upcoming summerween readathon (2-8th July), where we can read all the spooky halloween books in the middle of summer!🎃👻

I bet even simple writing would look interesting with that nib ! I'm a serial note-taker and a good pen makes writing enjoyable but something like this nib would also give the font a lot of flair, I would think.

I really liked Caraval (and thought it was going to be a standalone). I was disappointed in the other 2 books in the series (Legendary and Finale). Kingdom of the Wicked was just ok for me but I'm going to read the second book anyway.

I really enjoyed Caraval when it came out (I think I was 17?) and then I was excited for the second one Legendary which was fairly good, but didn't entice me to read the last one, Finale. Now, at 21, I tried to read Finale and absolutely could not. I'm not sure if I grew out of the story or the writing but it was a huge no for me.

I bought Kingdom of the Wicked because I didn't want to wait for the library, but I didn't love it. I'll probably still read the second book though! I'd recommend The Empirium trilogy if you haven't read it already. It's 3 books, finished, and so good!

You convinced me to go back and finish Before the Coffee Gets Cold and I’m glad I did! Curious to know your thoughts on Murakami’s First Person Singular. I really liked The Elephant Vanishes but I felt his latest collection of short stories fell flat for some reason. I liked the onsen monkey story, but the others just didn’t do it for me. Recommendation: Penance by Kanae Minato. Crime/psychological thriller with a twist.

I loved Kingdom of the wicked series! It is definitely a series that more questions are answered in every book but was extremely disappointed in her spin off series Throne of the fallen. I was so disappointed because i was so excited for that one.

I recommend you the Merle Series: dark reflections: The water mirror, The stone light, The glass word by Kai Meyer. It takes place in a magical Venice. I absolutely loved it back then, but I didn't read it in the English translation though. But it should be fine.

Could you please make a video dedicated to "Adult Fiction/Fantasy".
I struggle with reading about 'young' protagonists. I'm 30 and i feel like I've grown out of the young adult book scheme. But it seems like a lot of youtubers focus on YA.
Also: I would like to get into Graphic Novels. Some good GN for Adults! Any recommendations?
