Shoutout Thirsty and Sweet Water! You're a badass. Way to push through! That snowy pass looked tough! The views look amazing!!
Hey North Star... What will be remembered most about this video is not your fear----but your FAITH. What a beautiful demonstration of God's words in Proverbs 3:6 "In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." We have seen you acknowledge Him before and now again He has "directed your path" by using two hikers to guide you and demonstrate to you and us that when there is no way, He... is the way!
Nothing "JUST happens" anyway. God allows some things to happen, and He causes some things to happen, but nothing "just happens" without His control. Those two hikers who helped you didn't "just happen" to be there but were guided by the unseen hand that is ever present for those who cling to His words, "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee."
And let the tears flow, North Star, it's OK, for they are not a sign of weakness but rather just a release of emotions.
You are a total BADASS! The trail provides. God provides. And you did it! Well done!
Wow! You did it. Great job! I bet it was scary, but you conquered it!
Wonderful wildlife, running streams, beautiful scenery on this earth with North Star bad ass determination.
Challenging day and you overcame your fears, great job. Very glad you had help to conquer the day.
Tough day but you did it. Nice effort.
Glad those two came along to help darlin. You’re doing good, keep it up. Love you
Ummm... your most harrowing day on trail, that I can recall watching. My goodness. You showed great strength North Star, as always. Glad you made it, and hope you are well. Best, Jack NYC
Wow what a challenge, what an accomplishment !!! Mac&Cheese are the perfect comfort food.
You pushed through your fear and the emotions needed releasing afterward! If thru-hikers, climbers and adventurist are honest, we’ve all been there. Reflect on the situations and grow from them! This is the first video of yours I’ve watched and I appreciate your courage and definitely the fear. Glad ya made it and are inspiring us to keep moving upward and onward.
You are brave and wonderful!! Keep on your journey!! You are inspiring others and we all wish you the best!!
This was awful to watch and made my heart hurt terribly. You are so strong and powerful!
I cried watching this one. You are amazing overcoming this difficult part of your journey.❤
Oh my goodness. You had me crying. I’m glad your 2 angels helped you over the snow. Keep up the good work. Stay safe.
Great job! I hiked the collegiate west a few summers ago... it was simply spectacular. I also had some scary spots of snow crossings etc. Good job pushing through, persevering! And what a blessing to have thirsty and sweet water provide assistance! Great job!
Hey Audrey, have been binge watching the CT videos, and here it is Day 17. Am from here in CO, and have hiked it and have to say that it's as much mental (weather) as it is physical...and, have to say, have seen a hundred youtubes on the CT, and you've done a great job!!
Thank God , for your safety . Thanks for a great testimony
awesome vids , living your dreams
Great job. Way to be brave. Tears are okay. Jesus is always there.
I just ran into Thirsty here in Jackson WY and he filled me in on the whole situation featured in your video here. I totally understand the feeling of being out there by yourself and running into a scary challenge that might be too much to handle on your own. I’m so glad Thristy and Sweetwatah happened upon you and could help you out through a rough spot. Hikers helping hikers!
@@JustInCaseHikes I would love his contact information if you have it!
@@AudreyGibson573 sent it to you on insta
The bug bites look painful. Those CDT hikers were a godsend.Great video.
Glad you got through such a tough section safely with the help of trail angels! God provides! I think you should consider getting crampons in the next town if you are going to continue hiking in such high elevations!! Stay safe!
I just got off for a break after the lake walk in section 11 and saw this video. I feel you on the bug bites. The bugs in sections 8-11 ate me up too. Hang in there. I've only done day hikes in the Collegiate West. The weather up there is wild.
You did it! So thankful you ran into the CDT hikers.
Oh Northstar….that was terrifying. I was in tears with you. So glad you made it.
Oh good I wasn't the only one with a tear in my eye!😊
plz DONT cry i cant deal w that. i feel ya but cant help ua 😮😢.
all turned out well. the Lord sent help !!!! ur learning like we all did !!!!! ATB miss Audrey !!!!😊
Wow! You saw ptarmigans!!! Lucky you! I am a recent follower of your Colorado Trail adventures. I live in Taos now but lived for several years in the high country of the Colorado Rockies. Please be safe out there.
~ Montane (my trail name)
You know what to do when the going gets tough. Very proud of my Audrey. Pa loves 😊you!
I live in Leadville, these are very serious mountains here good for you overcoming that anxiety, see ya out there im SOBO Aug. 1 ✌🏼
Great job, Audrey! There must be a draft in here; my eyes are watering. Stay safe & press on!
Audrey you are a monster. 16 miles madd up of high elevation gains in such tight mileage let alone rock scrabbled and frozen ice crossings. You are amazing. Shenanigans you showed such raw emotion I wanted to do something to comfort you and realizing you are out there alone. Monster you are one. God Bless you and keep you safe from harm. ❤😊
That is a pretty good amount of snow above Taylor Park for this time of year. I go camping and fishing there a lot. Mirror Lake is a beautiful place as well. I know that snow is slick and scary, I hope I'm not out of line telling you this. When you go across snow like that, make sure you keep your weight above your feet. What I mean is short steps, So you are full weight on each foot as you step. When you take longer steps you are displacing your weight so your feet will slide a little making it possible for your foot to slide out from under you. We get caught in storms on ridges with full on fresh snow, I guess it is just something we have learned growing up in the Mountains. I am glad you got help and made it. There is no shame in fear or tears. You got it under control and still faced the challenge. Awesome job. I think once you hit Monarch you will be able to fly to Slumgullion Pass. From Slumgullion to Silverton you might have a little snow, but it has been really hot, It should be melting off. Hope that helps you out.
You went thru a lot today. Just when you were apprehensive about crossing over the snow field up that ridge and kazowi, two hikers show up. Guardian angels watch over us. Faith and strength guide you on your amazing adventure. Thank you for posting your day. 🌲✌
So God sent you 2 angels huh !!!!
PTL !!!!!
Audrey thanks for sharing your journey. I never would have dreamed that area would have so many unsafe situations. It's definitely beautiful there. I was surprised to see you get emotional. I think for safety sake it would be nice to have a hiking companion. Oh yeah, don't they have bears there? I was thinking about the bears stopping by for dinner with you in your tent. 😅 Be careful, stay safe and enjoy your Hike. 🚶 🏕 🍳 🔥 😊 🙏
Hiked several of the same areas in the Collegiates. Lived in Buena Vista for about 20 years. Rule #1 when above tree line. Get there by Noon and off by 1:00. Weather changes by the minute and do not want to be exposed in a storm. Cold, rain, hail and lightening.
What a scary day! I am so relieved you made it safely, and that you didn't have to do it alone. You are so brave. Maybe it sounds weird, coming from a stranger on the internet, but I am so proud of you and your perseverance. I was definitely crying with you. But you did it! That has to feel amazing, facing something like that and getting through it. Between that and the unreal views, plus the kindness of strangers, I hope it was ultimately a rewarding experience for you. Stay safe out there, and know that you are an inspiration.
I am proud of you, Audrey.
I don’t remember the exact quote so consider this a paraphrase of World War I ace Eddie Rickenbacker;
BRAVERY is not the absence of fear, bravery is the overcoming of fear.’
Audrey you are Brave.
Now look yourself in the selfie camera, and tell yourself you are BRAVE three times ❤❤❤
You did it and you can do it again.
And yes, maybe God did send you angels when you need them .
Hugs Audrey, hang in there.
A tough day, both physically and psychologically. Beautiful flowers, views and mountain weather, complete with snow fields and hail - daunting, especially when hiking alone. And the two that helped you along? The Trail really does provide, doesn't it? You made it - bravo - a memory that will forever lodge itself in your psyche, recurring every so often to reveal your courage and temerity. Be well, stay safe. 🥾
Good heavens Audrey, y did you wait SOOO long to put big juice on ??????. Maybe it sounds a little crazy but B4 I put my pack on, b it trailhead, or each AM, I get bug prepped !!!!
They REALLY like me 😮😢, alot !!. My wife says I am her bug protection cuz they come after me not her !!!! That's not fair 😅😂. Anyway the scenery is incredibly beautiful. Just reminds me of why I hate Arizona all the more. So thanks for the pictures and the videos and doing all the hiking for me so I can sit here and enjoy it while the AC is running cuz it's 113 + outside !!!.
Peace and Keep on rocking the free world Audrey ,!!!
North Star, how did you not plan to hike with Joe in this section? It seems like he got off easy!😉Then again, you're a seasoned thru-hiker although the CT certainly has some different kinds of challenges compared to the AT. You are usually well-researched and well-prepared (one reason you're a great teacher), so I am surprised you didn't have micro spikes and/or an ice ax for this section. But, you persevered, and with the help of angels, you made it through. On behalf of the snack-food industry, thank you for helping to keep many fine companies in business.🍬🍫
Audrey, as you know, I never thought you would succeed on the AT. You are a great hiker! You are tenacious! Your tears only remind me of the fighter you are. Always your fan!!
epic video!!!
Follow up comment. Got snow at Lake Anne on July 4th. It was a whiteout on the ridge.
I actually think it’s easier with the snow. Having done that climb twice it’s nothing but scree.
Not 100%, but I think the boulder field is called skre…experienced that hiking Sandia Mountain in New Mexico.
Very intense section, glad angels were sent to help guide you!
... If you are or plan to be a 14er in Colorado ,, you will find lots of scree at the alpine peaks ..
You are strong and capable of so much 👣💕
God guides and the trail provides and cookies and comfy clothes at the end of the day make up for a lot :)
Scary!
Hello Audrey 😇💔🎈💯🎊🎈🙏
... The high Rockies can have deep snow patches this time of year ,, even fresh falling snow ... The key to hiking ,Especially high rocky peaks ,, is Planning and Preparation ,, know what's ahead ....
... BELIEVE IN YOURSELF ... and your strengths will shine ...
... If you always lean on your faith to take on tasks and accomplishments ,, your own skills and abilities will never grow ...
... 6-P"s ..... and BE PREPARED .... especially solo and on unknown treks .. .. Hikers die every day in unknown areas .... somewhere ..
trail angels come in more than one variety - God Bless!
I totally get why you got emotional. What I can't figure out is why I got emotional. LOL.
Way to work, lady! You keep inspiring my old ass to get out there.
So you made it. Totally scary up there. In decades past have experienced the same. You did great.
Prayers for your safety. 🙏
This was impressive, It really was.....You are a tough cookie!!!😊🥰👍👏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Just know we’re with you, in spirit. You can do this. We know you can.
You are one strong person!! And it was amazing that 2 angels showed up to help you. You are doing great , stay strong!!
I hate hiking in the snow primarily because it hides the trail. Way to persevere!
Those bugs are eating you alive!
Audrey!!! It’s ok to cry!!! I cried today also!! You are so amazing!!’
GOD sent angels in the form of humans to protect you!! You got this!!
Audrey, I was praying someone would come by and give you directions. I'm so proud of you. You're so brave.
I can't imagine how scary that was with no micro spikes. You did soooo good! No shame in shedding a few tears when you're scared or stressed. Very proud of you, North ⭐️ Star! 😊
Stay strong! You ARE Stronger than you think you are ! You are killing it and we are behind you all the way!
You may only see one set of footprints…
My friend, you have got this!!!!
Dang! That was some moment on that mountain. I was so relieved to see you finally cozy in your tent and sleeping bag. You did it! You totally rock. Those views were incredible.
You are super tough. Amazing how God shows up just when we need him. Will be praying for lots of awesome days to come.
So beautiful! Glad you had help through the scary part of the pass! You are brave and strong!
Do you have spikes or an ice axe?? Sorry that’s so terrifying 🫶🏼
Trials and tribulations.....tough going....you are doing it.....may the beauty of it all pick you up.....God Bless!
Just WOW!!! Incredible beauty and so proud of you for pushing through the fear and conquering that pass. God is good!
I am so goddamn proud of you right now!
I’m tearing up for you puppy dog ❤ 😢
Wow. Glad those other two hikers were there to help you. That’s scary! Glad you’re ok, thanks for sharing.
Wow…what a scary day. You handled awesome,
what horrible food choices - no wonder you are having to eat constantly - eating all that sugar prevents you from accessing your fat stores
