I am a 4th Generation Colo Native. This is a good video but I have one correction. The Georgetown Loop was not originally just for tourists. The Colorado Midland RR went from Golden, Followed Clear Creek up to Idaho Springs and Georgetown to haul gold and silver ore down to Denver for Smelting. When Silver was found in Silver Plume and Bakerville, They built an additional line to those mining camps and the Devils Gate Bridge was built to accomplish that.
Thanks so much for the correction, and thanks for watching!!
Exactly
Excellent video of the beauty of Colorado.
Glad you enjoyed it
Whether you're seeking outdoor adventure, scenic beauty, or simply a peaceful escape into nature, Rocky Mountain National Park offers a wealth of experiences that will leave you awe-inspired and rejuvenated.
I can add a travel tip from our experience in Rocky Mountain National Park. If you are driving cross country and live in a low elevation. When you take the highest highway your O2 sensor may need to adjust. Get out at several stops on your way up and walk around for about 30 minutes. Our SUV die on the road and would not start for about 15 minutes before finally limping to the pass. We got out and waited 45 minutes and then drove straight to the mechanic he just laughed and said it happens all the time. O2 sensor needs to adjust and takes time. It was a scary and dangerous lesson for this midwesterner. Love the videos.
thank you soooo much for sharing this!! We will put this tip in our travel guides as well.
Do you have the car running when you stop or turn it off? Probably off, but I want to make sure. Thanks!
What kind of car was this?
Good tip 😊
I never seen detail films from Colorado, thanks for this amazing tutorial film ,we enjoy a lot
Absolutely beautiful. My wife and I will be flying to Salt Lake City for an epic road trip to the Big 5 next Friday for 10 days. Looking forward to some touring, hiking and just hanging out.
Have a wonderful time!
Such a beautiful state, would love to visit one day, so pristine. Thanks for letting me vicariously take a trip outta Baltimore even if only for a short bit 💯 that end of I-70 looks much more interesting and fun to me as well...
Thanks for watching! Good to hear from a Marylander!
Thomas Dambo is actually from Denmark, not the Netherlands There are a lot of different trolls schattered around in Denmark as well. I believe we have 5 here in the Copenhagen area
Yes, we misspoke, innocent mistake. Thanks for watching.
Are you sure it wasn't 1976 when the dam in Estes broke. I was living there when everything got wiped out. It was 1976 not 1982. I loved you video. I live in Arizona now, so this was a trip down memory lane for me.
Interesting! It looks like there were two floods. The 1976 is called the Big Thompson River Flood and the 1982 is called Lawn Lake Dam Flood.
@@WereintheRockies That's interesting. By 1982 I was in the military and didn't live there anymore. The one in 1976 was very devastating. It wiped out most of the road to Estes up the Big Thompson River and they found dead bodies as far away as Nebraska. I loved your video. I haven't been back to Colorado since my husband died in 2017. He was also from Colorado. I miss the state. It's so beautiful, but I don't have the courage to go back yet.
The Big Thompson had to major floods one in 1976 and then in 2013, my dad working on Big Thompson road in 76 and his boss told everyone to go home because of the rain. Then in 2013 it happened again because of too much rain in one shot, and as the 1982. That was the Lawn lake flood and it basic buried the town in mud and water, because I remember going to visit a couple of year afterwards.
I like how your video is basically set up like a documentary. It's helping me plan our trip!
Glad it was helpful! Good luck.
I grew up in Denver, left in 1978. Thanks for some awesome memories
Im a bus driver in Vail :) thanks for visiting. I just moved here last may and I want to explore colorado a lot more. This video really helped! Thanks!
You should! It’s so beautiful.
Colorado looks peaceful...😮

You’re welcome. Thanks for watching.
Fantastic video thru my childhood home state! I took this virtual trip with you today. Guess I was homesick for the Rockies. Grew up in suburb of Denver & have great memories of camping with my family & girl scouts. Especially loved the segments of Rocky Mtn NP, Fall River Rd, & Aspen. You guys are a treasure. Thank you!!!
Lisa from Santa Ynez CA
Thanks so much Lisa! Happy you enjoyed it and hopefully we did your home state justice!
You should also make stops in Golden (Coors Brewery, Lookout Mtn/Buffalo Bill's Grave), & Morrison (Red Rocks Amphitheater).
@lisablanton6842 We’ve done them, but not for TH-cam yet. We hope to in the future though! Thanks for the suggestion. We plan on visiting CO again this fall.
Took notes walking the way for our next trip , great video ❤
Thoroughly enjoyed this!
My wife and I combined the Colorado Rockies with Dinosaur National Monument, Teton and Yellowstone. Then back to Denver from Wyoming.
Nice
Love the video except for the Breckenridge comment. I went during Thanksgiving 2020 & fell in love with Breck. Have been there 2020, 2021 & 2023. Never been in summer but they also have lots of things going on plus lots of shops. This is my happy place! ❤
Thanks for sharing!! We know several people who love Breck a lot!
@@WereintheRockiesI agree with your Breckenridge comment, all the little shops are pretty useless for the most part. It was pretty boring there, I left after two days.
I have only made stops in there during the summer months, but it is a great town for skiing & getting around town easily. It has always been a more laid-back and affordable ski town in my experience. Unfortunately, I haven't made it out there in a while.
I grew up in Colorado Springs. I miss the mountains.
I'm hoping to go on a road trip out there next year and pick up my niece's 2 oldest kids & my sister to enjoy some similar experiences.
The new tubing area looks like fun.
Thanks for the video!
Go buy the beautiful Nats a supply of candles. Her choice
Thanks a lot😊 Colorado is amazing 😊
I LOVED this video....well done...maybe we can do it someday...hope so....thanks from Niagara Falls Ontario 😂😂
🤞🏼
The beauty of nature shown reaches the deepest pockets of soul.
Wow , Colorado looks amazing.
It is!
Make sure to come to our hotel❤
One correction. Interstate 70 terminates in New Jersey near the beach town of Brielle, not in Baltimore. I know this because it ran near my house in Cherry Hill, NJ where I went to high school. I live in Denver now and when traveling I 70 I remember my younger years on the other side of the country. I enjoy the family feel to your videos and love anytime I can spend in the mountains.Thanks.
NJ-70 ends near Brielle. Interstate 70 ends in Baltimore. Easy mistake. Like you, we love the mountains. Thanks for watching.
Did this road trip twice. It’s absolutely amazing
Very interesting story!!!
Glad you think so!
Your suggested itineraries miss Ouray, the San Juan Mountains, Dallas Divide, Telluride, Silverton, Weminuche wilderness, Durango Narrow Gauge railroad and Mesa Verde in SW Colorado. Maybe a second trip, but Colorado's "best" should, in this old Colorado Native's opinion (who now lives in central Utah), include a mention of that area. I agree that a follow-on to Utah is terrific. The Southwest loop can branch over and hit either Arches/Canyonlands from the south or head past the Grand Gulch area to Capitol Reef NP. All the greatest country on the planet.
Maybe we'll have to do a "part 2". Thanks for the suggestions.
I TOTALLY agree!! Ouray is one of my FAVORITE places on earth!! And the Uncompagre (sp?) Mountain Range is w/out equal. I also loved the quaint mountain town of Cripple Creek w/their free-roaming burros!!
In the early 1970's, I lived in CO - off-seasons in Denver, where I worked in a law office, w/5 attorneys. But w/the 1st hint of snow, I took off for the slopes, where I worked for a ski lodge, doing everything from waiting tables or tending bar, to carrying luggage, checking in guests, cleaning rooms, & even stand-up comedy when the snowstorms were bad enough that regularly scheduled entertainment couldn't get through!! It was a great life!!
In 1993, I took my 19-year-old daughter on our own road trip. We visited Breckenridge over the 4th of July. I still laugh at how freaked out she was to wake to a late snowfall. When she realized it was such a dry cold, that she didn't need a jacket & even her sandals were no problem, she decided it was the coolest experience ever!! ❤❤
Very nice job. Thanks for sharing. cheers
I love the Rockies I Live Brigham City,UT we are moving to Pleasant Grove,UT🙂❤
Great job Sarah you aced it 👏 Love running your errands with you see you next week👋🏻😉
Back in the day, you used to be able to camp at the lakes in front of the Bells
That would’ve been awesome.
thanks guys
Excellent travel guide and motivating!!!!!!!!.
I love this state very much
😍😍😍 Hmmm… this may have to be my family’s next vacation! Great video as always!
Robin, you’re the best! Thanks for watching.
Super Video!!!
A little spice. I had 3 second cousins that lived on the road between
Glenwood Springs and Aspen, visited in 1967. One had about 1500
acres close to Aspen and said he had been offered $3 million for it
looked like a pile of rocks to me, he told me that the people in Aspin
wanted to close the road from Glenwood to Aspen to keep out the
riff wraf. Only way to get in would be by airplane. He did not mind to
much as he and his son had an airplane.
Thank you so much for making this awesome video. It's very well done and Filmed with very useful tips and information. 👍👌
Great video! Thank you 😊!
Great video! I was in Breckenridge and Frisco last summer and loved both towns. Also did a bike trail between the two. ❤
That’s awesome!
So amazing love it❤
Loved your video. Nature at its best.
Glad you enjoyed it
Alma is the highest town in colorado 10355 ft above sea level ,as my husband lived there in early 80s and he took my daughter and I to see it and all those beautifull mt. and towns 3 years ago. the whole state has boomed so fast though. especially the front range area. GYAUOTP haha the town mato of Alma and now his va . truck license plates
Great video! I live here in Colorado and love seeing your videos ❤
How kind! Thank you for watching. We appreciate it soooo much
Nice vid
Proud of you Jerry stone 👏
Que Chingonnnn 😱
I so much love this video ... thanks as always! Kirk
Glad you enjoyed it
Total did the effects. Some pretty rad art.i totally loved seeing in the beginning the two train passing each other and running opposite side by side. I notice the number 53 is on a lot of the cars. Is there a reason for that or is it just coincidence. I also wonder the artists story behind some of the art. Very interesting and intriguing to me. Great video by the way!
I’m not sure if the number 53 has any significance. Thanks for watching.
Great video. Seriously, well done. A lesser known fact is that it is actually called the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel. Westbound tunnel is named after Dwight Eisenhower and the Eastbound tunnel, which was completed 6 years after the Ike, is named after Governor Edwin Johnson.
Thanks so much for the compliment. Thanks for the detailed history!
The west of america is always beautiful and great nature, greating from south east asia.
This was so interesting and well put together. I've lived in CO for the last 40 years and really enjoyed checking off the places I've visited and seeing some of the places I haven't been to. Great video.
Very cool! Thanks for watching.
Awesome... thank you for this video...
Our pleasure!
nice ❤
I am a fourth generation Colorado native. This video is great but I have a small fix. The Georgetown Loop didn't start out just for tourists. When silver was discovered at Silver Plume and Bakerville, they built an additional road to those mining camps and Hell Bridge was built to make it happen.

Thanks guys - very informative and nicely explained it all .... May I please ask which month did you do Colorado trip?
It was June
Thumbs up to Colorado. I'm in Denver!😀😃😁🤣
I admire your commitment to Dumb & Dumber, LOL!
😂
Came to say the same thing! :D
Wonddrful
When you talk about Colorado pizza I can't belive you didn't experience Beau Jo's 😢 hands down best pizza I've EVER had in 46 years . Highly recommend trying it next time
I know!! We actually tried, and just couldn’t pull it off. Next time!!
That’s on my list when we go to Colorado this summer!!! Any other good pizza places to try in Colorado?
@@tonyeatspizzaas far as food goes. make a reservation at casa bonita! 💯 You will love it! It has a heck of a waiting list tho. Do not miss this. Also burrito company is amazing! Chubbys green chili fries 🔥 I could go on all day
@@TicklesMikeHawk - Awesome, thank you! Yep we’re signed up on email list for Casa Bonita. Hope we get in!!
Lol... Hopefully, the food is better. Casa Bonita was always a treat to go to growing up in Colorado Springs. My parents would take us there and couple it with Elitch Gardens amusement park. The food was pretty terrible, but it was a cool place and one of my favorites. If you go to Colorado Springs, Fargo's Pizza Company is unique and has always been a family favorite.
OMG, you americans are o lucky !
Where are you?

Great video! Question, what camera are you using, like how it's smooth and easy on the eyes!
It’s an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Thanks for watching.
Thomas Dambo is from Danmark and not the Netherlands
I love your video. is it okay to go this Friday in Colorado or we need to wait til July?
Very nice and informative video. What month was your trip taken?
End of June/beginning of July.
Oh man this makes me want to do Colorado on on Utah trip (will be already booked). 😆. We did RMNP and Great Sand Dunes last summer and got a taste of Colorado.
Colorado is great!
بلد رائعة ومذهلة استمرّ يابطل أنت مبدع تمامآ 💦🚓🦋
Great adventures! When did you visit those places? I wonder if May is a good time to go to Colorado... :-)
We visited at the end of June. We don't recommend May if you can help it - too snowy or muddy on trails, and not everything is open yet.
@@WereintheRockies That’s a pity! I thought to visit Colorado on May, I have to find another direction now. But thanks for advice 🙂
Colorado makes me speechless ❤
.. Interesting trip and activities ..... The town above Blackhawk is Central City ,, complete name ........ and all the references to the Blue Columbine flower is because it is the State Flower ... There is also Red Columbines in the Rockies .... ... Better take that spear out of that burger ,, you might have a new piercing ...
... Not only does Trail Ridge Road travel from one side of Rocky Mountain National Park ,, it crosses over the Continental Divide ...
Yes! 😂
What Month or Months, was this road trip ? Sure would help.
Thanks for the reminder. I will try to include this in future videos. We did this trip in June!
I would like to travel to the rocky mountains, if possible
nice city and

Great video...I'm planning to go there in Summar but like to know what time you visit there?. What is the best time to visit?
We were there the end of June/beginning of July. I would not go earlier than that. Many people like to go in the fall to see the beautiful fall colors.
@@WereintheRockies That's what we are planning to go. Thanks again for great video
My parents almost bought property in Aspen while on their honeymoon back in the day.
Hi, end of july to 2nd weeknof august, how is the weather?
It varies depending on your elevation, but Colorado's average high during that time is 88 degrees Fahrenheit.
WOW great Ytube Channel 👍👍💯👌
Thanks so much.
I love your videos, but i have to correct you about the trolls. Thomas Dambo is from Denmark, like me smiles.
There is a clip that looks an awful lot like Adams Falls in Grand Lake but you made it look like it was part of Fall River Road. Am I wrong?
It was not Adams falls. It was chasm falls. We haven’t been to Adams falls yet. Going this year though. :)
Did I miss Pike's Peak?
what month of the year were you in Estes?
We were there in July.
Which month of the year was this filmed in ?
End of June/beginning of July.
Ur right ur not aspen material
YOURE BETTER
Remember a rich man has a better chance of going thru the eye of a needle than go to heaven.
Great video
When was the video made. Like month and date.
June 2023
Personally, I've been to Aspen for work. I have zero desire to go there anymore. Thee are much better towns elsewhere that the towns folk will treat you well. Nothing but negative experiences there.
I’m sorry to hear that.
Alma is the highest.
Ah, Aspen. I had dinner there once, it cost me $500....not even joking.
😂 That’s insane!
Overarted
Why don't you put my down for 4..... incase i want seconds
Best lunch deal in Aspen is the $4.00 hot plate from the City Market deli; take it outdoors & enjoy it at the local park. Beats those pricey places hands down! 😊🎉
"hey if the rich wanna give us their pastries" hahaha I died at this comment. What month did you visit in?
We were there the end of June/beginning of July.
The one ski town that's not pretentious is breckenridge. You got that one wrong.
Don't know why you skipped how much the fees on all your toured places 🤷🏻♂️🙈
I bet that hotel Jerome is haunted, every night…
The average single family home price in Aspen is 5 million, not 20 million. Just to put that out there.
Thank you!! 🙏 and thanks so much for watching!
@@WereintheRockies no harm, I love the videos, you folks do a wonderful job with your videos. 5 stars. I live in Aspen, so I thought I would just help with the misconception that everything is crazy priced
@SEVEREDxAPPENDAGE You live there?!? That’s so awesome, and we’re so grateful you watch our videos. We were thinking about doing the mining tour in Aspen next time we visit
Sorry but Thomas Dambo/Thomas Winther Pedersen is from Denmark :/
Honest mistake.
Loved this video but I wish you would tone it down on the “All rich people are snobs” stereotype. Maybe you should view them as inspiration instead of trying to shame them for what they’ve accomplished.
